This EQ3 location is pretty cool! I've been furniture shopping the last little while and finally dropped into here to check out some pieces. The location is right in the heart of the Byward Market. The building is pretty old but has a lot of character with extremely high ceilings, exposed brick and very uneven floors. The stairs creak and are also very uneven but it's very cool feel to the store especially with the way it's laid out.
When I walked into the store I was greeted by the staff with a big smile. They're super nice and helpful.
Looking through the furniture in the store you will notice some pretty neat items but many reminds me a lot Ikea items. The unfortunate thing is some of the quality seems the same with a mark up in price. The lighting from E3 is probably my favourite things from this store.
I didn't end up purchasing anything and my rating is with respect to the EQ3 items itself. The staff is great and the store has a lot of character. -

I not only could spend a lot of time in this place but a lot of money too. In fact the store is so cool that I would love to be able to just buy the space and turn it into lofts.
EQ3 has a pretty sweet location staked out in the Byward Market in a really neat three level store. This location is well setup and attracts a lot of young condo and home owners.
Despite it's prime location I've never found the store to be crowded. The prices are more than your typical furniture store but most of their items I would say are still reasonable. Once in a while I'll see something and ask "Who would pay a couple of thousand dollars for a chair that looks like THAT!?" but overall I'm a fan of their stuff.
The employees are attentive and are staged on each of the three levels. -

We first ordered the GRID plasma unit in ebony colour. It was perfect for our house so one month later we ordered two GRID bookshelves with a few inserts. When we received it we set them up and realized that the colour was lighter than the plasma unit we bought just a few weeks prior. Also the drawers were so rickety that we could barely open them. After having trouble communicating with the store staff we ended up going in person to talk to the manager. She explained that they had been having a hard time with their new manufacturer in China in terms of their quality control. She also mentioned that the company was changing the way they make drawers so that they would be a better quality insert. She suggested ordering two new units, setting them up in store to make sure the colour was right and then delivering them to our home. This took way over the stated 4 to 6 weeks and when we received them, they were missing one of the drawer insert and the shelf inserts were melamine and not wood like the original ones we had in the wrong colour. It took another few weeks to get the drawer insert we were missing.
All-in-all it took 4 months to get this resolved. Ridiculous!!! However, the manager was gracious enough to reimburse our $100 shipping costs and then another $200 for our troubles.
So, would I buy again from EQ3? Probably not because the whole process was such a hassle and a waste of time and I now have no confidence in the quality and consistency of their products. But I have to say thank goodness for Julia the manager who was very polite and accomodating.
