This place makes everything from pizza and salads to sandwiches and pasta dishes.  They have a ton of items and everything is decent, but nothing incredible.  Not a place you'd really ever recommend with so many better choices in the area but if you're hungry and in a hurry Europan will do the job for you.

Food is ehhh. Service seriously blows!

I went in looking for a quick lunch and waited and waited. Dudes needed to be reminded 3x's about my "chicken panini." I had paid for it after I ordered and just waited. Even the cashier was like "wtf?"

My panini was nasty. The chips it came with tasted stale. The bread was soggy and chicken was cheaply put on it.

It sucks. Would I be back? Ahh...hell no.

It was a busy NYC sandwich place during lunch hour, so I wasn't expecting great service, and I didn't get it. They weren't rude to me, just slow and unhelpful and they acted like they could not have cared less. The calzone looked really good on the outside (see photo), I never saw a calzone with this kind of light flakey crust, I figured maybe it was a NY or Greek thing? I was looking forward to trying it, but it was dissapointed. The filling was nothing one solid glob of stringy cheese. The first bite was OK, but who wants to eat a big glob of cheese? The bathroom was disgusting. Stupid for coming here, Yelp reviews were poor, but it was close to the hotel and we were tight for time.

Three words:  MAJOR FOOD POISONING!!!  Avoid this place AT ALL COSTS!  I considered writing a funny account of my experience here, but realy there was nothing funny about it.  I walked in after midnight on February 1, 2012 and ordered 2 slices of pizza (one plain; 1 white) and a drink.  Got in my car, opened the box and it looked like 2-day old pizza ... totally dry and hard as cardboard.  I forced down a few bites before throwing it away.

Long story short, I ended up hospitalized and missed 4 days of work because these stupid motherFers must have a policy of NEVER throwing out food, no matter how old or rotten it has become.  I am a very fit, 200 lb man, and if it hospitalized me, it could very well KILL a child, so I hope no kids ate food from this utter s*thole on that same night.

I may very well sue them, just to teach them a lesson that you can cannot put someone's life at risk, to save $1 from not throwing away spoiled food.

    DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!!!!

EEK!  AYIA!!  Now, I've traveled to Paris, France though the French are extreme unpleasant to Americans but not unfathomably nasty when serving patrons at their restaurants and/or cafes.  I've requested if there were any bagels or muffin prior to attending a open-mike poetry, music, spoken word event on a Friday night nearby as I was near passing out on a empty stomach.  "We only serve that in the morning!! It's not morning now understand?!"

Understand Europan Cafe, customers will make your business boom or send you to the apocalyptic doom!

My review is based off of my experience purchasing baked goods/pastries*

I've read the reviews and I have not experienced any issue with the counter staff.  They have always seemed very busy, but they smile and quickly take care of my order.

My favorite thing about this place?  Mandelhoernchen**!!!  It's a treat I grew up with in Germany and have missed terribly until I found them here.  Imagine a thick dough made with almond paste, rolled in sliced almonds, baked, then the ends dipped in dark chocolate.  Oh yeah.  Feelin' myself getting fatter!

EuroPan does the job when it comes to the Bakery, so 3 stars.

    Uggh...bad...ugh...bad.

So I was staying at the Hudson Hotel on business and after one late night of partying, on my way back to my room, I got the drunken munchies.  Being so close to the Hudson, I thought to grab a quick slice to soak up the liquor, so I stumbled into Europan, which is next door to the Hudson.

Bad choice.  Yes, the service was not with a smile but I didn't care at that point.  I got 2 slices, one with pepperoni and another with mushrooms.  Really, why was it so bad?  It was just doughy and bland...I mean, even boozed up, I could barely get through half of each slice.

It's weird -- the spot always seems to have people in there but I don't know what/why people are there; maybe for convenience?  Don't do it....food is bad there.  Did I say it was bad??

Can't say much about the food... BECAUSE I DIDN'T END UP GETTING ANY.  I asked the little man behind the counter to toss my salad and specifically asked for the red wine vinigarette on the side but since he was so busy doing a half-assed job with everyone else's food, he failed to listen to me and put the dressing in with the salad.  I stopped him right there and told him I asked for the dressing on the side not once, but twice.  He said, "So do you want this or what?"

Really?  Are you this much of an idiot?

    NO!

I asked for a new one and he refused.   That's when I walked out the door without another word.

I refuse to take poor service from people who are getting paid off MY payments for lunch.

Everyone, go elsewhere.  This place has crappy service.

    I suppose I relapsed.

    I thought I was off 4am pizza.

    I thought wrong.

It's funny because ever since I discovered that I can order more than one slice of pizza, I actually end up ordering one slice and then some other breaded concoction, i.e. a calzone.  And every single time I order this "alternative" to pizza, I am always disappointed.

This calzone was particularly unappetizing.  Almost inedible.  But of course being the inebriated and might I ad, classy young lady that I am, I ate half of it before reaching this epiphany.

This place buzzed with the cacophonous drunken conversations of drunkards probably coming from un-swanky Empire Hotel Rooftop Bar. The un-entertaining evening ending at 430am left me so incredibly exhausted.  I am becoming such a granny.

I straight up fell asleep at this place.  That's how (not) exciting it was.  So +1 star for having comfy enough chairs and tables for me to pass out on top of.  I seriously took a 15 minute nap.

The cheese pizza was by far the best option.  French fries not so tasty.  My calzone not tasty at all.

But I did get a free cup of ice water.  So generous.

