How much can I say... the pistachio was for REAL.

Small spot, on a busy evening, there's probably a (short) line (you'll need it while you are deciding), and there's a couple tables.

    But gelato is yum!

I love gelato, and this place is outstanding!

They have so many delicious flavors to choose from, and the service has always been good to me. This place is an awesome choice if you don't want to hit up Molly Moon's Ice Cream, which is nearby (also in Wallingfor), after dinner in the area.

This place only has street parking, but once you find a spot you'll be delighted you stopped by. It's a cozy little place with a decent amount of table and chairs for its size, and I really like how they give you two small scoops instead of one typical sized scoop for a single scoop. This way, you can order a single scoop but actually get two scoops.

I'm Italian, and I know good gelato, and this is AMAZING gelato my friends.
I would drive for a whole day just to eat this again!

The only downside, is that there is no bathroom.

I was first drawn to this place by its name, to be quite honest.  And then I saw the glowing reviews...

The Fainting Goat is a stand-out gelato place on 45th street in Seattle.  Simply amazing.  Decadent.  Sinful.

If I lived in Seattle, I would be at this place again and again (lactose intolerance be damned!)

One of the best parts is that even a small size gelato comes with two scoops of two different flavors.  They are patient as you try as many as you like, trying to decide which ones to get and combine.  Waffle bowls are only $1 more and totally worth it.  Who needs a spoon when you can scoop up your gelato with a corner of a bowl!

I was with friends and luckily got to try their selections as well.  I chose salted caramel (very rich and delicious) and nutella (a classic gelato flavor I can never say no to).  Both were creamy and delightful.  My friends both got the dark chocolate which was amazing.  I feel that even if you don't like dark chocolate in bar form, you'd still probably like this gelato.  I also got to try the mint, which was delicate and subtle, and the hazelnut which was a little sweet but also excellent.

I can't say enough great things about this place.  Worth a trip up to Wallingford if you're in the Seattle area.  You won't regret it!!

Seriously amazing.  The gelato is so decadently creamy and smooth.  I had mango and pink grapefruit sorbet.  The sorbet almost had an ice cream-like texture to it.  Very smooth and not icy or grainy; I seriously had forgotten for a moment that it was sorbet.  Grapefruit had a bold taste, while the mango flavor was more subtle.  I LOVED both.

BEST gelato I have ever had.  This is definitely my new gelato/ice cream shop of choice.

I have a major issue with this place. I need to pick 2 flavors for my small scoop...but how do I choose?? All of the flavors here are just so good... I end up being indecisive for a long time until I finally had to choose. (promising myself to come back for the other flavors)

The lady who worked behind the counter was super nice in letting me try out most of the flavors before deciding. Last time I had roasted almond and hazelnut which were both very delicious. If you are not in the mood for Molly Moon's, definitely come here for gelato which is lighter and less filling than ice cream. But as a warning, be prepared for indecision.

Be sure to check out the fainting goat inside. Ha!

My last experience was horrid, but my first experience was pretty good.  I had pineapple, and it was just so flavorful and fresh, perfect for that one day of summer that we have in Washington.

The last time I went, I tried the pineapple, again. This time, however, the pineapple tasted kind of artificial and grainy.  Sometimes, people have an off day, I thought.  I mean sometimes I have not so great cooking days.

I was still in a forgiving mood, so I ordered the salted caramel.  It tasted like...how can say this delicately, a goat fainted in it.  It was just offensive.

We walked out, and threw our gelato's in the trash down the street on our way to Molly Moon.

Unfortunate.  I had high expectations for this place after the first time.  And as I said, sometimes people have an off day.  But the day was off enough to make me not want to return.

Note to self:  I don't like goats in my gelato.

Ok, who can seriously tell me that they could stand passing by a place named Fainting Goat with a picture of well....a passed out goat, and not go in? Well, that's what happened to me. My roommate and I were on the way to Delancey and to pass the time we tend to read signs out loud. Suddenly I heard "Fainting Goat.....hahahahaha OMG CAN WE GO??". I turned and saw Fainting Goat Gelato and we both just knew that would be our stop after dinner. We came into the store and the first thing I noticed was how many flavors of gelato there were. Like other reviewers have mentioned they have a lot of really unique and interesting flavors. Their gelato is flavorful and creamy. If you're in Ballard, this is one place you should definitely stop by and try out.

