If you want to look AND feel good, Evoke is the boutique for you. Unlike the usual assortment of Mexx, InWear, PartTwo (all of which I like) that you find in boutique after boutique, the clothes I've seen at Evoke seem to be unique in Vancouver -- a very well-curated collection that manages to be both creative and classic, with an excellent range of colours, styles and sizes.
But the really astonishing thing about this store is that every single thing I have tried on feels just amazing. This isn't yoga wear -- we're taking about dresses, suits and separates that you could wear to the office or to the party, as well as lots for weekends -- but everything has a delicious texture and/or fit.
The store's owner/manager (apologies for forgetting your name!) makes very helpful recommendations of what to try, and has gently encouraged me to try things that didn't look like much on the hanger but turned out to look terrific when I actually tried them.
My purchases so far: A simple oatmeal-colored sweater: not my usual style, but so flattering and so amazing-feeling that I couldn't resist. A blue shirtdress, in a dazzling shade that made me overlook what SEEMED to be a kind of shapeless fit -- until I tried it on, and it turned out to have this totally magic, flattering shape and the most delicious soft smooth fabric. And a nubbly knit grey circle skirt, with a wonderful fit and interesting texture, that is so comfy I wore it to fly (and sleep) on a transAtlantic flight.
So...take a look. And even if nothing particularly catches your eye, find a couple of things to try on so you can see what I mean about how amazing these clothes feel. This is a special store. -

This is THE boutique where many future compliments will be coming from. If you're like me, looking for affordable, fashionable pieces that dress up and dress down, you'll likely find it here. Or, you'll at least browsing, and getting touchy feely with what you see: shirts, pants, skirts, denim, tanks, frilly tights, hairbands (and you know how I love those)... and more... like party dresses!
Granted, this neighbourhood might not be top of mind when you think to go shopping, but trust me, it's worth a visit. They even have a sale rack, and they've only been open a month!
