I like Falconetti's! The food and prices are decent, but what bumps this up from a 3 to 4-star review is the staff and service.

I came here to see a friend's band play and was impressed with the service. A friend of mine was on a tear and decided to try every shot she could that tasted like cake, and she insisted i join her. Our bartender was super friendly and amused by the idea, and he ended up sampling a few cake shots himself! I love it when bartenders join you in a shot because it's nice to see someone having good time on the job, and it suggests that the person who runs the joint is probably a decent boss.

It was really busy and our waitress ended up forgetting one of our table's orders, but i didn't mind since she seemed sincerely sorry that we had to wait, which is different than when some servers just seem sorry and angry because they're worried that it will affect their tip.

Their drinks are quite delicious too! Their sangria is awesome, and their caesars are delish. All the fixings, and if you ask for it spicy it tastes just right!

My tip for this place is that it's a good joint to go to if you're alone, really hungry, and want to grab a bite to eat at someplace that isn't at a fast food joint. Awhile ago, i was out running errands and came here since i didn't want to go home and eat, then go back out again to finish my shopping, and it was a nice place to make a pit stop. There was a band to watch so i wasn't bored, and the service was prompt. For once being a loner wasn't awkward!

A trendy little bar/club right on the drive.

Live music (what they call music these days)

Full bar, great upper floor/deck/patio space, but go while the sun is high the building across the street blocks the sun way to soon.

Some of the most interesting/unusual hot wings that I have enjoyed in Vancouver

Falconetti's get away from the standard bbq sauce or  frank's red hot sauce style of wing and it looks like they make their own tomato based hot sauce,

Not the spiciest but sufficient enough to require beer for cooling ;)

If your in the hood or a band you like is playing I say it is a-OK

Love the patio/solarium here! Pretty unique view of the city from the eastside. Alternatively, there's also a good view of the t.v. from most angles if you want to watch the games here :P

Besides the patio, this place is best known for their sausages. We had the Hot Italian (parmesan, tomatoes, onions and house sauce) and the Polish (Beef sirloin with sauteed sauerkraut, onions & grain mustard), both were pretty good. They also come with fries (or you can get salad instead for extra).

Pretty good beer/martini/cocktail selection too :)

This really pains me to write this.

A bunch of us went in on Saturday afternoon and spent hours there on the rooftop patio. The service was amazing and the owner came to chat. The drinks were delicious! A few people ate and it looked like everyone enjoyed their meals.

So, why wouldn't we think the same thing might be in the cards again the next day?

Hmmmm. We got there as a threesome and had another two meeting us shortly. We seated ourselves upstairs after the lovely Jessica, working downstairs, directed us up with a smile.

Once we got in our seats the waitress and the waiter on the patio were whispering and glaring at us (can't we seat ourselves?) ...we then proceeded to wait another 40 min to even get our drink orders in. It was busy but not crazy and the two staff members were definitely pissed at us for something (seating ourselves... really???) and it was very unsettling to say the least.

We stayed and tried to give it a chance but it was the worst service by a couple of hungover (?) unapologetic jerks who decided to "pay us back" for our "wrong doing". The food was delivered in decent time but without a smile and after the table was cleared we were not asked if we'd like another drink but left waiting again while they chatted to each other.

If anyone knows Carmine (the owner) please direct him to this.

I love Falconettis and the server on Saturday was amazing and I know the other staff are great too so I will go back, but if either of those twits from Sunday are there, I will run for the hills... or a different pub.

Before coming to Falconetti's I heard one thing and one thing only,

    "OMIGAWD TRY THEIR SAUSAGES!!!"

Well, sorry, but I'll pass. Call me crazy but I'm just not a huge fan of sausage... and I suggest you get whatever tired quips you have about me loving sausage better out now. I've already run through about seven just myself so, yeah - I'm over it.

Falconetti's was the location of choice to celebrate my co-worker/friend/kindred spirit Lizzy's birthday. Fabulous choice on our part, I must say. Obviously we decided to sit on the rooftop patio which just might be the best in Vancouver. With mountains, Downtown and the always interesting Commercial Drive before you, I defy anyone to find a problem with the space. Unless you're, like, allergic to air or something. Then I'll concede.

