I took a Continuing Studies class at Emily Carr and absolutely loved the experience.  It's a great way to spend evenings or weekends if you're looking to learn something new or expand on an interest in the creative field.  With registration, you receive access to their library and 10% off at Opus Art Supplies.

What's great is that you meet so many different people of all ages and backgrounds, bonded by class interest.  Wandering the halls, you see student projects and gallery showings.

The best part is that you're challenging yourself and tapping into parts of yourself that help you see the world in a more colorful way.  I never enjoyed getting homework so much.  I can't wait to take my next class.  I hope you do, too.

This is the premiere art school to attend in Vancouver and it's presence at Granville Island amongst all the creative minds and artistic culture certainly harbour a great learning environment.

Whether it's continuing education classes or a full time program it's been putting out top notch training and it definitely shows.

The student grad shows are always great for both students and the public who get to view some of the amazing talent that attend the school.

I can only speak to to ECIAD as someone who geniuely loves the shows they put on throughout the year. They have huge undergrad and grad shows towards the end of spring, as well as some great ones throughout the year and they're definitely worth checking out.

The art and design, as well as film and animation, coming out of Emily Carr is generally on par with other student work. It has a bit of an edge due to the great facilities and access to materials, as well as the awesome gallery spaces. Even the worst show looks well hung.

What makes ECIAD so worthwhile though is the standouts. Rarely do I go to student art and see someone who really takes a chance and seems to produce something new. It's rare here too but it's far more likely to happen. Granted, for a shot at seeing that you have to see plenty of awful failed experiments but if you want something interesting in student work this is THE place to go in Vancouver.

I love walking in here during the odd day that they have art exhibits in their main area. It makes for a good break from the rain/heat/sun/wind. And a lot of the pieces these students create are really cool and interesting to ponder over with a friend. And A+ for being free.

I have taken Continuing Studies classes here and loved them. Located on Granville Island makes it tough to find parking but it's free for 3 hours and after 7pm. I also frequent this campus to check out the exhibits and grab a bite from the cafeteria sometimes. Many friends have gone to school here and have become successful or not so successful artists.
