So based on a recommendation from an e-pal here on Yelp, I decided to check out this place..
To be honest, I NEVER would have known it existed because it's inside of the Health Food store as if it were some sort of cool place that you have to know about to know about...
Wellp, luckily, it seems that word of mouth (and of course word of Yelp) has kept Esther's Place pumping for years and years because I have been 4 times now and am always surrounded by happy patrons of all ages and shapes, ha.
The food is great here. The Esther's Special is remarkable and they have my favorite hot sauce, Gringo Bandito, which always makes me smile to see on a restaurants tables... but the real selling factor here is Esther herself.
She is so full of energy and positivity that you can't leave this place without feeling like your in 4th grade and your best friend's sister just gave you a kiss on the cheek.
Next time you're mailing a package.. take an extra 20 minutes and go get fed. -

Yep! Everyone was right...Esther is as friendly as Yelpers make her out to be! Who would have though that right down the street from my house I could get a tasty home-style sandwich, complete with the friendliest service one could imagine. I sure as heck never knew. This is mainly because Esther's sandwich bar is located in a health store with no indication that there is an awesome little gem inside.
Once you walk inside the store, you immediately see the lunch counter. Better come on an off time, because your hard pressed to find a seat. But worry not, Esther will find a way to accommodate you. She's one amazing chick - dolled up with a form fitting dress and pumps, I cannot imagine how she has time to remember EVERY customer, assemble food, take orders, ring up orders, answer the phones, AND look good too. This is a sight to see, ladies and gentlemen.
Charming facade aside, Esther and her small team make a delicious lunch. Dehydrated and hungry, my friend and I quickly decided on water and the sandwich/soup combo. The soup of the day with split pea, and it was served up quickly, along with the two waters. Esther is sure on top of her game. The split pea soup was delish - nice and flavorful, and I gobbled it up quickly. Man it sure hit the spot. For my sandwich, I ordered the tuna. I can't remember what my friend ordered, but I do remember how good my simply sammy was. The tuna salad was gloppy and filled with mayo, and I appreciated this. Some tuna salads have so much mayo that you can't taste anything else - this was not the case at Esther's Place. It was satisfying, flavorful, and I enjoyed the sprouts.
Within about 20 minutes, my friend and I enjoyed a nice conversation, good food, AND it wasn't bad for us. I call that a winner. -

I had the Esther's Combo and I am now a fan.
I'm taking one star off because they only take cash and since I am in town for business, it will be extra work for me to expense my lunches here. Plus, they did not give me a receipt (I guess I could have asked).
I don't think I met Esther behind the counter. People were saying bye to someone named Grace behind the counter. She is very nice and personable but busy. There are lots of regulars. People walks in the door and yells out their order, "The usual with small soup today...".
I will definitely try the other items on the menu, but the combo is pretty good. :-) -

Look for the big "HEALTH FOOD" sign, between the Post Office and Pizza Hut! In the front door and the sandwich counter is on your left. I am hooked on the avocado sandwich. I get mine with soup. Esther makes it best! Try it with sesame seeds for extra flavor and crunchiness. The health food store has a lot of great products as well!

Yeah, I never would have thought this place had such amazing smoothies!
I'm not a big fan of Jamba and not really a big fan of smoothies overall but these just taste better- they taste fresher.
Esther is a good host. It takes things a little longer at lunch time when the bar was surprisingly crowded but she keeps things hopping along. Pricey but to me no more so than the other juice places. I haven't tried any of the food yet but the drinks alone are worth the stop in. -

I finally got to eat here, I have had it bookmarked for a while. My boyfriend and I are trying to get healthier and we are both always on the go so finding this was great! It's close to hour house and for $9 you can get a delicious sandwich, soup and smoothie combo. Can't beat that. All frsh and healthy and Esther really is very kind and inviting. I will be back on many more occassions.

I used to work down the street from here and it was one of the favorites at the office. I'm not a big sandwich person when going out to eat, because I always figure I can pretty much make my own at home for way cheaper. But the whole deal of sandwich + soup or salad + smoothie is the perfect combination for a healthy feeling and satisfying lunch. I always got the chicken salad sandwich. For my side, it would depend what the soup of the day was if not the salad was always okay because of their mustard dressing, which I always got anyways to pair with my sandwich. For the smoothie it was always banana royal or peanut butter if I wanted something sweet. Love and miss this place!

