I came down to the studio today to participate in Rodney's project, Just As I Am. http://www.justasiam.ca/
I really had a great experience here - Rodney was very friendly, professional and genuine and really made me feel at ease. The photo session was very short (only 10 minutes) but I didn't feel pressured or rushed at all - I feel that if I had needed more time to get comfortable for the nude shoot I could have taken as much time as I needed. There was no one else at the studio but I didn't feel uncomfortable at all taking off my clothes and being nude around him.
After the shoot we talked for a while about the project and perceptions of beauty in our culture - he obviously has a lot of passion for his work and making people feel beautiful.
The studio is beautiful - very comfortable, clean and classy. The front of the building looks like it's been boarded up and abandoned, but the side of the building is quite attractive, and there's a gated parking lot for clients.
I'm really looking forward to seeing how my photos turned out and working with Rodney on future projects. If I'm ever in need of a photographer for beauty shots, Rodney will be at the top of my list - he has a really solid portfolio and creates a really wonderful studio experience.
