Okay, maybe I think Karaoke is great because I lived in Japan for a while, but even if North Americans don't have the same love affair with the Karaoke machine that their cross-Pacific counterparts do, you have to admit, it's a pretty good party activity. So, if you were looking for a "one stop karaoke shop", Famous Karaoke Corp. on Main St. is it. They carry all the equipment and accessories you could hope for to turn your living room into a live studio including microphone, amplifier, KOD player, mixers, speakers and many, many choices of music to plug into your equipment. So, if you feel the need to mimic Scarlett Johansson doing The Pretenders in "Lost in Translation", you'll be able to live out your fantasy by coming here. Welcome to your new favourite hobby.

Review from Evilyn T.
Every year for my birthday we have a party called the Pink N Drink. The party is pretty self explanatory, you wear pink, you drink, and we all sing karaoke. If you don't wear pink you have to wear the giant pink granny panties of doom, and sing a song of my choosing, and last time someone had to sing "the Wind Beneath my Wings" so it's best to just wear the pink.
I have rented from these guys twice in the past. We usually get one of the microphone's that has the buttons on the side so you just punch in the number of the song right into the mic, which is super easy. I rented from a place that used discs before and it was just a pain in the ass. We rented a deluxe package from Famous Karaoke that came with an extra mic and about 1000 songs, don't be fooled though, 25% of them are in Filipino. If you have friends that can speak Filipino, it can be pretty entertaining after a few drinks, or you can always make someone who gets too drunk try and sound out the words. We had both :)
The cost was pretty decent, I think it was about $80-$100 and a deposit which is reimbursed when you bring all the pieces back. The staff were very helpful and let us look through the song books to make sure all the one-hit wonders were in there, they do need to add more new songs to the collection though I have to admit. They also sell karaoke equipment, so if you really like to keep the neighbours awake you can just buy the mic and use memory chips to store your songs in the mic. I think the best songs to sing are "Bohemian Rhapsody" and "We are the Champions" by Queen because everyone knows the words so everyone sings along.