After hearing good things from co-workers and Yelp, we decided to hit this spot for a quick lunch, and so glad we did.
Simple menu, and I'd recommend sticking with what the regulars asked for over and over: Esther's Special or the Light and Healthy. We must have heard 10 orders of those come through during the 30 minutes we sat there.
Esther's special was amazing - delicious Asian chicken and ah-mazing rice drizzled with the perfect amount of sauce. I could have licked the plate, had I not been sharing it with a friend.
I'd stay away from the Avocado sandwich - not bad, just simple and there's just so many better, more flavorful options.
Best part though, is Esther. SO friendly, and she literally remembers everyone who comes in there, and what they each order. Highly recommend this place! -

I like Esther's for the Shakes, convenience and of course Esther.
The Shakes are good and they will make any combination that you want.
The sandwiches are good, I usually get an Avocado Sandwich, but as somebody else mentioned, you could make the sandwiches at home no problem. The avocados are always good, I am not sure how she does it, she must have a very good supplier. The Esther Special, is very good and that I haven't figured out how to make it at home and taste as good as it does at Esther's.
Esther is great, very positive, she is full of energy, and remembers people even if they have only been there a few times. The 3rd time I went there I was surprised when she asked me why my little girl was not with me -

Esther actually remembered me after 2+ years of not visiting her place. That's a serious testament to the food she makes and the products in her shop. Not only that, she still hadn't aged and is still perpetually living at 30 years old.
Sandwiches are still delicious. Salad with honey-mustard dressing.
*Super green shake is one of the best shakes*

Fabulous. This is my new fav place to go when Im in the area. Esther is AMAZING. Makes everyone feel welcome & part of the family. Lots of regulars. Her food is all organic and fresh. She is happy to make a special order if you need to avoid something in your diet. It is a very small place, but I have never had to wait. The food is so good, I always forget that it is healthy! :)

So I was expecting to me Wowed by this place but it was far from it. From the reviews I was expecting great sandwiches, at this point I would of settled for OK sandwiches.
Turkey Breast Sandwich- Soft bread, fresh veggies, meat was overly processed. For healthy food the turkey didn't taste fresh or real, a little on the soft side, I would of preferred boar's head turkey over this any day. I think it came from a can...
Chicken Salad Sandwich- not that great, it was very mushy since it was ground chicken instead of chucks. The flavor was decent but after a few bites the mushiness of it gets to you.
Not sure how this place got a 4.5 star rating. -

Oh, Esther. You make me want to wake up in the morning and run to the beach and stop by your Place on the way back. Sadly I am too out of shape and you are too far, so I'll just drive.
The sandwiches and shakes are amazing. The half sandwich, soup or salad and shake for $7.95 is the perfect lunch. I like the grilled chicken a lot, as well as the soy turkey with avocado. The egg and chicken salads are delicious as well, and are a lot healthier than others that often have a ton of mayonnaise. I highly recommend the Berry Fruity Cooler shake, and the 14K shake too. It sounds a little weird but tastes great!
Herbivores unite! All the soups are vegetarian, there's four meatless sandwiches to choose from (garden burger, soy turkey, veggie delight, avocado), and shakes can be made with soy milk.
It's too bad I work a bit too far away to come here for lunch, but if I could, I'd probably stop by every day!Listed in: Veggin' Out

I finally ate at Esther's Place today. My bf and I had to go to the post office for our passports during our lunch break. Esther's is two doors down, so I decided to phone in an order ahead of time for ourselves AND my office.
End result??? I LOVE IT and so did my bf and co-workers. I think they could do a better job outside with the signs to advertise their food because it definitely deserves it. When you initially walk in it looks like a nutrition store. Then over to the left there is a food counter/bar with a wide array of healthy entrees. The woman (maybe Esther?) is so sweet and spunky. She makes you feel welcomed.
The only reason why I've giving it 4 stars rather than 5 is because of their hours. I would like to see it open later in the day and weekend. Additionally they ONLY ACCEPT CASH. However, conveniently in the Post Office is an ATM machine.
We ordered the egg salad, turkey, chicken breast, and garden burger sandwiches plus Esther's special.
***One thing to note:::: The shakes are made with fat free frozen yogurt, so it has a tangy taste. My bf got the peanut butter one and it kind of tastes like PB&J. I got the Banana Royal and I definitely think the fruity shakes are better. :)
The sandwiches are on soft wheat bread and one of the plus factors is they have SPROUTS!!! Yay for sprouts!!!!! It's so rare to find sandwiches with this yummy vegetable, so I was excited.
Everyone in my office wishes we were close to Esther's Place, but I told them I'd gladly make another run when all craved it. A+++ for healthiness, freshness, and friendliness! -

