They have meat (kosher) now! This is still the best falafel in town, and now the best kosher shawarma too!
I eat there quite often, it's a great spot for a hangout or a casual date! -

What other users have said in the past still apply, particularly the fact that Groupon vouchers do NOT state in the "Fine Print" that it could not be used towards items containing chicken. I was extremely disappointed for that reason the minute I saw the sign at Falafel Plus! If anything, the staff at Falafel Plus should feel happy that Groupon is helping them to attract more customers! The person behind the counter was not all that welcoming either. The service is quite impersonal, despite the high quality food. The falafel pita itself was delicious - one of the best ones I've ever had! If it was not for the impersonal service, I would have definitely considered coming again!

What on earth happened here?? What used to be the only place to get a decent falafel in town has transformed into a falafel plus shwarma joint. Apparently multitasking isn't their strong suit because not only is the staff miserable (and new -- who is this kid behind the counter? Where is my falafel guy?), but the shwarma wasn't at all fresh off the spit, came straight out of a bucket (?) AND the kid serving it was eating the meat *while* he was putting it on the plate.
Oh man, Falafel Plus, please get over your identity crises and come back to the good side. Please?Listed in: Gluten Free Vancouver, Fast Food, It's a Gluten Free World

Review from Cathy S.
Falafel Plus, your business practices suck and the person behind the counter is a douchetard.
After reading some positive reviews I really wanted to check out the place. My first visit several weeks ago wasn't fruitful because I arrived in the late afternoon and they had run out of a lot of menu items, so I left empty-handed. I thought they had poor inventory control but I was willing to try coming back again.
About a week ago Living Social had a deal for $10 to spend on Food and Drink at Falafel Plus so needless to say I bought a voucher and was anxious to use it. Let me recreate the events of my second visit:
Noon at Falafel Plus on a sunny summer Vancouver day
Me: I would like a chicken shawarma please.
Him: The chicken isn't ready, come back in 10 minutes
Cathy leaves mildly irritated, feeds more money into the parking meter and goes to pick up a few groceries. She returns in 15 minutes.
Me: a chicken shawarma please
The guy makes a shawarma. Cathy notices he does not carve the chicken from the cone but rather pulls it from a container. Cathy puts her Living Social Voucher on the counter.
Him: that voucher can only be used for falafels
Me: it says $10 to spend on food or drink, without restriction, which I believe covers everything on your menu.
Him: I just want it to be for falafels only.
Me: I just want to be in the south of France right now but wanting it and reality are two different things.
Him: I want it only on falafels
Me: I hope you enjoy the shawarma you just made for yourself.
Cathy turns heel and walks out with dramatic flair.
And ...scene!
I will never set foot in that establishment again.
Living Social reimbursed my voucher within 8 hours of submitting my complaint to them.Listed in: Train Wrecks, Swarms of Shawarma, Better Than BP Medication

A note to people who have purchased vouchers for Falafel Plus:
Groupon issued me $5 to try out their Now! Deals so I used it towards a $5 voucher for $8 at Falafel Plus. When I got there, there was a sign that said that Living Social and Groupon vouchers could not be used towards items that contained chicken. This was not stated in the fine print on the Groupon. In fact, the voucher does not say any special restrictions for menu items.
I originally wanted a Mediterranean Mix (Organic chicken, falafel & salad in pita) but the guy said that it would be an extra $2 for the chicken. I decided on the Mediterranean Mix sans the chicken. It was still tasty but I really wondered what the real pita would have been like.
Hope other vouchers users see this review before heading to Falafel Plus! -

This place is a tiny hole in the wall of goodness. Service has always been great here. The first time I came here I was really impressed with the burst of flavors the vegetarian falafel had to offer.
Unfortunately lately it hasn't been the same for the ever so popular falafel. I still get everything in mine buts it lacks flavor and leaves you with an incomplete feeling. You know like something is missing. I also think the pita should be heated up somehow...maybe under a paninni press?
The portion is very generous for $7 dollars.
Consistency is key to keeping your customer base. I hope they get back to how flavorful the falafel pitas were. Now they are just ok but still better then other places. Not greasy and fresh.
Kosher- certified.
Another thing that bothers me is how dark, dingy and kinda unkept the kitchen looks (even though I never find it dirty or untidy). For a newish place (5 or 6 yrs old?) it should look squeaky clean and sparkely! But still once a upon a time goodness came out of this tiny kitchen. Lately? No so much but who knows maybe the other stuff tastes better. I gotta give it a try. -

The owners at this place need to get serious.
Few weeks ago I purchased $8 Groupon for this place so I went there for the first time.
I was surprised that as soon as I entered the guy behind the counter says "If you're using coupons, they don't apply to all menus with chicken."
On the Groupon website no such thing was mentioned - it simply said the coupon is good for food & drinks.
I was going to order chicken shawarma plate and falafel wrap - so the guy said then they'll give the discount for falafel wrap only.
So I still got the discount but at this point I already felt dissatisfied on their attitudes.
What irritated me the most was in the end they got my order wrong and gave me 2 wraps - chicken wrap and falafel wrap - instead of chicken plate that I ordered.
The guy was obviously too focused on the fact that the coupon cannot be used towards chicken and he didn't listen when I clearly said "plate".
I took the wraps home and my husband and I tried them - we used to live on Denman st. and falafels and shawarmas there are so much better. These weren't horrible but they also had nothing that "wows" us.
If you live close by then maybe, but for me it was definitely not worth the trip to get $3 or $5 off with a coupon and experience bad bad service. -

