I went to watch the Superbowl there, the staff were very friendly it was a great atmosphere and they had very reasonable beer prices.

I didn't have the chance to try the food but the atmosphere is what sold me I would definitely go back

I ended my previous review of Elwoods with "So Elwoods, like the shmuck that I am, I'll probably be back to give you yet another chance in a few weeks."

....You've made a shmuck of me for the last time.

Things were really turning around!  $3 martini's, two very cute girls on staff, 'Buck a shuck' Oysters!  I saw the specials board outside and knew you had changed.  How could I stay mad at you Elwoods?  Your canopy of L.E.D. Christmas lights was comforting; finally, things were as they should be, Elwoods was back on it's game.

I ordered some of those oysters and sipped on my $3 Crantini, so happy that my all time favorite seafood was on special.  I wasn't expecting them to be the highest quality, but I was impressed that they surpassed pub standard.  Good job.  And then I had another one.  Why did I have another one?  Pain radiated down my tooth into my gums and it felt like death.  Accidents happen, I get that, and had there not been a consistent string of accidents with every single visit I've made, I would probably let the large gum-bleed inducing shard of shell that was mixed in with my oyster slide.

Everything else was great though.  Service A+, Atmosphere A, but I just can't forgive having had something razor sharp in my meal.

I went here on a Thursday night and was happily surprised to find that they had a beer special on all night. 10oz beer for 2$. Can't go wrong with that. It obviously wasn't the greatest of beers, but it's by no means bad and once you're 2 or 3 in, it doesn't matter anyway.

I was here with once other person and we both got the veggie burger and both thought it was delicious. I like when a veggie burger doesn't pretend to be a meat burger. You could see the little bits of corn and chick peas which was nice for me. I asked for mine with no mayo, and he got his with a half-half side of salad and fries. They had no problem accommodating either request. The salad had a good amount and mix of veggies in it and the fries were nice and crispy.

The service was good too. The only moderately annoying thing was that about half way through our time there, our server was finishing her shift and settled up with us, then we settled again at the end. I get it though, sometimes it's necessary.

2 veggie burgers and about 18 beers totaled around 55$. We were there for around 5 hours so I may be a little fuzzy on the exact amount of beers.

Bottom line: If you're in the area, definitely check it out.

Elwood's is open late. Elwood's is narrow. Elwood's is awesome.

from the weird eyeball painting to santa with the hookah pipe, this place sets itself apart from the kits/broadway bar scene. the staff is always great, especially when you're at the bar.

the pub fare is good -- yam fries, poutine, etc

standard nightly specials keep it within a moderate budget

I love love love Elwoods! Whenever friends and I are up on Broadway we prefer Elwoods to the rest of the nearby pubs (though the competition is not incredible..) I used to live about 3 minutes from Elwoods so i know all about it - super friendly service, late-night kitchen with yummmmmmmy food, and pretty average drink specials (which is good enough for me).

Faves: their ceasars are cheap every day, and their veggie burgers are delicious. Also, on Sundays they have 2-for-1 appetizers! In the summer when they open the garage door on the patio and have the bar open-air, it's even better.

Elwoods is my favorite last stop before home as the bar stays open until about 2am every night. I'll attribute it to listening to Hayden's Elk Lake Serenade album too many times: I've developed a keen bias for anything that reminds me of a woodsy cabin.

It's unfortunate the patio can't be open later than 11pm although I love when the staff tries to corral people inside the tiny bar and close the garage door at the front.

The salsa, however, is pretty much purified garlic. So if you're on a date or really want to speak to any human over the next day or two, it's best to avoid it.

Elwood's has always been a trusty haven in times that you just want to grab a pitcher or three and gather round the old banquet for some quality catching up with friends. The seating is extra squishy and high. The lights are low. The music selection is loud enough to filter out other people's conversations, but quiet enough so that you can still hear each other cackling across the table. The delicious pub fare is served in delightfully generous portions. There is never a shortage of regulars lining the bar. It's good low-key fun, but...

Unfortunately, a but has presented itself upon Elwoods. Sometime between my last visit and the one before that, a bunch of Jameson elves must've snuck in and splattered the logo onto everything. I'm talking Jameson flags, a huge painted lady cheersing you with Jameson, Jameson bottles lining the wall, Jameson bar mats, Jameson banners, you name it! I think that after a few drinks, I went home that night and even had a Jameson dream.

My first and only experience with Elwood's was pretty sub-par. We were sent there for a married friend's birthday and his chance to get away from the duties of wife and child.  Well, Elwood's wasn't quite the sweet party we expected.
It's an alright enough woodsy, folksy pub the size of a postage stamp. It was almost completely deserted the night we came though the crowd picked up a little later on.
What was striking though was the fact that the prices were pretty high and the service was epically slow considering the size and emptiness of the bar. It could definitely be a nice little neighborhood spot if it weren't for that. Maybe we weren't 'regulars' so we didn't know the tricks of the place but it was overall a pretty blah experience.
They did have a good selection of booze and the food was alright but, yeah, I wouldn't bother with it again.

Just went back to Elwoods and it turns out they have new owners and I'm guessing, a new chef.  Portions are smaller and the burger was not that good.  The bun was heavy and tasted like yesterday's bread.  Fries tasted like they were from frozen.  Yikes.  Really sad that they have gone downhill because their burger used to be one of the best.  Oh well.  Nice place otherwise, but I won't be eating there again.  Why does a new owner thing it's a good business move to server worse food???

Not a style of 'pub' for everyone. Has the atmosphere of a 'boozer' - a great venue for drinking too much, so really aimes at the reckless young and the old, hardened drinkers. Customers behave a bit rough, and staff are perfunctory. With so many better places in Kits, I won't be back.

Elwood's is my top pick for Broadway bars. Mind you the category is pretty weak, but here fun is had.  Although quite long and narrow, I have never been bothered by the close quarters.  The atmosphere is upbeat, the service is great and the drinks are cold.  The music tends to be mellow but loud.  I wouldn't make this my weekend destination, but it does the trick for a pitcher once in a while.  On weekends the Kits crowd always packs these bars.  If you're looking for more sedate night, best avoid this spot on weekends.

I went to Elwood's on Halloween. They had a 30s gangster theme complete with music. It was pretty awesome. The service was average... our server was friendly, but inattentive... it shouldn't take ten minutes to get her attention. The overall atmosphere is great... really diverse crowd, low lights and a sticky floor. Just how I like 'em.

Great place to hang out with friends, but not cheap.  The "Canada Day" special this year was a Corona and a Tequila shot for $10.  Really?  The food can range from quite good to very poor.  I recently had a fish and chips where the batter just slid off the fish from being undercooked, and other people I was with had a veggie burger where it basically crumbled into nothing.  Still, if you're going to Elwoods you're probably going for the beer and atmostphere and it's great for that.  I go there every couple of weeks and would recommend it.  I just wouldn't recommend going there if you're expecting a great meal or have a big group since it is fairly small.