What a great find.
Fellow Yelper Angela T. took me to Esther's last month and I've been thinking about it ever since. I would go here everyday if I lived closer! Definitely try the smoothies - they are a great addition to her lunch meals.
Don't think I've ever had such healthy food that tasted soo good...plus you can shop here for all your nutritional needs (She has every supplement/herb there is).
I was thinking Esther's Place needs to open another location but it would miss the # 1 component.....Esther! She's super friendly and remembers everybody. -

It's good, but not incredible or anything. I have eaten here about 30 times so it can't be terrible, but listen to me, it is nothing you couldn't make at home very easily. Everything is very plain and unexceptional, but good because they don't try very hard. Esther is also pretty entertaining, she really makes a difference. So damn happy all the time...
Anyway, it's really not as organic or healthy as some people on here lead you to believe. Her turkey is Jennie-O, could be worse I suppose, the soy turkey is pretty good, the smoothies are all really good, I always have the 14k or the power booster. I tried the chicken salad once, egh... The soups are good I guess but again nothing special, although Tuesdays soup is the best, the barley one.
The one thing I can really say about this place, is they take only cash, and never, I mean never have charged me correctly, they always overcharge you a few dimes or something, sometimes it's kind of funny. It's part of the character of the place. It's certainly not malicious, she just always think everyone orders avocado, or something, it's pretty funny actually. -

Esther's Health Food is delicious and she's seriously an angel. The chicken salad sandwich is my favorite and the combo comes with soup/salad/fruit and a shake!!! She knows everyones name by the second time you go in. It's cash only which is the only bad thing, but her sweet personality makes it all better!!!!

First time there. Very interesting place, since it is located inside a health store. Like a diamond in the rough. I ordered Esthers Special and it is really delicious. I feel since I work around the corner and just found this little gem that I may go broke there! It was really busy and Esther was so nice and full of energy! This may be my favorite healthy lunch spot. The Esther Special is sooo tasty it is unreal. The place is located in a little health shop, cash only. They have great smoothies, sandwiches and salads. Esther is amazing also. She is super kind, funny and just an overall great personality. I used to always get a sandwich to blow my mind away, until I tried the Esther Special. Now I can't go back!!! Wow, I am so glad I found this place. I just started working in HB and wanted a good sandwich, and I found it! I read the reviews prior to mine and opted for the sandiwch, soup and shake combo because it seemed to be what everyone was raving about. The soup of the day was split pea which I typically would never order or try. However, I decided to just ask Esther and give it a whirl. It was delicious! It wasn't thick, had a tun of vegetables and so much flavor. I can't wait to get it again.
Esther recommended the Chicken salad sandwich, and I loved it. The bread was yummy, the chicken salad had just the right amount of non-fat mayonnaise and the avocado and sprouts made it perfection.
In addition, I also got the very berry smoothie with this special. While it was delicious it was a little too much. I could have done with out it, but very yummy!
Esther is just as everyone had said. Very friendly, personable and genuine. Everyone in there seemed to know her and he seemed to know what everyone wanted to order.
I really enjoyed my experience here and cannot wait to go back. -

I love Esther's Place! If you haven't tried the Esther's Combo please do it is probably the best thing on the menu even if it is one of the most expensive things on there it's totally worth it! Esther is one of the nicest and sweetest ladies I have ever met and her staff rocks! Her hospitality tops any lunch spot I have ever been to! Love you Esther!

