Epicuria is as gourmet as it's name sounds.  As a cook, I could really appreciate the dishes that they have for take-away.  Delicious temptations such as curried chicken salad and fillets of salmon beckoned to me from the display case.

But I was just here for a snack!  Even that was a hard decision to make.  Fat chocolate cookies and date squares looked delicious.  There were little mini cakes and squares.  Workers stayed nearby to answer my questions.

In the end I chose a large pecan-caramel square.  I wasn't disappointed!  When I got home and made some coffee I bit in and discovered that the bottom layer was like a shortbread.  I usually pick chocolate desserts, but this was very rich and tasty.

Not having much in the way of cooking skills I rely on places like Epicuria.  I appreciate their fresh approach to take-away food and love their Tuscan cheese dip.  They have been absent from their MacKay St location after the fire last year and I have found their new location.  Some one mentioned Nelson street but, I could not find them.

Does anyone know what location Epicuria relocated to.  If so please let me know.

    Thank you....Rita

The full name of this establishment is Mackay Street Epicuria. And when I saw the sign for the first time, the name (to be honest) puzzled me. What the heck is an epicuria? I thought it was a manicure/pedicure spa! If you are wondering what epicuria means, it is related to the pursuit of sensual pleasure, in terms of food and comfort. And boy, does this place ever achieve that! They are many kinds of food places in one - a bakery with delicious baked goods (their scones are to DIE for and cheap - I got two for less than $1.50!!!), a supplier of premade gourmet frozen foods ready to be warmed up and enjoyed, and a caterer! It is just the type of place you'd think you'd find in Beechwood. Epicure yourself today!