This place was great.  I can here for a (second) dessert after dinner at Joule.  I tried a few flavors before settling on the lemon and sour cherry.  The lemon gelato had delicious bite-size pieces of biscuit and lemon curd- the added crunch made it really interesting.  Service was really friendly and helpful- and they were making the waffle cones while I was there- the whole place smelled amazing and how fresh is that?  I also liked that they had a couch (as well as some tables and chairs) which made for a  really laid-back fun place to enjoy dessert.  If I had to chose, I'd pick this over MM's.

How in the world do I keep forgetting to review such amazing places??

I adore Fainting Goat. There have been a few times when the line was out the door, but even then it's worth it. When available, get the honey rose and lavender flavors. They are exceptional and will leave your breath smelling lovely.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! My best friend and I were craving some gelato and decided to try this place out. Oh boy, was it worth it!

    We tried several flavors:

Salted Caramel: This tasted more like butterscotch with a slight saltiness to balance the sweet flavor of caramel.

Guava: I swear it was like I was eating the fruit, but in a creamy, slightly more sweet form.

Rose Honey: My friend thought it was weird because of the rose flavor. It is slightly sweeten with honey and the rose flavor was faint, but will leave you second guessing your taste buds.

    Pistachio: So nutty! So good!

Pink Grapefruit: Absolutely amazing! When I think of pink grapefruit, I think of a very citrus, sour taste, however this changed my mind! The pink grapefruit gelato was very light and refreshing especially on a hot day!

The owners were very sweet and patient. Although they do serve goat milk gelato, we didn't feel adventurous enough to try it, but there is always next time!

I'm so glad there's a place in Wallingford for frozen treats besides Molly Moon's. I laughed to myself as we walked past the huge line at MM's to the relatively empty Fainting Goat. I had a small serving, which lets the customer pick two different flavors. I chose banana cream and espresso. The banana cream was all right, if a bit bland, but the espresso-flavored gelato was excellent. I like my coffee to have a strong, slightly burnt finish, even when it's mixed into gelato, and Fainting Goat did not let me down. The small serving, by the way, was plenty big for me, and fairly priced at about $3.75. So, yeah, I'll be back. The owners are really friendly, the gelato is good -- I can't imagine why the place isn't busier.

How can you not love gelato? The prices were good and the servings were huge. I'm used to getting tiny scoops of gelato but these were great! The only reason this gets four stars and not five is the decor inside the shop. The layout and look are a little funky (and not in a good way). If you are looking for ice cream and the line at Molly Moon's is insane, come check out this spot.

Waffle Cone, you are amazing.  Your smell, your crunch, your flavor. The warmth of pleasure you provided my mouth was like no other I have experienced before. I enjoyed you a bit more than the Pistachio ice cream inside of you, which was given so generously (2 whopping snowball scoops).

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO good!!! They have tons of flavor options and really, they are all pretty damn good. The salted caramel was my favorite. But all the other flavors I tried were delicious and creamy. I found myself wanting to sample them all, but had some restraint.
The prices were reasonable and the scoops were pretty good size too. We came really close to closing, so we were able to sit and eat. But the shop is fairly small with limited seating, so you might not get a place to sit. Parking in that area can be really tough too.

Best gelato in the Seattle area. Favorite flavors: fig vanilla, pink guava, hazelnut, espresso, almond, & dark chocolate... so far. Yes, it's quite the list but that's how great their gelato is! Vibrant, but not overpowering, spot-on flavors.

Ventured in one summer night around 9pm after catching a flick at the Guild 45th down the street. The place only had a few people inside which was nice because it was quiet. My friend and I were greeted by a young guy behind the counter. Since we had never been there before, he was very patient as we looked over all the tantalizing gelato options. He also gave us some information about the business and the owners (Why is it named Fainting Goat?) We were offered several samples until we decided on half fig vanilla and espresso for me, and half pink guava and hazelnut for my friend (couldn't decide on just one flavor).

