Well-made and timeless, every woman should own an Erin Templeton bag. I certainly plan on owning one of these beauties soon! Erin's designs are classic, without any "trendy" metal hardware or grommets. I love how you can change the length of the straps on the bags simply by repositioning the knots. You can dress these bags up or down. You can buy them in new leather or (even better!) recycled leather. I could go on and on about how these bags are superior to virtually every other bag on the market!

The shop itself is a true gem. Located in historic Chinatown, the shop has a down-to-earth vibe and the sales people are wonderful. Wonderful! My friend and I came in the other day, and we ended up chatting and laughing with Erin herself and one of the associates. How cool is it to be able to actually meet the woman who creates your handbag?

The bags ain't cheap, but considering how much other well-made handbags go for, it's well worth the price. Besides, with Erin's timeless designs, any gal would be able to carry these bags for years and years to come. The new leather bags come in various neutral shades, black and a beautiful olive green. For those of us who like to make a statement, the recycled leather bags come in a ton of fun colours; plus, the recycled leather is extra supple and drool-worthy.

The day I buy my Erin Templeton bag will likely be one of the happiest of my life. I know I'm lame, but at least I can admit it, right?

Okay fine. Fine, Erin Templeton. You win. I will buy one of your gorgeous handmade leather bags. I mean, how could I not? Everyone loves you. You make shoes, belts, pouches, sandals - and jewelry too. But it's your bags, your beautiful leather bags, that finally won me over.

Erin Templeton's shop is one of those enigmatic spaces that is both not hard to miss, and very easy to pass by. It's the kind of place I've seen multiple times, but for some reason never thought to actually, physically go in. That is, until very recently. In the ever-charming old Sam Kee building in Chinatown, her little boutique is one of those special places that once you enter, you immediately want to snoop in every nook and peek in every cranny. Not only does she sell the aforementioned most amazing handmade leather goods, but she also has an unreal selection of vintage finds (at very reasonable prices, I might add).

But like I said, it's all in the bag for me. Vintage leather, simple lines, unadorned aesthetic, super-chic, and most of all: affordable. Let's do this, Erin Templeton, you and me. Let's find me the perfect leather bag to add to my collection.

When I went to vote in the last federal election, I just happened to pass by the Erin Templeton boutique on Carrall Street and I remember being pleasantly surprised to see a boutique shop right on the corner in Chinatown. This time around, I decided to make a special visit to Erin's store and I found within, gorgeous leather handmade bags and simple, pretty handmade leather sandals, Templeton's signature pieces. Along with her fab designs, she has in her store, a proper selection of vintage shirts, dresses, pants and footwear for men and women at true vintage prices.  Templeton's designs are international and she sells her wares from all over Canada (and in various other shops in Vancouver) along with the States and Japan.

While I was bowled over by the vintage and leather goods, I struck up a conversation with Templeton about the area which she chose to open up her shop and she quickly launched into a ballad about her love for Chinatown and its inherent quirkiness. She was quick to point out a few of her favourite spots to check out in the area and we talked for nearly half an hour about how Chinatown used to be, what it is now and its future potential (which, by the way, is high and interesting) as well as her want to have a Christmas craft show with a twist: a keg! Count me in Erin!

This was my first and only time buying a purse..

My lady is absolutely hooked on Erin Templeton's bags and purses, so I figured it to be a good gift.. I'm not a purse carrying fella myself (not judging!) but the quality of these bags is top notch : they're made from recycled vintage leather wear - so not only are they nicely distressed but they're totally enviro-friendly and apparently quite rugged and durable.

The proprietor/designer, Erin, is super-nice. She patiently explained the options and different types and applications of bags. I ended up buying a flat-tote bag of vintage leather, which was well received and still garners lots of unsolicited compliments. The bag seemed a little on the pricey side, but it's designer and hand-made so probably worth it.

Aside from recycled leather bags, the store itself is well worth a visit: it's a funky old converted old Chinatown tailorshop, the front of the store sells purses and bags (of course) along with vintage clothes - the back half is the workshop overflowing with boxes of scraps of multi-coloured recycled leather and hides and stuff, with the buzz of electric sewing machines mixing with French pop music.

My only complaint is that Ms. Templeton doesn't make man-bags, cuz I think a smart looking attaché / laptop bag in recycled leather would be dope.

Erin Templeton is one of my favorite stores in Vancouver.
I am hooked! Her bags are as high fashion as it gets and the fact they are hand made make them even more special. She has a keen eye for designer vintage as well. It's always a pleasure going into Erin's store.

Walked by here one sunny day to discover a pretty cool vintage shop in Chinatown. Clothes here are a bit cool, and the sale rack had some purchase worthy items, and with a bit of alteration, they would be lovely pieces.

Nice jewelry, and unique shoes, and also spotted some handmade leather bags. I have my eyes on this lovely purple one. So tempting.

    Love!

Funky vintage threads, shoes, belts, knick knacks and jewelry, with the occasional random antique elegant bit thrown in.

Erin's own in-house handmade leather purses (a few belts and sandals too) are amazingly drool worthy. Dress up, down, sideways, you need one of these bags! Keep an eye out for sample sales and the like, to double your score. (I came away from one such sale with some amazing stuff I couldn't have justified buying otherwise).

A few other local designers' and consignors' wares can be found there too.

Friendly friendly friendly! Go for the conversation and whimsy or to find a new OOAK wardrobe staple. Make sure you wear clean, hole-free underthings though, as the dressing room is communal!