I would much prefer Munchies.  No more partying uptown.  Will stay on LES from now on.  Munchies will be more of a realistic option.

This place has shotty service. The girl behind the counter tried to convince me that some pastry was the same as the cinnamon raisin roll I wanted claiming, "It has cinnamon..." She ended up doing her job and making the 5 step trek to the other side of the counter to get me the pastry I ordered.

No soy milk so no coffee for me :[ Got black tea instead.

Walked in here today after passing by it so many times on my way to class. I decided to finally give it a chance today, despite the low ratings that it has been getting. I walked in with bagels on my mind..[at 3:00pm.. I know, late for bagels].

But to my surprise they serve pizza. It was unexpected. This was something I missed in the previous reviews, now that I looked at them carefully. I ordered two slices, which were $2.50 each. I sat down at a table that was not cleaned off yet [had an empty bottle with stacked napkins left on it. I just pushed them aside and refused to moved them when I was leaving. I like the the pizza here. It was definitely better than what I expected. I expected it to be cold, old and and flavored nasty, but it was the opposite of all of those [surprisingly]. Hot and the right amount of cheese complementing the amount of dough.

I didn't try any of the other stuff from here.. but I hope to in the future. I see from previous reviews that their "goodies"/baked stuff are old. I can't really say I looked at them carefully, because I wasn't eager or interested in buying "goodies" at that time, so I'm not sure if they are actually old. Still the pizza was nice - dare I say as good as the one at The Bread Factory Cafe a few block away that I tried.

EXTRA: They have a TV....[on mute]. I wonder if that muting saves them on their electricity bill...? [a real head-scratcher] Maybe I should ask them.

If you want to pay a great price for breakfast then this is the place. Good pancakes, sunny side up eggs and a fresh croissants quick n easy. For both of us with juice n coffee we would have paid the same price for 1 breakfast meal at the hudson where we stayed.  I would go back for sure. It loses a star for a dirty bathroom

Trying to find a decent coffee shop between my new digs and work has become a difficult task.  There's really slim pickings between 53rd and 59th street.  Today, I tried Europan.  First, they are incredibly overpriced.  An iced coffee and a bagel should not be almost $6.  Second, there was so much ice in my coffee that I barely received any coffee.  Third, my bagel was burnt.

The place is dingy and gross.  It looks like all of the food has been setting out forever.  The spreads had crusty films as a top layer.

Needless to say, I knew it was a big mistake walking in here, however it would be a huge mistake to ever return.

As Andre L. posts - yes you are right I didnt know any better.

I was staying at the Hudson, right next door, and I was starving.
Upon my delight I saw this place when I left the hotel's front door, and thought to myself, "oh boy! something yummy might be in there!"

That all went away when I walked in and looked at there displayed baked goods. I went the safe route, bagel with cream cheese, not toasted.  Bagel was good and fresh.

If you want quick, tasty delivery this is the place to order from. I order from this deli consistently and the food is always quick and tasty. I have had various sandwiches, quiche, salads and desserts. I have never been disappointed. I never really go in this place so I can't speak to the service but the delivery is always super fast and the food is good.

Came here late one night hoping to satisfy my craving for baked goods. But I was thoroughly disappointed. They have a huge variety but i looks like its been sitting there for days and will sit there for days if not sold. I like bakeries that make just enough or a little more than enough so they're not selling stale cookies for full price. This place is also really expensive for where they are and what they sell. Service was okay, not fantastic but not terrible. I just wish I didn't come. Total waste of effort.

I have to say, I really don't know what to think of this place. First of all, there really isn't anything around the area so I find myself eating lunch from here every few weeks.

That said, here's the good: they have a wide variety of sandwich options, pizza, salads, and various (miscellaneous?) food (cupcakes, etc.). Any type of sandwich you want, they can probably make. Also, they make breakfast at any time of the day. I have gone in at 3 pm and walked out with a generous portion of chocolate chip pancakes (made to order), bacon, and eggs sunny-side-up. Delicious. The decor is also nice. Floor-to-ceiling windows facing the street, with ample sitting room.

The bad: the prices will most definitely put a hole in your wallet. That isn't to say that the food isn't worth it, but that's also if you imagine that the pepperoni on your pizza is made from God's own pig farm.

The ugly: I definitely walked in there one day and smelled human fecal matter emanating from the bathroom and into the general eating area. I don't know about you, but I firmly believe that the restrooms of an establishment reflect on the general practices of the place.

There's the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Chocolate chip cookie thoughts: very bread-y which means they used a lot of flour.  But I like chocolate chip cookies, i'm really not hard to please in that arena so i liked it. But If you want better bakery items go to Bread Factory.

Stopped in to pick up a quick dinner to go. I got a create your own salad with ranch dressing. Very fresh ingredients and a good size. My boyfriend got the Siciliano Panini and really enjoyed it. I think his favorite part was the fact that it came with chips and a pickle, lol! The workers behind the counter were speedy and friendly.

People are very rude at the Columbus Circle location.  I went two separate times (I like to give a place two chances before judging) and both times I was shaking my head as leaving.  The place is disorganized and the Hispanic men making bagels and other breakfast items are very rude.  The middle eastern/Indian woman who checked me out at the register was pleasant, but not enough to make up for the other rude staff.  The food was way too expensive compared to many other deli style places in NY.  the coffee tasted old (This was at 9:45 am !) I was very unhappy with the poor customer skills the staff at this location had and although the desserts look appetizing none of my party enjoyed the food (or the prices).  How do you mess up bagels with cream cheese or eggs and coffee???