So what should you eat? Apparently the goddamn sausages since they have a huge selection. Seriously though, variations on sausage? It's grease encased in plastic, which is in turn fried in oil. Why don't I just lick the oil traps in a fast food joint? My apologies to anyone who happens to be a fan; I'm sure they're amazing but they're not my scene. I ordered the Grilled Chicken Caesar Wrap, Lizzy had the Fish Tacos and, not being gluttonous at ALL, we also had some Yam Fries.

Side note: Yam Fries might be the perfect side-dish for anything. Ever.

I wish I could tell you how good my wrap was but I devoured it pretty instantaneously. I can say this for sure - I will be going back because those fish tacos looked ridiculous. Grilled tortilla shells, fresh diced tomato, and guacamole provided a supple nest for the golden pieces of fish that screamed, "Anthony, you should ordered me, bro".

When your friend's food mocks you, it may be time to stop drinking on your lunch break.

This was a great find on Commercial. And we hit up the rooftop patio on a sunny day so it was perfect. They have a bunch of great beer on tap as well. It's always a good sign when you see Phillips beer on the tap.

I recommend trying their sausages. I went with the Spicy Chicken and it was awesome.

If you are looking for good food and a beer this place is the best I've found on Commercial.

Note: this is a brunch review.

I decided to come here one weekend for breakfast, since I had looked at their menu online and their sausages looked drool-worthy. I also know a couple of Falconetti's die-hards, so I thought it was about time I checked the place out.

In short: meh. The food was good, but  the ambiance was lacking. I'm sure once the upstairs patio opens it will be great, but the inside it feels a little dark and depressing. (It would be a great venue for drinking and live bands, but for breakfast, not so much)

Also, the entire time we were there they were playing Killers albums on shuffle. One or two songs, sure, but entire albums? C'mon, Falconetti's! Being a hub of up-'n'-coming musical acts, you should know better!

I'll likely come back to check this place out in the evenings, but I'll be skipping breakfast.

My friends had a craving for mussels last night and so this is where we ended up before heading out to see a movie.

I didn't have too many choices since I don't eat meat/seafood, so my veg friend and I shared the spinach and artichoke dip.

It was SO good! Very cheesy and salty, which is great if you're a salt fiend like I am. My friend thought it was just okay because he would have preferred less salt which I thought was crazy talk.

There were nice big hunks of artichoke in it and it had a nice spicy kick. Not too spicy, but I think I remember reading something about jalapenos in it. The tortilla chips were made fresh in house and were still warm and perfectly crunchy when they arrived at our table.

I was pretty amused by one of my other friends who ordered a sausage taco. HAH. Sausage taco indeed. She seemed to really enjoy it. And apparently the mussels were a hit as usual.

I tried a few of my friend's fries which had so much flavour! They were divine! I didn't even need to dip them in ketchup. I was worried the ketchup would ruin them.

I also ordered a cocktail (something Rexy? It isn't on their online menu..) which was DELICIOUS! You must get this. I can't tell you whats in it because, like I said, it only seems to be on the menu IN the restaurant.

The restaurant was practically empty when we got there but within 45 minutes it got super packed and a live band had started playing so we got the hell outta there.

PS Did I mention they have SAUSAGE TACOS?

    Fun neighborhood pub . . .

Their live bands caught our attention as we walked by. Some great music, lots of happy people.

They are known for their sausages. That's about all they have on their menu. If If you don't like sausages on a bun, maybe go elsewhere. I found the sausage to be exceptionally tasty, a great alternative for a light lunch. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Falc's absolutely has the best patio on the drive. Relaxed atmosphere, with some of the friendliest staff around. Love the people watching from the balcony area and curling up with the provided blankets in the back high tops. Server Selene was absolutely amazing, great chats, quick service and absolutely the best spicy Ceasar around. Will be back to check out the the live music downstairs later this week! Thanks again for the lovely time.

This place was packed when I came.  I think its a nice place to come with friends for live music, though it is quite small and narrow.  I had the Scottish ale, which was great.  I'm more a dive bar person so it was a little too nice for me but I would probably come here again for the live music.

