This marvellous and historic hotel is celebrating its 100th birthday. They had a sale on rooms @ $19 per night (or some such rediculously low price!) - but you had to line up on a Thursday (I work during the day - so no good for me), and the stay was for 1 day next week. I wish this had been for some time in the summer! I was not able to take advantage of this event, but I hope they have other specials that I will be able to take in.

I am fortunate to have been to Winston's a couple of times. It truly is upper class and I really enjoyed my experiences there, both enhanced by the company at I was with.

I've also been to a wedding here. It's so picturesque and perfect for such an event! The bride and groom got a room with the balcony overlooking the lift locks. It was a beautiful wedding in a beautiful setting. I can just about imagine the photos!! Maaaahhhhvellous!

Worth the money, obviously not every day, but for special events for sure.

    To the castle, please!

Brunch at Fairmont Château Laurier is AMAZING!

Very good service, many different choices.

I went here for their Father's day brunch. You MUST make reservations in advance, because during special holidays these places are PACKED. They seat you right away, and ask you if you'd like coffee and juice, or both.

Expensive yes. Worth it, heck yes!

Their utensils, plates, and glasses were very aesthetically pleasing, too!

Good selection of meats as well as seafood. Also, a whole dessert aisle! YES! Try their chocolate mousse. It's served in a small glass with whip cream on top, and a piece of chocolate on top of that. It is SO GOOD!

It also helps that the hotel is gorgeous, with an olden day feel.

The area is surrounded by huge glass windows, so you have a pretty view. The double doors open sometimes I believe, so you may go out and take pictures. You may also take pictures by the stairway or the entrance.

Photos will be uploaded. I bet your mouth will water.

my friend and i stayed here after a horrid experience at the westin across the street. we had made last minute reservations due to switching hotels and they were very accommodating and pleasant. we had absolutely no problem getting the room we wanted and for less then what we had originally paid at the westin. the exterior of this hotel is beautiful and historic. Farimont is known for their fabulous experiences and it definitely lived up to the expectation.

the interior is grand with a huge lobby and sophisticated design. it's meant to look historic and traditional. don't expect to see confusing modern furniture or awkward sculptures here, you can find that across the street (haha)

my friend had told me that apparently the castle is supposedly haunted so it definitely added to the experience. the room we stayed in was small with small doors and old fashioned decor. however, it was organized, clean and had an amazing view. the beds were extremely comfortable and we didn't have any disturbances through-out the night and into the morning.

room service was delicious and worth the money. the portions were generous and the menu was very versatile. i would definitely stay here again, everyone was personable and welcoming.

The place is very nice, seemed to be very well organized.   I didnt stay in the hotel but i was there for three days for a meeting.  Its a great location where all the action is.

Only problem i had was wifi is not a option,  Which can really ruin your communication if your from the states

This hotel is so sophisticated! I came here in August with my boyfriend and his family for some celebratory drinks before dinner. We were a party of 9 and we were seated in Zoé's Lounge. The leather chairs were large and comfortable. The lobby and lounge both have a great old-time charm, with large columns, high ceilings, chandeliers, and soft, dim lighting. There was also a live pianist in the lounge that played cool, soft-rock music while singing.

We were given a couple bowls of a peanut-and-pretzel type of snack mix while we decided what to order. Most of us had an alcoholic beverage or two, including Caesars, mojitos, and Mai Tais. I had their Grand Grapefruit Cosmopolitan. It was delicious and refreshing, with fresh juice and it wasn't too sour or alcohol-tasting.  It's the kind of place that you would go to if you were in the mood for a fancy and formal celebration, so the prices are higher than you would usually pay for drinks, but their restaurant menu items are reasonably priced. The restaurant has a great selection of what I consider Canadian-International fusion dishes, in addition to Sunday brunch and tea. They also have spaces and dining areas that you can rent when planning meetings and events.

A beautiful hotel with excellent service! It literally looked like a castle. My room was quite lovely, the bed was so comfortable. There's also a gym that I went to a few times, which was down in the basement/ground floor. It was good sized, towels and water was provided.

The location was great too, walking distance to the mall, the market, and several restaurants. Parliament isn't too far off as well as some museums.

It was built chateausque in the early 1900s. The room size for the queen beds are a little on the smaller side. But I paid only $160 a night to hob nob with those on business accounts and the rich and think they are famous.

Yes, it seems so 1990s with only fast Ethernet in the room. But I hardly ever travel without my trusty airport express for instant wireless.

Love the high end Miller Harris citron line of toiletries... Wished they replaced daily.

The towels were soft and heavy. They were heavy Terry robes available for lounging in.

One little negative.  My el cheapo room faces the courtyard not the famous rideau canal.

My girlfriend and I enjoyed a very large Fairmont King View Room for two nights. While normally rather pricey, we took advantage of her qualifying for a government rate, you can't beat the atmosphere, view and location for exploring what downtown Ottawa has to offer.

We also took Canadian High Tea in Zoe's lounge and it was an experience we will always remember. Highly recommended and well worth the expense.

    Plus, it's a fricken' castle!

Pro tip: Sign up for free President's Club and get complimentary in room internet, which is very fast, but ETHERNET only. Wifi is in the lobby though.

Hard to think of a nicer hotel in Canada. All the staff were so friendly and accommodating. The concierge was brilliant, and best tip I can give is make use of them, they are there to make your stay a 5 star experience.

This hotel looked like a castle on the outside and was very plush on the inside. You pay for the location, architecture and history. There are a wide range of rooms but they start off in the mid 100's and work their way up. The location is fabulous though. You can walk to anything...including Parliament! It's got great views of the whole city, Parliament, the canal, hell, you can even see over into Quebec! I would suggest you stay here any time your travels bring you to Ottawa.

It is such a lovely experience to goto the lounge for high tea or for an evening chocolate fondue and drink.

The lounge menu is very pricey - I once ordered a steak and frites, and the quality was disappointing, so on top of that the price was even more upsetting.

However, we go back often for an evening drink, there is often a professional playing the piano and singing...  it's beautiful when it's raining out with the high ceiling, chandeliers, and glass windows looking out over Rideau/Wellington...

Also, high tea is such  a divine experience.  They roll the old-fashioned tea cart over for you to choose, the food is scrumptious.

High tea at the Chateau Laurier is an Ottawa must!  We were much too full to finish everything, by the way.  It is $32 and up per person, but you will definitely fill up!  We went at 5pm (the last seating) and it was our dinner.

This landmark hotel is simply breathtaking - it is a castle! Marble floors, high ceilings, romantic ambiance. It is in the center of busy downtown, right in the middle of everything.

The hotel is right across from Byward Market, which is a downtown area with bars, restaurants, and tons of little shops. Behind it is the American Embassy and next to it is Parliament Hill. The buildings, streetlamps, sidewalks, and statues look like something from a postcard.

My deluxe room is ~500sqft, nearly the size of my home in CA. I love the clean white bedsheets, fluffy pillows, and bouncy mattresses. The TV is a little small but all the necessary channels are available.

Their room service is simply amazing. My colleague and I ordered room service on our first night's stay as we got in late. The menu was from one of their restaurants downstairs - Zoe's. The guy brought in all the food in on a rolling table and set up our dinnerware and food so carefully. We ordered crab cakes for appetizers. I had a slice of salmon and capers quiche as my entree and maple creme brulee for dessert. The creme brulee was to die for. It came in 3 little cups, each topped with a thin cookie in the shape of a maple leaf. The creme brulee was so light and sweet. MMM....

Canadians are so friendly. Perhaps I have been in California too long.
