Review from Meghan H.
When booking the appointment, you go through a .. I guess it's a hotline. While booking the appointment the lady on the phone asked if I would like a scented massage balm. I agreed. Who wouldn't? Thought "that was nice of her to ask..."
Went to massage, receptionists were miserable and unhelpful but the therapist was wonderful. The scented balm was like orange-y goodness.
All done, time to get dressed, time to pay up.
"Um, why is there a charge on here for 14$ for massage balm?"
"because you requested scented balm"
"Yes, I was asked if I wanted it, I didn't know I would have to sell my soul"
the 14 year old snobby receptionists were not understanding why scented balm at the hefty price of 14$ would be upsetting. I was sad because the chick on the phone forgot to mention it was not only extra, not only like 5 or 7 dollars, but 14? IT's not even like they gave me a little jar to take home. You know how some places give you the oil they used? Nope, it was soaked up by my skin and I should've enjoyed my 8 million dollar lotion all week by not showering.
What's the point of getting a massage when you have benefits if you end up fronting tip and MASSAGE BALM FEES? Brutal. Haven't been back since. Still super disappointed since it's a lovely spa and the massage was nice. Left a bad, orange-y taste in my mouth.Listed in: Happy Endingless Massages and…

Review from Emma G.
One of the stylists from Eveline Charles brought over a promotional deal to our store - offering a cut and colour for some discounted price. Needing a touch up and wanting to find a new salon to go to, I made an appointment.
When I got there, I was told that stylist was sick and that someone else would be doing my hair. They also told me that I'd need highlights to properly colour my roots (something I should have considered, I suppose, since I had done highlights in the past). They never mentioned any price difference or anything, although I know highlights are more expensive, but I still feel like it should have been addressed seeing as I booked in for a specific stylist and service, and was getting neither.
The girl who coloured my hair was unfriendly and not at all talkative. It was an awkward experience to sit there and say nothing. When they sent me to someone else for a blowdry, it was the same thing - unfriendly, bored, treating me like I was in the way.
The haircut looked nice enough - the colour was even and the cut was fine. Technically it was good but it wasn't fantastic.
The final price ended up being much more than I'd initially planned, and I felt kind of cheated - not just because it was more expensive, but because I was paying so much for such an uncomfortable experience. I am used to paying a lot for my hair colour but I'm also used to getting friendly service at higher end salons.
When I went to punch in the tip on the debit machine, I missed a digit and accidentally only put $3. The receptionist sneered at me and said, "did you REALLY want to tip $3?". In retrospect, I should have tipped nothing, but I hate doing that.
I left disappointed in myself for not being more vocal, but also disappointed that I'd had such a bad experience. Everyone who worked there treated me as if I didn't belong and as if I was inconvenient to them. I will never go back to this chain.

History
Established in 1984

Two new locations were opened by 2001 -- one Calgary hair salon and one Edmonton hair salon. In 2002, the first location outside of Alberta was opened, in Vancouver, British Columbia. Two more beauty salon facilities were opened in 2005 in Calgary. In 2006, the company opened the Kelowna hair salon & spa in BC.