What Falconetti's lacks in food, they make up for in atmosphere, at least if you sit on their rooftop deck on a warm summer day or evening.

We tried Falconetti's during the World Cup after reading the Georgia Straight's guide to sports bars with world beer selections.  We tried 3 dishes and 4 drinks.  Two of the dishes were from their signature sausage menu and were definitely good, if not great.  Their fries, though, are magnificent -- fresh Kennebec potatoes tossed in garlic-lime oil and a blitz of cilantro.  The beer selection was not really extensive at all, so that was a bust, but their mixed drinks were decent, with a few ambitious recipes on the menu.

Really, this place gets their four stars purely through their fries and lovely deck, which is open-air and open-window and even features blankets for those who get chilly.

Came here for the England v. USA football match.  It was 10am and I still had no food in my tummy.. or coffee. In fact, I was woken up and brought here to cheer on England.

So, I ask for a cup of coffee.  No coffee. They don't serve it....? Hmm.. how do you have breakfast items but no coffee? Okay, whatever, there are a bunch of great coffee shops on Commercial so I'll just get it elsewhere. But after the server brought our drinks, she totally forgot about us after we said we need a couple more minutes to decide on food.

After I came back from my coffee run, I had to go up to the bar and ask for our server (a time span of about 20 mins maybe after our drinks arrived).

I got the breakfast burrito and it was definitely the best I ever had! The homefries are great too.  Good breakfast over all. I wish they had coffee though.

It took me a while before I realized this place wasn't called 'Falcon Eddie's'.  I don't know why, but that disappointed me for some reason.

Anyways - an always packed, lively and popular joint on the Drive on any given night.  This is the place to go when you want more drinks on the Drive and last call is up at the other bars.

Probably one of the pricier options on the Drive, but a solid selection of brews, cocktails, pub food and entrees.  Falconetti's specializes in spicy 'snausages' - in straight-up bratwurst form or as I craved in my drunken haze that night, in taco form!  Open kitchen with the sausage grill wafting out all the advertising.

Also, always a great fun vibe - there's no better musical accompaniment to drunken, boisterous laughter than the live ska band they had playing.  Close out your nights on the Drive here - if that's still not late enough for you, message me: we need to party together.

This is one of those surprises on the drive. I had passed by countless times and even peeked at the menu, not recognizing the legitimacy of the offerings. Last night was my first time in as a customer and to watch a performance on the small stage in the back.
The group, Sudanda plays what I would refer to as global fusion. A mesmerizing, rhythmic chanting to musical score written by the Sudanese vocalist Alaaeldin Abdalla and accompanied by 4 instruments you wouldn't expect to hear together; Pocket Trumpet, (played by James Griffiths on occasion), Accordion (by Jane), percussion and Acoustic guitar. http://www.myspace.com...

There's a great patio upstairs with two parts, one covered and the other open to view the stars, and with a pretty good view of the city. I know I'll be coming back on another warm night to enjoy this unique feature.
The menu is pretty much comfort food but with flair and the bar is really quite nice in it's own right.

As always, it depends what you're really rating here.  The perfect rating would be 3.5 stars overall, but since I can't do that, 4 will have to do.

The fries are truly the best in the city.  5 stars on those beauties for sure.  I asked for the secret recipe but it was laughed off.  I would guess they know the secret - hand cut kennebec potatoes, blanched until nearly cooked, then into the fridge for up to a day, then into the fryer to finish them off.  They then toss them in an oil (possibly truffle? but maybe not) with a touch of salt, pepper, lots of garlic, a bit of cilantro and lime juice.  You simply must try them.

The beer prices were fine but the Russell I had tasted as if it had come from an unclean tap.  Again, no idea, but sometimes the taste is off for a reason.

Sausage was great - had the taco trio and the honey brat.  Both were great.

Service sort of so so.  Slow, but they were busy, and our server was entertaining.

Last, we were there on the rooftop deck as the sun set and the temperature dropped.  Was worried about the lack of heaters (with poor little me in a simple t-shirt) until we realized they had super warm and comfy blankets!  Who does this?  I've raving about it to my friends and they say lots of places do, but it's the first I've come across.

