This place is heaven for people who still practice or appreciate good penmanship. A large selection of pens, paper, notebooks and other stationary items; they carry quality brands like Moleskine and Semikolon.
I wish my handwriting hadn't deteriorated to beyond recognition because of disuse. I need to go to a place like this once in a while to be reminded that handwriting is still a valuable skill in the digital age. -

Moleskine heaven! Not the entire collection here, but this is where I bought my two Japanese Album 5-pocket Moleskines I use for receipts.
Besides that, they have a great brand called Semikolon in a range of lovely colours that is great for anything from albums to scrapbooking to binders.
They also have a lot of great pens, and I always come here to look for stuff that I can't seem to find in Staples or any other smaller stationery store. -

The stationary selection is awesome but the customer service is terrible. Employees did not help me and ended up selling me the wrong pen refill. Employees portrayed a snobby attitude and demonstrated no interest in helping or answering questions.

I wandered up to Yonge & Erskine to check this place out, in my until-then futile quest for a wedding guest book / photo album. Essence du Papier has everything -- scrapbooking supplies and pretty paper, wedding and baby albums, other albums that are more generic but still pretty, a HUGE selection of Paperblanks and Moleskine books, calligraphy and stamping and pens, and of course cards. If you need anything for journaling or invitations or stuff like that, this is a great place.