OK this place was amazing! My buddy found it on Yelp when we were staying with a friend a two-minute drive away. After our first visit we ate here every chance we got. We always ordered the combination sandwich, shake, and salad. The sandwich was great, especially with the freshly cut avocado. The salad was tasty and I LOVED her shakes.
You can't go wrong here, everything tastes great, the price is right, and Esther is a character. I can't wait to stop by here next time I'm in Huntington Beach.Listed in: Top Restaurants

Its official, Esther's gets 5 stars from me. I have found a replacement for my tuna sandwich fix; in addition, the energy plus shake is a meal in itself.
The 5th star is not only for Esther's amazingly delicious sandwiches and smoothies but also for the health vitamin shoppe products. I always thought some of the things were a bit odd until I learned that some people can not eat eggs, gluten etc....well folks, I may be one of those people so Esther's is first on my go to for all my G-free wheat & barley substitutes.

OK, I used to go to this place twenty years ago but alas at that time there was no Esther. Roomie went there and told me about the amazingness that is Esther's Place. Come on, how good can chicken salad, brown rice and a salad be???
Well, on the first bite I was hit so hard in the taste buds that I almost tumbled off of my high stool at the counter. WTF . . . Esther has taken some rather forceful ingredients and balanced then in amazing ways. The rice, lettuce and chicken are obviously quality but what she does with lemon, soy, ginger and sesame oil is a religious experience . . . well at least for me, a cookaholic. I am really picky about my food. I do admit to going through periods of crispy tacos at Del Taco but usually I am a tough person to wow with food. Esther does it with her flavor profiles. OUTSTANDING . . . NOOOOOO . . . . OUT. . . FUCKING . . . STANDING. That is the scale of it. Simple food . . . of quality . . . spot on prepared.
I have nothing more to say with the exception that Esther provoked me in my kitchen . . . it is that good.
How does she do that??? Oh and thanks for the Korean market tip Esther . . . I have been in the kitchen for a few hours this morning trying to better myself as I am not worthy of what you have placed in front of me . . . I have to try the rest of your menu. -

Oh Esther....where have you been all my life? Right under my nose, apparently.....stupid, stupid, stupid me for not stalking you sooner. Cuz I'm stalking you now, for sure.
I almost realized your amazingness about a year ago. Buddy and I came in to eat and every seat was taken and we only had a few minutes. So, we left. I kick myself now. Stupid, stupid, stupid me.
I finally sat down with my Buddy and ordered your Heavenly Esther's Combo. Amazing salad, hearty brown rice with chick peas and chicken salad that is made by Angels, I'm sure. No heavy mayo here people. I HATE mayo and therefore, chicken salad is usually No Bueno for me.....I could snort lines of this salad, I shit you not.
After my first visit, I called up to place a phone order. Esther knew exactly who I was...Esther, in addition to being beautiful, charming, energetic, adorable and personal beyond all belief is psychic too. I'm convinced of it.
The whole sandwich combo (chicken salad for me, of course) comes with a heavenly sandwich on wheat bread, lettuce, tomato, sprouts and filling of your choice on fresh, soft wheat bread, a cup of the soup of the day (barley, split pea....I heart you) and a health shake. I'm obsessed with the Energy Plus (disregard the green color. If I can, you can) but the Berry is also good.
Prices are AMAZING for the flavor packed into everything Esther serves and for the serving sizes. Yes, as other Yelpers have mentioned, it is cash only. Go next store to the Post Office ATM if necessary.
And don't make the mistake I did the first time. Even if the place is packed, stay and place your order. Esther is also a Multitasking Master...I've never seen anyone crank out food, take orders, answer the phones, run the register and carry on 12 conversations like her and still be the genuine charmer she is. Esther, you may need to get a restraining order against me, you are my new obsession. If only you were a man....I'd make you love me..... -

Just worked out, and I was in dire need of some health food. Whipped out my phone, and on my way to Esther's I was. I was slightly confused and went up and down Warner trying to find a store called "Esther's"-- learn from my mistake, and just head towards the store that says "Health Food."
Luckily we came during her off time, so there was no wait. We sat on down and each ordered the sandwich/salad/shake combo. I got the chicken veggie sandwich, and he got the veggie burger. Both were just what the doctor ordered (aka healthy and good tasting), but I'm not going to lie and say she puts magical fairy dust on this stuff and makes it taste just as good as your favorite temptation (double doubles, french fries, etc). I'm sorry but no, you still wish you could have that stuff. Her sandwich was good, just not something to rave about... at least in my honorable opinion.
However, the shakes are another story ENTIRELY. She recommended the 14k, and, after a few minutes of skepticism (there was nutmeg and cinnamon... threw me off a bit), I decided to get it. GET THE 14K!!!! I'm serious, now THIS is a heavenly frickin' shake. And healthy to top it off! I'm likely to come in continuously just for the shake! -