    Anyway, I'll be back.

    actually a 2.5

i decided to round up. this was my first time there but i had herd great things about it. i liked the inside its very "cozy" but whatever it was full thats good. i sat outside on balcony with 4 friends. 10 mins goes but and not even a "hey... drinks?" when the pretty lass did make her way over she only took one persons drink order stormed off and got his drink.

my friend ordered: fish tacos... all out
    then lettuce wraps... all out..
he asked the waitress she could have a quesadilla but no beef just chicken.
    "oh, i guess"

overall not cool. i liked the place it has a great location and nice decor but the servers are just awful... good to look at but just awful.

Small dark and busy, Falconetti's is a sausage bar, serving several types of gourmet hotdogs and mostly full of men. The beer is of excellent quality and available by the pitcher, and swinging jazz and country bands will often squeeze in and play in the corner at the back.

With it's singular long booth and conjoining tiny tables, it's very snug, cozy and warm with candles and the smell of homemade fries filling up the room every half hour. The service is friendly, relaxed and nonchalant, despite how busy it gets every night of the week.

Falconetti's is one of those bars that used to be conspicuous and full of regulars, but has since been spoiled by people looking to drink up the decadent beer and relish the "this is our bar" ambiance.

It's still worth a visit though, and especially great for afternoon drinking sessions.

I suggested this place because it looked like a cool pub and a good place to watch the Canucks game. To be honest, had I known the menu was based almost entirely on sausages, I probably would have insisted on Havanas down the street, or the huge pub (which was packed) right by  Broadway! But I do give them points for the variety of sausages and the creative dishes they make with them. I had corn tortillas filled with chopped up chicken sausage. The tortillas came with lettuce, tomato, guac and salsa. Could have used some cheese and hot sauce, but overall, not bad.

They also have a decent selection of beers on tap, plus a couple of types of cider and a good variety of martinis to keep me happy.

...So I'm giving this two stars because the menu (for dinner, anyway) wasn't particularly suited to my tastes. But someone who loves a huge variety of beer and sausages, it's fantastic. It's also a great place for watching sporting events because they set up two huge screens.

[I'm feeling a bit guilty about all my 4-stars, but I guess that's a result of choosing 4+ star places to eat out at ;)]

Good prices, yummy fries - I think they were tossed in some kind of garlic oil coating...   with chipotle mayo...  some of the best fries I've had before...
As another review mentioned I think they have a strange drink-food combo liquor license, I overheard a server still talk about this.  So if you want to just go for a drink you might have to order some kind of food.  (But hey, the food was cheap and tasty, so how can you really go wrong with some cheap tasty fries to share with a drink)
Unfortunately I didn't time my visit to partake in the live music, a band was setting up but left before they started.

Another East Side bar. Another story....

As a (now out of the closet) East Van lover, today I ventured where every true east van lover ventures regularly: Falconetti's on Commercial Drive.

I must admit- Falconettis has been an intimidating doorway to cross in the two+ years since I've moved to the East Side. Something about the way that everyone seems like they know each other, or the way the staff isn't all that interested in inviting you in.

Until today, The upstairs patio has an incredibily interesting view of the downtown skyline, the North Shore mountains, or the people stumbling home from Victoria Park (dependent on what you prefer to look at).

A substantial beer list and delicious sausage menu later, and I have to say I will be back.... and won't feel like I'm an unwelcome as a coldsore.

Thanks, Falconetti's. See you soon (hopefully not the cold sore).

    Yours faithfully: The Ninja Pirate

    Love their weekend brunch.

I can probably dine on a eggs benny diet alone and never get sick of it. What they served was perfect! It's too bad I don't live in the Drive neighbourhood anymore, otherwise I'd be there more often. The inside decor is small and dark, like a typical bar. But it has a nice feel. We sat at a little table staring out the window, eating eggs benny. I was in brunch heaven!

Falconetti's now has a rooftop patio/seating area. It is fantastic. So fantastic I got a nice patio burn, yes!

So, the pitchers of mojito's are a little watered down, stick with beer. And the food was alright! But I'm giving this place 4 stars because of the rooftop patio and it's also great to catch up with friends.

