My experience at Fat Tuesday's might be a little influenced by the fact that I'd driven for a solid eight hours that same Friday evening, but overall I can't complain.  Still not sure how I feel about the $10 cover charge, but once I was in the door it was easy to lose myself in the three-piece live band and solid drinks from the bartenders.  Finding seating in the back might be an issue if you come later in the evening like we did, since tables get full very quickly and folks like to linger over their food and drinks.

New Orleans experience it's not, but a fun night can be had here.

Skip the food, it really sucks and is far from a NO experience.  I've only tried 2 items here and one was unmemorable and the other I remembered...as being extremely terrible and a slop of a mess.

The drinks are solid and the live band can be fun.  When the summer is around the patio can be rocking however the staff aren't always the best but again that's seasonal.  The crowd can be slightly older and when it's busy the staff can't do have problems.

At night time on weekends, they now have a live band playing (not so much dueling piano anymore....still have two panio). The bands are ususally good, the food is okay.
They have a cover charge after 11:00 pm.

The crew at the bar can be annoying at times. It might be the last time i go there.

The plan was to come here for dinner, but in retrospect, dinner may have been the least exciting part of coming here!

Why?  The drinks and the music!  (well, and the food was good, but the small portions were relatively forgettable compared to the rest of this place!).

Gotta love eating ribs out on the patio, drinking a hurricane, (pronounced *hurriken*), and listing to the dueling pianos belting out some a great variety of music!

Sadly, the indoor piano-area was so jam-packed, we could hardly move, let alone grab a place to sit, so we didn't enjoy as much music as I'd have liked.  Oh well, maybe more next time?

I've been to Fat Tuesday's for a low key dinner and I've been to Fat Tuesday for a night that was very much not low key!

I enjoyed both experiences but the first, the dinner, was decent but nothing spectacular.  I ran into a friend who was dining on the patio and I sort of regret that our party didn't get to eat on the nice looking patio.  The service was prompt and given that we were a large group the waitress took good care of us.

The second time I went featured the notorious dueling pianos, beads, crazy dancing and probably a bit too much New Orleans hospitality.

I was quite surprised to this place transform into such a packed and fun bar.  The dueling pianos was really wild.  At one point they had us all dancing to "Nausea, heartburn, indigestion, upset stomach, diarrhea..." Yes, the Pepto Bismol song!  It was a lot of fun and I have some great memories from that night.

I left with probably a little bit of nausea but that was no one's fault but my own!

I'd go back to this place and I don't mind paying their cover or even waiting in their line (they have a heated line) and it seems pretty legit because the place is often packed.

Fat Tuesday's is a nice change from the typical bar/pub that is found in the Byward Market.

I don't even remember the cost to get into this place. There was a cover charge though that's all I remember. Specifically because there is still a very faint blue star on the back of my hand from the night we went. I didn't order any drinks mostly because of the fact that I was absolutely hammered by the time we got to this place.

The experience I had was not as good as my friend hyped this place up to be. The dueling pianos was missing a player the night I went. The waitresses were seen maybe twice throughout our two hour visit. :S When we wanted our bill, we couldn't even find the waitress to get it. The service was terrible.

The venue was clean and bustling with excitement but a little too loud for my taste. I'm not a big fan of joints where you can't hear your friends voice who is sitting across from you at  3 ft square table.

In any case, although this place was not my scene it is obviously very fitting for a number of other people including one of my closest friends. So at least check it out if your presented with the opportunity. Who knows maybe you'll find you like it a lot!

There may be a lot of bars in the Byward market, but not a lot of them are unique. Anyone can open a bar and serve a drink, but it takes more than that to make a place that lasts.

Fat Tuesday's has a New Orleans feel to it. Walk in and you might find someone jamming on the piano, or someone else putting beads around your neck. It's a great atmosphere.

There are tables to sit at, but standing around the piano isn't looked down upon. Or stand around the bar, it is big and the bartenders seem to be on the ball. They do have a full food menu, and it is good, but that wouldn't be my first reason to head to Fat Tuesday's.

When the weather permits they have a great patio area to have a drink on.

All-in-all, it's a great place to have a few drinks with friends, or even party hard.

The incredibly high prices at Fat Tuesdays make it difficult to ever validate coming here. Paying $10 for one of their delicious cocktails is pretty expensive, even for the ByWard Market. Fortunately, their food isn't too expensive ($10-$20 per dish) and the selection is exciting since most of it is inspired by Cajun and Creole cuisine.

However, I'm more so attracted to Fat Tuesdays because of its atmosphere and dueling piano shows on Friday and Saturday nights, which means this is generally a place I'd just come to for a drink. I just wish it wasn't so pricey.

My friend and I went to Fat Tuesdays on a Friday evening around 6 pm (ish).  There was no cover charge and we were able to get a table outside.  The food was awesome (I'm a big fan of that meal) and so was the service.  No complaints here I will definitely be going back.

I'd never had alligator anythiing before so we tried the alligator bites.  They're kinda chewy.  I'd say people who think they are something else when it comes to meat tasting and enjoyment (you know those types... they wanna argue for 10 minutes about the consistency of a steak) probably wouldnt like them, but I was down.  My friend and I shared them and don't say anything but I ate way more.

I also had a seafood pasta dish that was super duper.  In fact I'm going to order the same thing when I go back there again.

UPDATE:  I went back to Fat Tuesdays for the Scarlett Dinner Theatre (which was great I might add) and the live piano/band.  We had to wait a few minutes to get a seat but it was well worth it.  The piano dude was TOPS and the other musicians were great as well.  The atmosphere was very arousing.  I now rate this place as a 5 star.