Why eat at Wendy's when you can eat here. Crunch veggies and crispy tender falafel in a warm pita.
Mmmmm. Sorry. I tried to take a picture but I ate it and then remembered the camera. But it's filling and there's an entertainment coupon! I'll be coming back! -
Review from S. Z.
First time trying this place using a Groupon. I was a bit hesitant because the place looks run down and not fresh. I ordered a falafel pita, veggie lasagna, spinach pie and potato knish.
The falafel pita was the best out of all! I loved the texture crunchiness of the falafel. The pita could have been heated up, but that's ok. I selected to have the humus, tomato and cucumber, and another veggie filling (can't pronounce it -- kinda like cous cous and some greens). I didn't want any of the sour or vinaigrette veggies. I didn't really find the other dishes outstanding.
Amazing and recommended! -

Let me start off this review by saying that I hate Falafel. Or rather hated Falafel.. until I ate it here. I was so used to the greasy, over-fried golf balls that I never really gave it a chance.
Imagine my surprise when I decided to try it again here, only to have my previous opinion wiped out by these scrumptious, crispy ovals of chickpea Kosher deliciousness. The Falafel plate was excellent, with so many flavours coming together, with the perfect falafel at the centre. It makes a perfect light lunch, but if you have a bigger appetite, be prepared to leave wanting more.
Also, the staff (I'm assuming they're also the owners) there were very warm and friendly and made the cozy restaurant inviting and pleasant.
Take it from this former Falafel-hater: Do yourself a favour and ignore all the big box stores and chains, and get yourself a good, honest meal from some very nice people. -

The only reason I can't give it 5 stars is because I'm a meatatarian. Otherwise, 5 stars! I read about this place over a year ago and it's right by my work but I just did not get around to going...
Last week, I had a craving for chickpeas! I don't know why but I did and I thought of this place. We went for lunch and had the falafel plate. Well, it was delicious!!! I loved the green salad the most which was perfectly dressed. I am going back just for that tomorrow! What a find! I was stuffed after lunch and I didn't miss the meat, which is very surprising to me! This place is going into our lunch time rotation.Listed in: West Broadway (Fairview/Mt.…

Quick Note: Closed on Saturdays in observance of Shabbat. (I made the mistake awhile back walking here from Downtown only to find myself walking back home once again across the Cambie bridge with no Falafel in tow).
I haven't been to Egypt or Israel to taste their respective authentic falafel cuisine. I did get a chance to taste a few falafel places around North America during my road trip days and I'm glad to find the best tasting falafel in a pita creation right in Vancouver.
Crunchy outside, tasty inside, freshly prepared, and organic. For $6.50 you get an Oh-my-God-how-can-I-finish-this pita smeared with hummus, stuffed with falafel balls, loads of never-ending vegetables in every bite including beets, fresh and pickled cucumber, peperoncini, lettuce, tomatoes, then finished in tahini sauce.
With friendly and straight-up service, you'll be coming back for more.
My only gripe is the hole-in-the-wall non-airconditioned space with only one available table to sit outside in a very commercial Cambie district that will make you skip past by this place. Don't! The next time you're in the area, make sure to stop by.
So how can you finish it? Trust me, after one bite, you know you will. -

I may be a meatarian but if the veggie is tasty I can't argue with that.
I came here at Marc D's recommendation but he never said this place was a vegetarian place but I am glad I didn't pass over it. Lol inside joke. Had the falafel plate spicy. (organic). First of all the multigrain pita was soft and tasty, the vegetables were so fresh and crispy. The homus was good and the falafel was really good I wish they were bigger. So for a meatarian it was Great! -

Authentic Israeli falafel. They fry the falafel fresh for you as you order it. Used to be located on Broadway in Kits, and moved into this area now. They are certified kosher.
I have to say I hate what is happening to this neighbourhood though. The number of box stores in the immediate area is just darn scary! But at least among the big boxes you can find a little hideaway and get a damn good falafel!Listed in: Vancouver Middle Eastern Food

Best falafel I've had since living in Montreal. They even deep fry the falafel when you order it, so it is piping hot and amazing. The pitas are huge - have one (with 3-4 falafel balls) - you can count on skipping dinner (I can survive on one from lunch until 7 hrs later, and I *love* my food!). Amazing value for the money, and so, so, so good.

I got hooked on falafel years ago on a trip to Israel. The falafel at Falafel Plus is as good as what I remember eating in Israel, and is waaaay better than any falafel I've eaten anywhere else. And it's organic, too! Highly recommended!

The falafel here is fresh and tasty. It is actually the only place I've found in Vancouver so far, in which they make the falafel when you order it. That's the proper (and only) way to make good falafel - I really don't understand the widespread phenomenon of microwaving falafel. I'll be back...

Great falafels! They cook the falafel as you order it. Most places make them ahead of time and just reheat. Such a difference in taste. You can add all sorts of delicious stuff to the pita, too. My favorite falafel place in the city.

I enjoyed the food and service here. The only downside is that both times I visited, they were out of things I wanted (once there was no tabouli, and once there was no spinach pie, among other items) so keeping a good inventory is something they might need to work on. Also, their newspapers were weeks old both times I visited, so keeping current newspapers would be nice. I think there employees are friendly, and the food is decent, so I will likely return in the near future.

Fresh with a little something different. Falafels weren't smothered in hummus or overly fried but served with tasty veggies and a bit of tang. The whole wheat pita was a nice touch.

I've been thinking about trying this place for a while now, every time I'm a the depot I almost eat here and never do it and now I know why... it's not good. It's not gross or terrible but it just doesn't hit the spot. The falafal itself is crunchy and hot but lacks depth and demenion but could be great with a heap of toppings. The topping were the actual problem for me, while they were fresh they just lack flavor and moisture. I want tahini and lots of it! I couldn't even taste in because of the thick dense whole wheat pita. It just felt too healthy and not for me. Decent service though.
