The Eva Sweets Waffle van is a regular at the downtown City Center Farmer's Market off of Jasper and 104 St. It's popular. I mean, very popular. There is always a line if the weather is even half decent out, and there are certainly always people sitting down enjoying their purchases from this place.

After months and months of resisting it, even with all the delicious fresh waffle smell wafting about the Farmer's Market... I caved. And let me tell you, trying these belgian waffles makes me want to buy a waffle maker, bad. I hate frozen waffles, they're either too mushy or too crunchy, and usually pretty flavorless. Like many things, these fresh waffles put the frozen ones to shame! I have tried the cinnamon one with icing sugar, and the Canadian maple waffle with cream and raspberry sauce. They are absolutely divine. This will become a regular stop for me when I visit the Farmer's Market. And I will always look forward to it! I already can't wait until I go again!

So go out there, find a Eva Sweets Waffles van, and go for it! You won't regret it!

p.s. Ask to start a punch card. Buy 5 waffles, you get the 6th one free! They tend to not be very consistent about handing them out, so you have to take the initiative and ask to start one (and also remember to have them punch it!).

This review is for the location in UAlberta's CAB.

After a long of class, a couple of peers and I decided to hunt down the waffles everyone raves about. Once we found it, the man at the counter was very friendly and patient. He even helped one of us decide what to get. I got the vanilla waffle with mango ice cream, whipped cream, and coconut shavings on top. Oh my goodness. It was delicious, definitely worth the $5. The waffle itself was crunchy, but soft. Sweet and subtle. Fluffy and melt-in-your-mouth goodness. I don't know how else to describe it. I will definitely make more trips (even in this cold weather) to Eva Sweet.

OM NOM NOM. A gem on the Edmonton food truck scene. Get yourself one. Get your partner one. Heck, get your mother one, I'm sure she deserves it.

Oh my goodness, what a waffle. Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside and you can taste the liege sugar they use as it crunches between bites.

I generally like my waffles plain and unspoiled, but Eva Sweet has add-ons if you prefer, like whipped cream and a variety of sauces.

You'll often find Eva Sweet at a farmer's market, or at random locations around town. Follow them on Twitter to see where they're at (@EvaSweetWaffles).

As far as waffles in Edmonton go, you cannot beat Eva Sweet. I have had a lot of waffles at various breakfast/brunch places around town, but the waffle from a van (or a trailer) is the best there is.

I checked out the little waffle trailer at Beaver Hills Park and ordered a vanilla waffle (the only flavour available -- I'm not sure if the trailer only has the one flavour, since it's smaller than the van, or if that just happened to be all they had available at the particular time I visited) without any toppings.

For $3.50 is was the best damn waffle I have ever tasted. It was sweet and slightly sugary, crispy on the outside and slightly spongy on the inside. Buttery, sweet, and delicious! I'll have to try some of the various toppings next time (it costs an extra dollar to add toppings).

Even though the waffle is a good size, it's not really a full meal. It's more of a snack. So if you're looking for a large lunch, Eva Sweet isn't quite enough. But if you grab a Fat Franks hotdog and then have an Eva Sweet Waffle for dessert, well, I think that just may be the best street-food combination that Edmonton has to offer.

So I tried another waffle at the farmer's market this weekend, and I finally get it!
The waffles were made fresh - I had a maple - and it was warm and soft on the inside and crisp with caramelized bits of sugar on the outside.
I had to steel myself from going back for another one.

Tried Eva Sweet today for the first time at the St. Albert Outdoor Farmer's Market. $4.50 for a vanilla waffle with whipped cream and strawberry sauce. There were three adults in my group and unfortunately none of were impressed. We couldn't taste the "vanilla" in the waffle and the strawberry sauce tasted like an overprocessed syrup.

Our first experience did not leave us wanting more... Maybe it was just an off day?

Given everyone's rave reviews... Perhaps we should try them again?

Previously a 5-star place for me as they ued to have 3 types: vanilla, maple and my fav cinnamon; now going to only vanilla as they said having options became too difficult to manage. After price increase and downgrade in options, I have to update my rating accordingly.

After a lot of mention on twitter, I decided to track down the waffles van on lunch break today - you can find it on weekdays in front of the WCB building between 7 AM -2 PM. While waiting for the waffles, I asked where else they were planning to have the cart this summer and there are plans to have the cart at the City Centre Farmer's starting June 19th.

I ran back to work with two irresistibly delicious smelling waffles - cinnamon and maple both topped with whipped cream and blueberry and raspberry sauce. I was stopped along the way by a lady curious about where I had found waffles downtown.

Taste was amazing and they're something out of the ordinary - worth the effort to track down! Can't wait for this to become a staple dessert treat at the summer festivals and farmers markets..

The waffle truck approaches 'urban legend' status at times. Where is it? Where will it be today? I finally found it at the 104 St block party and, having heard so much about them, couldn't wait to dig in. We ordered a waffle with strawberry and blueberry toppings, and one with caramel and chocolate. The fruit one was pretty good, but I found the fruit flavours were drowned out by the whipped cream. The choc-caramel one, on the other hand, was off the charts good. The waffle underneath was perfectly crispy and sweet, and would have been nice one its own. I noticed that ice cream was available as a topping, but it looked rather messy. I knew I was missing out before I tried Eva Sweet. Now I know what I was missing.

I've tried Eva Sweet vanilla waffles twice and both times times it was a good dessert.  The first time they had fresh strawberries and blueberries to add to the whipped cream.  The waffle was crisp and fruit was a good combo.  The second time they didn't have fresh fruit but strawberry sauce instead.  It was not as tasty as the first time and I felt the sauce took away from the taste of the waffle, and there was a bit too much whipped cream.  It's not something I would eat often but it does satisfy my sweet tooth and I find it filling for $4.75.

The best waffles I've had this side of the Atlantic. Unlike your standard waffle, these are sweeter and crispier and are delicious on their own.

Definitely worth tracking them down on their website or on Twitter.

I LOVE THESE WAFFLES SO MUCH!  Really, they were good.  As good as Wafels and Dinges in New York? No, but still fantastic.  My waffle came all warm and covered in whipped cream and it was delightful.  I like whipped cream with my liege waffles, but don't get much more because they are so good on their own.  They are sweet, but that's because liege waffles are made with pearl sugar which is little balls of sugar.  Of course they're sweet!  The reason I love them so.  They don't do a good job of updating their location on twitter though so it's probably better to ask where they'll be.

Like Allan, I also heard about Eva's Sweet Waffles on Twitter. I went to City Centre Market to try one and was blown away. For a mere three dollars, you get a reasonably large liege waffle in either vanilla, cinnamon, or maple. I opted for maple. The sweetness was mixed with a thick, buttery flavour and texture. It did not need any toppings or syrup to enhance the flavour. However, if you want an even richer treat, for another dollar or so you can have fruit and whipped topping added to your waffle. This is a decadent treat!
