i'm rounding up because i feel generous.
so, i'm tired of the cold spell and frankly wanted to dress like a girl dammit. since i'm staying at the opus, i figured i'd wear heels and not my snow boots.
the lounge was packed but i dreaded the crowd so i ate alone at the bar. the service was good. no hooks for your bag though...
the lamb cheeks was so rich and heavy that i ended up having a few bites and ordering the salad. the wine list is ok...but i'm a wine snob now living in cali for 3 years. no, not an alcoholic...moreso, a wine enthusiast.
the later it got, the more packed it was getting. so that was my cue to exit. it is open late till 3 am so i guess a good late night spot for a drink. -

I went to Elixir for a friend's 40th birthday celebration dinner. We were in a very nice semi-private room, and as it was earth-day the room was just illuminated by candles which provided great ambience. The service was excellent - It's a pity I can't say the same about the food. It was a set-course meal, and while the starters and dessert were good, the main course was just awful.
I had a chunk of rubbery pork that was mostly fat sitting in a pool of cold sauce. My wife had halibut which was dry and unpleasant. A friend's pork was terrible too, so we sent them back and the replacement wasn't much good either.
Another slight oddity about Elixer is the washroom attendant in the men's room. C'mon, this isn't Manhattan. I don't need to tip some guy for a hand towel.
So mostly full marks for the ambience (minus the attendant) but a fail on the food. -

My experience here was very different from the other two's, undoubtedly because I came here for weekday brunch as opposed to late night festivities. The atmosphere was wholly different from what was previously described: comfortable, relaxed and welcoming. Although it wasn't completely devoid of pretense, I stand by those three adjectives.
The staff was attentive, friendly and, coffee pot in hand, ready to help you get your caffeine fix for the day. The food, too, was delicious, particularly the eggs benedict. Rather than the stock-standard English muffin, the two versions of this much-loved dish come with either grilled tomato bread or a smoked cheddar and chive scone.
Though slightly hexy, it was no more expensive than other places of similar repute. -

Went here for an event. The event was catered by Elixir with the option of ordering food off their menu. At first I thought the food was great, was super close to ordering something off the menu until the Host (or manager or whatever) grabbed the menu out of my hand and gave it to someone else. Then he came back and made us feel guilty for not buying food. I told him straight up that he took the menu out of my hand before I had the chance and instead of apologizing he said he didn't recall the incident.
So, maybe this review is a bit biased because I would've given it more stars if the service was better. Thank goodness there are places like Yelp where I can vent. -

Like most Restaurant in Yaletown, overpriced, but crappy food. Had lunch there for the first time couple of days ago and ordered a Watercrest salad, the most horrible tasting thing ever. It had no flavour and no texture to speak of. Actually, not true, all I could taste was overwhelming sweetness of the soggy peach bits and nothing else. I left 2/3 of my plate. I was still hungry!
The service was good, but I couldn't understand the server girl's English at all (cool accent though). She did have a very cute dress on that I wanted to buy. -

Elixir used to be a pretty cool place to go to for eats and to lounge, however somewhere along the way it just went down the crapper.
The service is pretty horrendous. Perhaps it's due to the high turnover rate? I never seem to see any consistent service staff here it's always different.
Along with that the level of service is just equally as inconsistent..sometimes it's good but mostly it's inattentive and down right lacking. -

I've been to Elixir many times late at night, for drinks. It's gotten very pretentious, though, and I don't know if we'll go back. It used to be that you could just walk in and sit down. Now you have to go in at the restaurant entrance and the bouncers look at your ID and all that crap. There's a velvet rope now, too (ugh). Well, once our group got in, we sat down in a comfy area and ordered a round of cocktails. We were chatting and dancing a bit and just generally chillin, and the waitress informed us that there was another party with a reservation for 12:30am. So she wanted to know if we wanted anothe round. We'd only been there for about 30-45 min! She was obviously just trying to get us to order more. And come on, who makes a reservation to sit in a bar at 12:30? Complete BS. So we just left after that.
PROS: cool ambience, comfy seating, good drinks, great music (DJ)
CONS: pretentious, expensive, annoying wait-staff -

This is where people go to see and be seen. Anyone who's anyone has been here on any given night. It's ridiculously over priced, and the bouncers think they're hot shit... but honestly, it's not as pretentious as it seems to be.
It's comfortable inside, and there are usually quite a few people (although most of them are actually staying at the Opus Hotel which is just upstairs from Elixir).
The one thing that I would recommend if you have your heart set on going here, is that you arrive early and look good! -

The Opus's reputation on weekend evenings totally seems to overshadow the quality and good value of its food.
It's pretty classic French bistro food, done really well. All our mains were under $20. The Mussels were fantastic, just as good as the ones I had at Chambar a few months back.
Service was also charming and fun. The only downside was it was virtually empty so zero atmosphere. Seems it is only ever way too busy or way too quiet here. -

Jen loves Sunday brunch and i like to eat anytime so this works for me but trying to find something edible between 10-2 on sundays is like... well I don't know what its like but it's hard.
We both had benny, we've had way better. Nothing else left to say -

I went to Elixir for dinner once, and I would not recommend it. They try to come off as fine-dining, but the food is terrible and overpriced. There are so many other great restaurants, I wouldn't waste my time on this one.
