This former Embassy West Hotel has turned into Embassy West Senior Living. It's at the same location - right off of the 417 so it's really convenient and easy to find.
My friend and I stayed at the Embassy West during Canada Day, which happened to be nearing its last days as a hotel. They were doing hardcore renovations and we were lucky enough to be given one of the newly renovated rooms. We were definitely impressed! The rooms had dark hardwood floors and cabinetry, a kitchenette with a fridge, microwave, and sink, a walk-in closet, accessible bathroom, couch, TV with basic cable, visually-appealing art on the walls, and one of the comfiest beds I've ever slept in. To be honest, it's much nicer than many apartments in the city, and even though its updated and more contemporary, it's still cozy.
I believe some of the staff is still there, and, of course, there is new medical staff to assist in senior care. They have always been very kind and accommodating, and the management is still the same, so I trust that the quality of service meets or exceeds individual, long-term care needs, just the way it met hotel standards.

OTTAWA -- Embassy West Senior Living, a new major housing development for independent and assisted senior living in Ottawa, Ontario, is opening June 2010. Fully renovated, the new retirement home formerly the landmark Embassy West Hotel sited at 1400 Carling Avenue, will offer its residents the same convenience and prime location off 417, near shopping, churches, and hospitals.
Meet the Manager: Lou N.
As the CEO of Embassy West Senior Living, Lou's mission is to ensure that residents get the most out of each day and that all of their health and wellness needs are met. As CEO, Lou is dedicated to helping residents live as independently as possible, in an environment that nurtures the body, mind and soul through nutritious food, stimulating exercises and ongoing program of social activities.
Lou Nguyen was born and raised in Saigon, Vietnam. After earning a degree in Engineering, Lou came to Canada and started his new career as a finance officer. Prior to Joining Embassy West Senior Living, Lou spent 11 years as the General Manager and Chief Financial Officer at Embassy West Hotel & Conference Centre.
He works closely with the rest of the team to provide the best accommodations, hospitality and health care services to residents, for the best value available.