So for the time being I'm unable to eat anything too solid. Fortunately for me Esther's is just around the corner from my office and offers a various selection of health shakes. My favorite so far is the peanut butter and banana; it makes me feel like I'm slurping something with substance. I'm sure that's due to the rich thick peanut butter. I'm also quite sure it's not all that healthy but I don't care it's been so hot and these braces are such a pain it's like a little lunch time reward.
For anyone who doesn't bring cash and uses the ATM located inside the post office you should know that the ATM charges a $2.50 fee and if you bank with Chase they will charge you an additional $2 fee for using a non Chase ATM. Now tell me that's not bullshit.Listed in: How about YES!!, The Bizzle.

This place is within walking distance from my house, woo hoo! Little odd to be sitting in the middle of a health & nutrition store, but you soon forget as Esther is very welcoming and talkative. She is probably the friendliest person I have ever met!
I enjoy the Tuna sandwich with a berrie smoothie. I also tried the smoothie with Spirulina and that was fantastic! The combo also comes with a small salad, which is okay, but nothing to rave about.
The prices are great and the food is good, but the service is awesome! -

This place is GREAT! From the moment I walked in, Esther was welcoming and talkative. By the end of lunch, I felt like I'd known Esther for years. The counter is inside a health market so we walked right up, sat down at the counter and enjoyed a great meal. Esther gave her recommendations and I have to say she was right on with her picks. I would recommend a shake to compliment your meal too - all of them sounded tasty.
What I had:
Esther's Combo - Soooooo good. I cleaned the plate and only wanted more. Great flavors and healthy! 5 Stars....easily.
Other recommended plates:
Chicken Salad sandwich or salad - My gf had the salad and it was another dish where you just want more. Light and fresh. -

I was told about Esther's Place by a coworker in Huntington Beach a few years ago. It is a hidden vitamin looking store, but they have a lot of organic and healthy options. They have incredible smoothies, salads, sandwiches, etc. Everything is freshly made with live and organic options. After eating food here, I have a lot of positive energy the rest of the day and some of the best workouts!

You will never find Esther's if you are looking for ESTHERS. Look for the "HEALTH FOOD" sign next to the post office ... looks like a vitamin store but it also has Esther's inside.
Esther is a unique lady ... speaking a combination of korean, spanish, and english. She'll go out of her way to make sure you are happy.

Esther is amazing. She could take orders all day long and never have to write a thing down. Couldn't be any nicer. I can't speak for all the food, because I've been addicted to Esther's chicken salad for about 5 years now. But when we sit at the food bar to ear our lunch, I can tell the rest of the menu is just as good by the reactions next to us. She also offers health shakes. Pretty much my desert. Today it was the 14k; carrot juice, pineapple, coconut, cinnamon, some other stuff, and some protein...deeelicious.

Esther's Place is a great little hole in the wall - more specifically, a hole in the middle of a vitamin/herbal supplement store. In this healthy little hole, you will find a friendly, upbeat and attractive woman, Esther, who serves up a tasty and wholesome selection of sandwiches, salads, soups and smoothies.
I usually order the soup, 1/2 sandwich and smoothie combo, which runs about $8. Another thing that I enjoy here is the Esther Plate.
Speaking of ordering... Esther has a mind like a titanium trap - as she prepares the sandwiches/salads for multiple order tickets, she also verbally takes multiple new orders, which somehow, her short-term memory handily handles - must be one of the benefits of eating right! -

I can't believe I have lived in HB my entire life and did not know about this place until last month! I've walked by it a gazillion times and did not know that tucked inside this funky 70s health food store was a hidden gem!
As everyone has mentioned, Esther is super cute and charming with a great sense of style. But more importantly, her food is so healthy and delicious. My favorite is the sandwich, salad and shake combo. I've had the 14k, Peanut Butter, and Fresh Fruit shakes and all are splendid. I usually get the Turkey Avo and a salad with creamy italian with soy bits which are so yummy.
I will likely not go to Jan's as much anymore when I want to get my health on! She is a meanie and her peeps mess up my order EVERY time. It's probably because they are are nervous working around der Fuhrer!
