The Executive House Hotel is very much a 3-star hotel as far as hotel star ratings go, but it is excellent value for the price, the location is ideal, and the staff are wonderful, so four stars for experience and value.

The rooms could use some cosmetic updating. My room's blue carpet was showing its age, the bathtub was discoloured, and very cheap mirrored closet doors that didn't open very easily, but those were minor issues. Most importantly, the room was very clean, and I had a wonderful view of the harbour. Note to couples: Interestingly, the wall behind the headboard is completely mirrored.

The only sound I heard during my entire stay was the collective shouting and cheering from the drunken Santa bar crawl group as it passed by the street below, but otherwise it was very quiet.

The front counter staff were very friendly, but professional. They gave me an excellent breakfast recommendation, and clearly know their city well.

I wouldn't come here for a romantic getaway, but it's fine to spend the night if you're on business or just visiting and need a clean, comfortable and quiet place to rest your head.

If you're in Victoria and need a place to stay and you happen upon the Executive House Hotel... go across the street to the Chateau Vic and avoid this one.

    Point Form:

    Pros:
    -Recently renovated bathrooms
    -Nice TVs
    -Comfy (tho small) pillows

    Cons:
    -unpleasant staff
    - Holes in wall behind bedside table
    - Gross closet
    - Forgot breakfast menu every day

    Too expensive, not worth it.

Another year, another trip to Victoria.

I swear - I'm moving there at some point.

Sooooo - this is only my second trip and, while I wanted to stay at the Empress, I found that they were booked and the next best thing the Clipper Vacations had for me was Executive House.. I sullenly accepted knowing that the 140.00 savings would at least make up for it.

The lobby was small.. it led me to think I was in for a Roach Motel even though I was in Victoria and I'm almost positive they don't have roaches anywhere in the city.. there was no pool (suckage) BUT there was a hot tub, a sauna, and a workout room.. ok.. score on that.

Then we made it to the room.. HUZZAH!!! Let me tell you - a young couple on vacation is a hot thing.. but when that young couple has a prepubescent 11 yr old with them it leaves some things to be desired for.. UNTIL we walked into the room.

The boy had his own bedroom... his VERY OWN BEDROOM.. the patio opened out towards the harbor which we could see a little of - the hotel is just set back 2 blocks from Government street soooo the view would obviously lacking.

    Overall - it's a nice place - it's close to downtown Victoria - and HELLO it's 140.00 cheaper!!!

The quest is still on to stay at all the hotels that look interesting but this may become a mainstay for me.

I researched hotels online prior to booking and had some trouble finding a room on short notice for a decent price. From the photos online, the Executive House Hotel seemed just right. The hotel was within walking distance from the Clipper, it was moderately priced and the friendly staff helped us reserve a whale watching tour for the next day. It was a bit dated and dingy compared to the pictures but it was fine for the one night we spent there. We will probably look for a nicer hotel the next time we visit Victoria.