A few people and I stopped by last night and were served by the very friendly owners. Again, the gelato and the service did not disappoint. It was also filled with more people and surprisingly toasty inside (not my usual experience in creamy dessert shops). We tried the banana cream, pistachio, almond, nutella, and casanova. All were delicious except my friend said the casanova was just OK.

Whenever I have a gelato craving, I know I can count on Fainting Goat.

Upon our landing the first day of our whole trip, we were treated to gelato's Fainting Goat. This place is COOL, literally!

    Luckily, there was no line!

I, being all indecisive, with flavors literally sampled everything. I finally chose the Almond & was in heaven. I ordered a scoop on a cone & did a twirl.....hahahah!!!

I was sad they didn't have the tree bark flavor in season, or it was all sold out. They were going to close for 6 weeks, so good thing we checked this place out.

My family rocked the Pistachio flavors and other ones that I have no recollection of.

It was FUN and my uncle got a few shirts.....of the Fainting Goat.....CUTE!

Why wait in line for Molly Moon's when you can walk over to Fainting Goat? After having dinner at Musashi's, my friend told me I owe him FG gelato for dessert since I forgot to bring cash to cover my dinner. Anyways, we walked over and was relieved there was no line at the place.

They offer a great selection of gelato but I was torn between pistachio, stracciatella, creme brulee and tiramisu. My friend pointed out they offered nutella gelato so impulsively ordered a scoop of that with their house made waffle cone. I know one cannot go wrong with nutella but this in gelato form was so blissful! I pretty much took my time to savor it.

This seriously was the perfect way to end dinner. If you're in the area looking for dessert, do yourself a favor and get some Fainting Goat Gelato!

I love desserts and sweets and my favorite place to get dessert is Fainting Goat. The flavors are unique and delectable. The portions they give are fantastic and the price is great. My favorite flavors are avocado, lemon grisbi (lemon gelato with cookie bits), as well as unique seasonal flavors. All I can say is: Pumpkin Spice- I would take a bullet for you.

I love this place!!! It's the second best Gelato in the city and a lot closer to me than Ballard. It makes me sad that Molly Moon gets all the play when this little place so DESERVES lines down the block. It's all made fresh daily by seemingly rad people.

My favorite flavor is their seasonal Pumpkin Spice, but the Pistachio is crazy good! The Nutella and Salted Caramel are really great too. They always have rotating flavors and new things to try which I love!
I like that they serve Theo hot chocolate too!! YUM!!! It's the perfect winter treat: hot chocolate and Gelato.

I have to go buy a pint of the pumpkin spice before it goes out of season! The Chinook book has a buy one scoop get one free if you have that!! BONUS!!

    You can ask for sprinkles!!!

A huge favorite. Don't get me wrong, I love and respect Gelatiamo forever - the two establishments are very different but equally delicious. Fainting Goat is homier, more casual, easier for me to get to on a regular basis (location), and has very generous portions. Favorite flavors are green tea, roasted almond, guava, lemon, yogurt (thought i would hate it), mastic, nutella, dark choc, and on and on. Molly does-not-make-ice-cream-from-scratch Moon is a joke compared to Fainting Goat. Sigh, I love them and I wish they would invite me on their family vacations to Turkey.

The gelato here absolutely SUPERB! By far the best gelato I've had.

I got the stracciatella (vanilla with chocolate flakes) it's hard to pronounce but oh so good! They had a variety of flavors but one that stuck out at me was the nutella gelato which I haven't tried yet. Another reason to go back, right?

Just had the cherry jubilee gelato from the Fainting goat and almost fell on the ground and fainted myself it was so good.  Perfect combination of fruity sweetness, chocolate chip pieces, and tart cherries.  I had a moment of inspiration and paired it with a scoop of dark chocolate gelato in a waffle cone...best idea I've had all day.

Considering going back to get more.

