I remember the first time I heard about Eugene's a good 9 years ago. I was a Victoria newbie and had won a $10 gift card through my work. The way people raved about them, I was concerned they were a pricey, classy joint. Little did I know my $10 would cover me and then some.
And my, was I in for a treat!
For the same price one would be pay for crappy mall food, you get a perfect souvlaki. A soft and fresh souvlaki to be specific filled with fresh veggies, lamb or chicken and extra tzaziki. They are so very satisfying and I always have to accompany mine with a chocolate milk. It just seems to elevate the experience.
I couldn't tell you how many times I've eaten at Eugene's and they are always consistent. I just wish they still had their Broad St location. Oak Bay it is... -

It's just great Greek food. The Mezze plate, with meatballs, grape leaves, and spectacular Tzatziki sauce is a great choice, and coupled with a gyro easily feeds us 2 and our 2 little kids. The restaurant in Oak Bay is nicely kept up and welcoming. It is some of the best Greek food I've had anywhere, and at a great price.
The only downside to the place is just how slow the food prep is. Our first time there three people were just waiting in line to order for 10 minutes; one just gave up and left. Our next time I dialed an order in at 5:15 and was given a 6:05 ETA. I got there right on time but the food was still another 15 minutes in coming. Maybe the trick is to use Dine-In so the waiting is someone else's problem!