Fantastic full bar & grill with frequent live music that stuffs their own mouth-watering sausage which they serve at the very reasonable price of $6.95 on a bun.  The atmosphere is dark and cozy, casual and mellow in the afternoons, with the full front of the place opening up onto Commercial Drive and free WiFi, and packed and loud in the evenings when things really get going.

Falconetti's is undergoing some changes.  They're expanding into the space next door and have started construction of some additional space on the roof.  The changes don't seem to be limited to space either, there are some new policies that seem to have popped up recently as well - I'm not sure these are for the better.  In fact, I just had my first 1-2 star night at Falconetti's last night.  First, there is now a hostess at the table just inside the door.  This is very odd since the entire bar only has like 6 tables.  I'm uncertain what benefit this is except perhaps if they're just getting ready for when the bar is much bigger - which will be many months from now.

Another contribution to my 2 star night was a dreadful cook behind the grill.  Normally the cooks are fantastic, have many orders flying around and nail every one of them.  Last night the cook had the grill far too hot and literally burnt every order he made.  We sat at the bar adjacent to the grill and watched as he burnt order after order of sausage, skewers, and steaks.  In my many nights of visits to Falconetti's I have never witnessed this, I've also never seen this cook at the grill before.  At one point he had a fry pan about 1/4 full of nearly burnt veggies (the kind which get added to sausage buns and quesedillas) and added 3/4 of a pan of fresh veggies to it!??! By the time the fresh veggies were cooked, the ones that had been in there were little burnt pieces of coal - and he served these anyway.

Lastly, I actually heard the bar tender tell a couple of guys at the bar that if they didn't order food that they'd have to leave after the first drink.  Perhaps that's a BC license issue, but it was the first time I'd heard it and all on this same ill-fated night.

I hate to give Falconetti's a critical review because I've enjoyed many an evening there in a great vibe with delicious food.  The addition of this pointless hostess taking up a table on a busy night when patrons have found their way to their own tables for years and a cook that clearly had no business behind the bar make me very concerned about what is becoming of Falconetti's and if the Drive is going to lose a really fantastic bar & grill.

Intimate and dimly lit bar, perfect place to bring a date on a slower night (if you're both into a bar atmosphere).

The food was very tasty, priced reasonably and the servers were attentive and quick. Mind you the place was only half full when I was there. I'm sure if the place was full, I might be slightly annoyed (but patient) with the wait for beers.

I like the open concept of their kitchen and the small stage area in the back, but I'm not a fan of the skinny length of the bar. At the time of this review, the place is under expansion. As it is, this is not an ideal place for groups of 4+. If you and a friend want to share some drinks, and it's a slow night there, you will have fun.

I give this place 4.5 stars and I'll be going back there.

    3/23/2011 3 Check-ins Here

They are great.  Every time I'm here, they are more than accommodating.  I have played here with my band, and the same thing happens.  Very consistent.  Drinks are good and relatively inexpensive, Food, I haven't tried yet.

A bar that can bring me face-to-face with THE guy inside the Barney purple dinosaur suit? Worth many a future visit.

I visited this spot one summer evening and failed to sample what looks like a great menu (including eight kinds of sausage). And yes, I also happened to meet the guy who climbs inside the Barney costume as part of some traveling kids' show. The only big secret I discovered was that the voice is fake. Sorry if that's like revealing the truth about Santa Claus.

The vibe here is fun and live music packs the place. We had to flag down our server, but on a busy night this is expected. The staff were friendly and brought our drinks promptly. A Drive staple.

[note: author makes no guarantee that you too will be able to meet a Barney impersonator by visiting this establishment. It was really just a fluke. But memories last forever.]

I have decided on a quick lunch at Falconetti's. I know they make their own sausages, so I have ordered tacos with chorizo sausage. It was hands down the best taco i have ever had. The presentation, freshness, the way each ingredient cooked, used and seasoned was perfect. Absolutely perfect... It was crispy, spicy, succulent and sweet. There was nothing unnecessary on the plate, great portion size. Next table ordered the burger, looked equally delicious. Definitely going back to try more of that jazz.

