I love this place.
Be prepared to wait a while for your food, and get ready for a new flavour experience.
When I arrived they were making homemade bread with flax seeds in the back. It was probably the best bread I've tasted.
I had the breakfast crepe with nettles. mmmm. it was well worth the wait! And there was even enough for me to take it home and have more for dinner.
I even tried one of their homemade nanaimo bars which blew my mind. I could have had the whole pan.
Homemade Lemonade YUM.
Everything tastes like it is made with love. I will definatley be back! -

I'd been away on business all week. Had my fill of corporate this and that, processed crappy food, airplanes, line ups and the general nastiness that can be modern life.
Then, I saw this little place with the weirdest garden out back plunked down amidst the asphalt, car repair shops, breweries, pubs, and small wood lot just off Marine Drive in North Van. This little oasis from the desert of corporate, processed and nasty.
I was served an organic breakfast, bought home-made kombucha, organic earl grey tea, and home-made berry juice. All in a setting that transported me to some place that felt like the back roads of Montana or the Kootenays.
I love it. I'll be back. -

was looking forward to lunch here as i like the premise and philosophy of the Ethical Kitchen: pasture to plate, etc.
it's a small deli with a few large tables that you share with other patrons but without feeling cramped. i ordered the Steak Sandwich and my mom had the Fancy Burger (burger stuffed with brie).
i dunno if they were short-staffed (2 ladies working behind the counter when we went) but the service was very slow. even the fellow beside us, who was there before us, got his food after us.
sandwich and burger were tasty but nothing out of this world. both were hard to eat; steak was thick and came right out of the sandwich when i bit it & my mom's burger totally fell apart. both were served in a baguette which was just too hard, not in a stale way, but just harder than a traditional bun. she couldn't finish her meal so asked for a doggie bag. options were a paper bag or a container for a $1 deposit. considering the mess her burger had become, the paper bag wasn't really appropriate. however, neither the food nor service were good enough to merit a return visit so didn't want the returnable container either. she'll be pouring her leftovers out of paper bags for dinner i guess. -

Had a most sublime sandwich here yesterday; a lamb sausage nestled inside flatbread with surprising vegetables like carrots and turnip slices. Sounds weird, but the flavours were fabulous, lightly spiced with a bit of pickle tang.
This family business features natural, pasture-raised Pasture-to-Plate meats from their own ranch in BC. Just off the restaurant's parking lot is a wacky garden with raised beds full of vegetables.
I really appreciated the little touches like real hand towels in the bathroom, cloth napkins, and pretty ceramic plates. But when it comes down to it, I'm all about the food, and I'll be craving another of those perfect sandwiches soon. Thumbs up for eating ethically!
