I have recently moved to the area and my new building doesn't have a gym. As I was just so used to my routine 1 hour morning cardio workout, it was so hard for me to find a good gym that's close enough for me not to waste anytime and to also feel the rush of the cardio. So I looked up on Yelp to see what's in the area.

EnergyXChange offers a two weeks trial period for only $20. They have a tons of different classes which are not ALL yoga like other studios. So far I've only tried 3 but let me tell you, I'm hooked. The first two classes were more like weight and pilates classes, but the ones that actually push you to your limit. And the third one was a half cardio half weight class that I just loved it so much. Honestly I didn't even wish for a second to have a watch to see how much times left.  Its that good! I mean its not as CRAZY and INTENSE as some cardio classes but still makes you feel good about your workout. The gravity machines are SO great, I wish I could have one at home.

The space is beautiful. They have a cute cafe on site too and a beautiful rooftop patio. And I just found out today that they have a beautiful change room too with a FLAT IRON in it!!! , so even if it wasn't 7 minutes away from my place I could just easily shower and get ready there!

They offer a personal training session for free and have free Sunday classes and staff are super friendly.

Oh and they offer complimentary breakfast for early morning classes which I've promised myself to try it at least once.

While EnergyXChange has an annoying flash site, they've got plenty of interesting classes to make up for it. We tried out the Detox Cocoa Sunday class as an cool, semi-alternative introduction to the gym. Yeah, it's not a yoga studio, but a gym offering some instructional yoga classes.

For some strange reason the 'cocoa sunday' aspect of the description had me thinking it would be a restorative, relaxing class. I was definitely wrong. This is a hatha class, though not hot, it'll leave you slightly sweaty thereafter.

It was totally full of students, though the instructor made her way around the class and provided welcomed adjustments as necessary. The end arrived with everyone getting a piece of chocolate and a soothing modification into our last child's pose.

With the great service, EnergyXChange makes a great addition to the community, as Leslieville could do with some more studios and the class was a fabulous way to end the week.

Although this studio was convenient, the classes were not as all as described. I kept hoping for the delicious hot yoga classes (chocolate! yada yada) as described, but only got cool stretches by candlelight that did nothing to inspire me or raise my heart rate. There was not a large number of classes either. I didn't even bother to use most of my discounted classes.

EnergyXChange! OMG! I think I find my DREAM studio!

It is not even a yoga studio! It is just an all around wellness centre!

Karma Class for FREE every Sunday afternoon!

The space is just glorious!! The practice room big and spacious with a lot of architectural details. The patio, great to hang out on a sunny afternoon!

The change room is equipped with lockers (just make sure you bring a lock or bring your valuables into the practice room where they have little partition for your to store your stuff!), Aveda products in the showers!!

Rental mat is reasonable for $1.50 and they are nice Jade mat! Not some crappy overworked mat that I got from renting at other studios.

The Karma class itself was great! Though it was a free class the instructor was knowledgeable and have positive vibe! The Yin class was oh so delicious! Especially that piece of Leonidas Chocolate was given as a treat at the end of the class!

And what's better than enjoying a cup of tea from David's Tea after a great yoga practice?!

EnergyXChange, you really think of everything!

This must be what it feels like when you workout like a celeb. I purchased a 20 class pass special when they opened and wanted to reserve my review until I had the opportunity to sample a wide range of classes and teachers.

The classes are great, and small. The gravity machines are unique, and provide a great workout. The yoga (although not hot enough for me)  is really good. And infrared heated when its hot. Night Yoga is candle-lit and in the summer they have ROOFTOP yoga. It is lovely looking up and seeing the clouds. The teachers are top quality including the Joga with Jana series, which is good enough for the Argos. (Hey they have to be strong)

I have attended 10 classes or so at this point and every single one of them KICKED MY ASS. Its like having a personal trainer every single time. I thought I was in pretty good shape from all the yoga and spinning I do. This gym makes me wimper like a dog. I am glistening in sweat within 5 min every time. And its close enough to walk home - yeah!

is a really really nice gym. And they have Aveda products. And the other people working out are friendly. No avoiding eye contact, no pretention, no attitude like my other gym. Lots of options for beginners and moms as well.

Cute little patio lounge to hang out. My workout buddy and I have chilled out there without anyone bothering us, and its lovely.

Plus "Oh its ok miss Myers, we already checked you in!" "uh no, did my friend sign me in?" "Nope I saw you!" Would you like some David's Tea? David's Tea comes free with a membership. I like having someone remember my name. Oh, and give me tea.

It is expensive. But if you (like me) have a full time gym membership AND passes for a yoga studio its about the same. If you plan on attending 3x a week its a good value. My only complaint is that there is no individual fitness (ie treadmills) or spinning classes. For the monthly price I would like a more full service gym. That is, really, my only complaint. Maybe they can annex the building next door or something. Jilly's has the room I am sure.

Really, I give this gym a 4.5, but I'm bumping to a five because they deserve it. Get an around-the-gym pass for 14 days for $20 and see for yourself.

I took in the 11:30am yoga class today.  It was pretty good.  The room was not as warm as usual - and I'm totally thankful b/c it's been a few months since I've practiced.  The teacher was good, the class was challenging, and had enough of the stuff everyone is used to, to keep it from being too intimidating.  Definitely a neighbourhood gem!

I love new books. The cracking of the spine...the smell of the fresh pages. This is why I will NEVER get a kodo or whatever those electronic books are.
Walking into EnergyXChange was like getting a new book.
It's fresh, clean and SOOOO beautiful!
It's located in Leslieville (which is so hot right now!) at Queen St East and Broadview, on the second floor. Do not mind the girlie bars around it...they will be replaced soon with hip coffee shops and dog grooming parlors...mark my words!
The owner, Marea is a gem. She is personable and gorgeous and she greeted me at the door with a smile...and it was 6:30am!
They have a Pilates room, they are offering TRX workouts, yoga, personal training, Zumba, kettle bell workouts...you name it...they got it!
I showed up early to do a Joga class (yes...I said Joga...not Yoga) with Jana Webb (http://www.jogawithjan...) which is a jock yoga style of yoga.
I was the only one who showed up...so I got a PRIVATE yoga class...AMAZING!

The facilities are perfect for those who want to do a class before work and shower and head into the office. They have Aveda products for use and for sale. They also have a complete David's Tea line up! Private Yoga, Aveda and David's Tea...my day was off to a GREAT start!

My only suggestion/comment would be that the lockers should be bigger...or maybe that I need to condense how much stuff I schlep to the gym!
Go now...run...to this gym...while the spine is still new and the pages smell fresh!

This lovely space with lovely staff, design & equipment has potential. But it's falling short in significant ways. I couldn't get out of there fast enough. The music  was the typical ear-splitting  annoying generic commercial shlock that is played at fitness chains (even though they have several  satellite stations to choose from) & the temperature (25 plus degrees) was unbearable. Fans are needed. This problem will only get worse with the warm weather. I wouldn't want to be there in the summer. The mirrors in the yoga studio do not reach the ground, so their value is limited. The overhead lights are too bright & blinding for classes in which we are mostly on our backs. Some of the owners' ad hoc  policies seem questionable. Overall, they've got work to do. Till then, I'll go elsewhere.