My friend raved about this place and, since I've lived off The Drive for three years now and meant to try it, tonight we went. I was quite disappointed. My friend had the sweet Italian sausage with salad and I had the honey mustard sausage with fries. First, the server brought my dish after obviously having issues figuring out where to take it. Unprofessional. You make sure before you leave the kitchen that you know the tables and know where this meal is going AND make sure the meal for the table is complete. We then had to wait for her to go find my friend's meal. The fries looked promising, but it was a promise unfullfilled. Though nicely golden brown, they were a mixture of soggy and, in a few cases, still crisp in the center. I only ate a few because life is too short for bad fries. On to my sausage. Falconetti's advertises their unique bun which is actually curved to fit the curved sausage. However, while the sausage sticks out of both ends, it is lost in this overly-large crumbling bun. Not only that, but this sausage was bland. Very bland, as in tasteless altogether. The only thing "honey mustard" about it was the goop mixed in with the onions falling off the top. However, it did nothing for the sausage itself swallowed up in that huge bun. I ended up leaving almost all the fries and most of the bun. On the other hand, I had a bite of my friend's sweet Italian and it had some flavor at least, but the salad lacked flavor. I was very disappointed and would definitely need to be talked into bothering to walk in there again. With all the choices available on The Drive, why settle for mediocre?

I am being rather generous giving Falconetti's a 2 star rating mainly due to the fact of their absolute dreadful customer service. My 101 errands today brought me to Commercial Drive and I had a hour to kill before my mani/pedi appointment so I thought I would give this place a try.
I had bookmarked this pub/bar because of their homemade sausages, a speciality but before I get into that the very poor service requires noting.
I walked into the place and seen the long bar mentioned in other reviews and I liked the dark, dimly lit feeling immediately. What I did notice, despite the lack of lighting was the place was pretty dirty. I sat in a booth near the front so I could look out at the Drive and it would taken maybe 3 or 4 minutes to sweep up the floor. I looked down and seen pretty much everything the people before had eaten, only thing was I was the first person there seeing as how it was 11.30 so it was probably still from last night. Bit of a turnoff.
What was more of a turnoff though was the fact the staff continued their conversation and it took a full 5 minutes before one of the wait staff even came over. Turnoff #2.
I had to order the garlic/lime oil flavoured fries with the chipolte mayo knowing full well I would only eat 6 or so of them but this is also one of the items to try on the menu.
I ordered the hot Italian sausage and I will give them credit for it being delicious, especially the bun and the quality of the sausage.
The fries were nothing special; I didn't taste any garlic or lime and the mayo flavouring was very weak and not good.
After eating I waited for more than 15 minutes and realized the wait staff would never return, despite the fact she had only 3 other tables and they too were only ordering a simple item like a sausage on a bun. Multitasking was not her strong point.
I brought the 3/4's bowl full of fries to the bar and waited another 5 minutes to get her attention, who knows maybe she couldn't see me seeing as how it was so dark. I finally asked her to put them in a bag so I could feed them to crows along the way to the sky train. Not surprisingly this took yet another 5 minutes. I paid the bill and left.
Will I go back, no! The sausage is great but I can't tolerate the clear lack of customer service. They are renovating the place and perhaps at the same time they should send their staff for Serving it Right classes so they will learn proper customer service skills. It is an important part of the whole restaurant experience.

This place is a sausage fest, literally. They serve a range of tasty sausages among other bar food and if you get a window seat it is a prime spot to watch the sun set slowy as you sip on a pale ale and munch down a bratwurst

Fun atmosphere with live music on Saturday nights. A little loud, but I quite like it like this. Food was decent - had the homemade sausages - tasted good and reasonably priced. Service was very prompt and the draft beer was decent quality. Good spot to get together with friends or a just a fun night out with your partner.

My wife and I stopped in for a light dinner. We had the artichoke dip and calamari. Dip: small portion, poor consistency, meh tortilla chips. Calamari: sautéed rings (not bad texture), about 7 or 8 of them mixed up with some black olive slices and tomatoey hash; very small container of dip; grilled pita wedges.

Overall, disappointingly small portions of really mediocre food. Service was fine. My wife was surprised because she's enjoyed the food there before.

Falconetti's can do *way* better than this.