(Other great flavors -- pink grapefruit, nutella, tiramasu, -- are also a great way to enjoy a lovely sunny Seattle afternoon in the summer.)

Fainting Goat is just as amazing (if not moreso) than nearby Molly Moon's, so I do not understand why this place was not more busy than it was when I went in on a Sunday afternoon.  They have a wide range of flavors, the service was great and the available seating provided a cozy and inviting setting.

The fig vanilla flavor is something that I was hesitant to try, but that was absolutely divine and refreshing.  The tiramisu also had a great flavor to it and the chocolate flavoring was not too overpowering.  I am excited to go back to this place as they change their offerings often.  They even have a Nutella flavored gelato that I hope they have next time I am in!  It was pretty fainting good if I do say so myself.

This is not the gelato you're used to.  It's more like a hybrid between ice cream and gelato.

That being said, this stuff is delish!  Their prices are fair, and they were willing to write us a little card to break out our Groupon into a couple visits instead of us buying some pints of gelato to go.

Service was friendly, and their selection was enough to make it a difficult decision.

Oh, and in case you were wondering, it's not very nice to make one of the fainting goats faint.  It stresses them out.

It's a personal preference thing, but I think Molly Moon's is just much better.  The gelato here was really sweet - I had the stracciatella, salted caramel, hazelnut, and creme brulee (you get 4 flavors in a large) - the only one I enjoyed was the salted caramel.  The others had sort of a uniform taste and texture.  I particularly disliked the creme brulee which had no crispy brulee bits and instead tasted like spices.

If I come here again (likely because the like at Molly's is too long), I'll be sticking to the salted caramel only.

The goat might have fainted, but I definitely remained standing for this one..

It was a really nice night out in Wallingford. We had two options:

    1. to stand in a long line for Molly Moon's and try a flavor one could confuse for dinner or dessert but which we knew would be delicious OR

    2. to stand in a long line for fainting goat and try more standard yet indulgent flavors.

It was a hard call.  After just having an Italian meal nearby we opted for the gelato option.

After a 25 minute wait in line, we entered the gelato shop and I sampled a few gelato flavors before I made the decision to go with Nutella and Mint. It was pretty good but maybe I was expecting more with all the hype and with a line that long. I had never been here before.

The flavors were nice and the lemon grisby ended up being my favorite flavor overall followed by the salted caramel after trying both of these from a friend. The scoops were large too so you get your money's worth!

But overhyped? Hmmm, maybe. I wasn't totally wow'd like I wanted to be.

Salted caramel and coffee flavors on a waffle cone are so good. Not overly saltly, nor overly sweet or heavy... just very well balanced. This is perfect after having sushi at Musashi's down the street.

While there is usually a small line, you don't have to wait in the ridiculous line at Molly Moons. I want to give four stars but the service merits a -1. The last few times we've stopped by, it seemed like the staff just didn't want to be there and couldn't care less if you were patronizing their business. Hopefully management addresses this soon.

The gelato is a bit too sweet for me and that's coming from someone who loves sweets.

Staff is friendly, and like most places, you can try their different unique flavors. I wouldn't go out of my way to drive there and satiate a gelato craving, but it's good on a warm summer night if you're in the area.

I've been coming to this shop for over a year now and it was only tonight on my way home from picking up a couple of pints that I thought, "Hey, I should really review them."

While Molly Moon's gets the lions share of the crowds down the street, the better product is actually a little ways down 45th at the Fainting Goat.   I can generally gauge how long the line will be by seeing how far out the door at Molly Moon's is but every time go up the street.

The couple that owns the establishment ran a Groupon a while back and while I'm sure they took a bath financially, the good news is in recent months some of the folks that used their Groupons are coming back.

They put out fantastic gelatos--the Cinnamon, when they have it, is my favorite--and even better sorbets.  Their Lemon sorbet tastes of lemons, instead of a cloying chemical facsimile of what lemons should taste like.  Their Virgin Mojito sorbet is another addiction that I have to withdraw from at some point as well.

All in all, great product, locally owned and using local ingredients equals a business I can get behind.  The fact that it tastes as good as it does doesn't hurt either.
