Review from Glyn C.
This is an old hotel that acts it. If you just need a clean bed for the night the 1/2 price (compared to anything decent nearby), is attractive I used Expedia and got a $69 room.
The one elevator is tiny. I banged my hip into the square corner of the brass railing that juts out near the tiny door. The walkways to the rooms are open to the outside air's ambient temperature and moisture.
They said I could park underground and access the elevator. I could not... the doors were locked, in contradiction to their comment and the posted signs. I had to walk all the way around with my bags once I had parked underneath.
The shower in my room had a very sensitive control valve. I was either cold or too hot unless I doggedly fiddled with it, making micro adjustments.
I think the south and east facing rooms will be noisy, due to traffic on the major boulevards. There will be a lot of truck traffic noise. My room faced west (towards a side street), and was moderately noisy from morning traffic.
Access to the hotel can be difficult during heavy traffic.
Wi-fi works... slowly.
Breakfast in the restaurant is terrible. The Continental breakfast is gone; replaced with a cheap and basic breakfast menu. I regretably did breakfast a second time only because I was in a big hurry to make an appointment. For example, ham is thinly-sliced sandwich meat and the "sausage" is more like a greasy, little hot dog.
However...it is a cheap room! -

We thought that this would be a good, inexpensive hotel for an overnight stay for a weekend trip to Richmond. Unfortunately, we had quite a disappointing experience. It was definitely not worth the savings to stay here.
ROOM
The hotel room that we were first provided with had adequate space for our toddler's travel crib and for her to run around in. This particular room also came with a decently-sized refrigerator. The cleanliness of the room was a little suspect, especially the bathroom - the sink/counter front had a large coffee splash stain on it (one that was easily wiped away) and it was clear that the floor beneath the sink had not been swept in some time - there was leftover trash (!) and lots of dust. The rooms also opened up into a semi-internal glass-walled hallway, at the end of which was the hotel restaurant and in the center of which was a large outdoor courtyard with a jacuzzi, making the hallway as cold as being outside.
The real problem with the room came shortly after midnight, when we began to hear a repetitive clicking sound - like an old, sticky light switch being switched on and off every minute or so. It was loud enough to keep us awake, and sounded as though it was coming from the ceiling. When we mentioned it to the front desk, they said that they'd never heard that complaint before but that they could move us to a different room if we preferred. Having a sleeping toddler, we initially declined, but when the clicking got louder and more frequent, we decided to move.
The second room that we were provided with had a warmer ambiance than the first, but we couldn't specify why - perhaps warmer bulbs in the track lighting. In any case, the cleanliness factor was about the same as the first room (with the addition of bits of hair here and there) but we were able to at least sleep the rest of the night in click-free peace.
Our family occupied three other rooms and out of these, two had refrigerators, and all about the same level of cleanliness. Two of them were about 3 feet narrower than the other two rooms, but all had Queen beds. The beds were decent - a little bit soft and taco-y, but comfortable, and the sheets appeared clean. All of the rooms were on the first floor of the hotel. If you stay on the second floor, be aware that at least one of the rooms has a vending machine literally right outside its door.
SERVICE
The person at the front desk upon check-in was polite and friendly enough, but could not tell us if our room had a refrigerator - he said that some rooms had them while others did not (they did not have any for rent).
The person at the front desk who gave switched us to a different room in the middle of the night could not have been less friendly, apathetic or indifferent to us or our situation. When he handed my husband the new key cards, he seemed most concerned with getting the old key cards back and could not fathom why we needed two key cards to the new room. As we moved our toddler and all of our luggage and her crib across the lobby (btw, I am noticeably pregnant), he stood behind the front desk and stared at us with a blank, unfriendly look on his face as I gave him a tentative smile. He said absolutely nothing.
The person who checked us out did her job - nothing more, nothing less - and didn't ask us how our stay was, likely because she already knew the answer to that one!
The person who served us our "breakfast" was really quirky and abrupt but throughout our time in the restaurant showed herself to be more of an odd duck than flat-out rude, although I'm sure she's inadvertently turned many a customer off.
"BREAKFAST"
Our stays came with a complimentary continental breakfast. When we walked into the restaurant and asked about the food, the woman said abruptly, "Coffee, juice and toast - that's it," and walked back into the kitchen. We all looked at each other like, "Uh...what?" but sat down anyways. They also did not have any high chairs, but she pushed an armchair up to the table for our toddler. The juice came in small glasses sitting in small ceramic bowls and tasted kind of...off (I still have no idea why they were in the bowls), and each person had a choice of two pieces of white or wheat toast, which came with a bowl of prepackaged strawberry jam, orange marmalade, and butter. We were also able to have black tea in place of coffee.
We will not be staying here again - the whole experience was not enjoyable and there are plenty of other hotels in the area that will offer better accommodations and service for comparable pricing. -
Review from Jando S.
The nice thing about the Executive Inn Express is that it's a good hotel for a quick trip in Richmond / Vancouver. It's situated right next to the airport and the prices are usually fairly low. But like most hotels, you get what you pay for and there isn't much to offer here. In the end it feels like a motel with a few more bells and whistles to it.
Though the rooms could use a little improvement, things could certainly be a lot worse. Beds seem comfy here, but the room space is fairly small for single occupancy oriented rooms. Don't even bother with the continental breakfast, it's a complete joke. Watered down orange juice, some bagels, fruit, and muffins apparently qualify as a continental worthy meal. No wonder it's complimentary.
Among the other limitations to this hotel is the parking. There isn't much room for vehicles here if it's a busy night. Some guests may have to resort to parking in other lots where they may get towed. That's never fun, so try to get in and out using their shuttle service which comes every hour or so.
As long as you know the drawbacks of this place, it makes it easy whether or not to consider staying here on a budget. If time isn't an issue, the other neighboring properties can most likely provide better accommodations than this place can. -

This place is probably not good for a long stay. Its basic at best. But the prices are low and you'll have a warm bed & good food to eat.
That little restaurant downstairs is awesome & completely makes up for the lack of pizzaz in the rooms.
