This is a nice four-star hotel nestled in a quiet area just outside downtown Ottawa. The place itself was great; all of the amenities, a kitchen, two HD tv's, a workout facility and a very clean layout. What made the experience a 3 as opposed to a 4 or 5 was somewhat bad service.
Firstly, for a place as nice as this, it is now customary to expect free wireless internet service. I've been to 2 and 3-star hotels that have this feature. However, we learned that it would cost $5 to obtain wireless access. No big deal, I said.
However the connection didn't go through; so after a few calls the front-desk referred us to some toll-free line where we were put on the phone with a technical support agent. Finally, about 45 minutes later, we got it! But then we lost the connection. Then got it back again. Through this, the front desk lady was not overly helpful nor pleasant.
This made an otherwise pleasurable experience quite average. This might have just been an exception, and perhaps others won't have this problem or even care for a free wireless connection. But I felt this needs to be known regardless! -

No 'deluxe' here. Cheap furnishings. No soundproofing. Use only if price is your only consideration,

Normal. Nothing too fantastic or too bad either. Nice and clean. Internet = a frustrating endeavor.
I spent a week here for an national improv competition; all the different teams did. We all were grateful that there was a hotel that put up with all of us. This being said we did get a noise complaint or two. To be fair we were kinda loud....
