Review from Rick C.
The prohibition pretend theme was pretty clever and some of the 1930s era costumes, particularly by some very fine ladies was pretty stellar.
There was sex, drugs, gambling and booze of the sort. Speaking of the booze, the UK Vodka drinks were great. Talk about generous portions. All three of my drinks, lemonade, cherry, and blue raspberry were probably equal parts soda and vodka.
The free food was pretty awesome too. Michi Sushi's spicy scallop rolls were delicious in their hand-held wrap forms. I enjoyed the tiny fish-shaped individual containers of soy sauce. The vegetarian spring rolls were also delicious in addition to the duck and pork bread slices. -

DUDE! I loved this venue! Such a dynamic space-- a maze of quirky spaces filled with people in conversation. It was a night of really chilling and getting to know familiar faces. Loved it. And seriously, a morgue? How creepy/clever/awesome is that? The environment was great and the company even better. There were endless drinks available but what I really wanted was the food-- I pretty much stalked the food people (what else is new) because I didn't want to get light headed... or more light headed from having come without pre-eaten.
Crystal H's headpiece-- Shabam!! That was hot. So much hottness at that Prohibition party, Hansel. Great theme, fab times-- thanks Crystal & Museum people!! Can't wait to go on the DTES Police tour with y'all... : ) -

Any excuse to wave my hair and slap on some red lipstick gets five stars from me.
The venue for this event was super cool! My favorite bits included snacks on the morgue drawers and refreshments in the autopsy room. I eyed up that vino like there's no tomorrow but allergy meds kept me away. Ohh, and then locating the Yelp fans, as cool as this event was wow it was a little muggy!
My +1 was enthralled in reading/viewing the exhibits, I giggled over those posing on the dissection table (totally appeals to my morbid sense of humor and if I wasn't feeling ill I woulda been sooo in there).
Crystal H did another fantastic job! Sorry to everyone I chatter with I wasn't feeling too social tonight (allergies attacked my throat, hard ot socialize when it;s hard to speak!).
Can't wait for the next party!
PS: Swish!! I got my Yelp bottle opener. -

Had such a fabulous time at the Vancouver Police Museum Yelp Elite event! I have been wanting to check it out for a while and what a great excuse to do so. It was really fun to check out the various rooms and learn about the history of the Van po po.
It was great to see the Yelp gang and I enjoyed the various tasty treats the circled around although I was very disappointed that I kept missing the Mishi Sushi trays! The flavored vodkas from UV were yummy (and deadly!) too.
Loved the costumes and wish I had saved my flapper dress that I wore at the last Yelp event for this one. I will get these themes down one of these days dammit!
Thanks Miss Crystal H for an awesome event! You blow it out of the water every time. -

We like, we like to party! And apparently if we drink enough we like to heckle people too!
There is nothing I like to do more on a Thursday night than be that loud obnoxious girl drinking moonshine out of a brown paper bag. Mission accomplished! I'm sure the lines of candy and medicine cups of jelly bellys didn't help me maintain my reservations, if I had any.
It was great to see so many people glammed up as flappers and cops at this event, and the BF as Sergeant Nuthuggers... wow thanks for the view! Oh and also I WANT YELP BOOTY SHORTS!! CRYSTAL YOU NEED TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN!! Congrats to the people who won the pasties, like my +1 said, you are the real winners! She was also the one who had to roll down her car window at the end of the night and puke, so maybe that's not the best compliment? She also thought that I had invited everybody back to our place for an afterparty... you know the "poorhouse." That's right, the more we drink, the funnier we get, or the funnier we think we get!
I am starting to see a lot of the same faces at the Yelp parties, which is definitely making me come out of the awkward shell a bit more, or maybe that's just the UV Vodka working its magic? Thanks for the good times!Listed in: Elitist Biatches

Uh oh. The Police Museum gave me a gambling problem. I want to play Fan-tan all day long!
The theme of the party was amazing, and the Police Museum was a perfect venue for it. I loved looking at all the name tags on the morgue drawers and geeking out. (Hoban Washburn? Phillip J. Fry II? Whoever did that display is a big nerd. I love it!) And when do you ever get a chance to lie on an autopsy table?
The rolls from Michi Sushi were delicious -- I'm definitely giving them a try now, especially considering they are so close to my apartment!
Thanks for Crystal for planning it and the Police Museum for hosting it -- although when the po-po bust down my door in a couple years for hosting an illegal gambling den in my apartment, I'm blaming you guys.Listed in: Elite events and UYEs

What a way to christen a baby yelper! Where have I been for the last decade to not be a part of one of the most elit-est and impressive social groups ever? =) Invited by one of my elite friends, I was quite hesitant to dress as a flapper..i was THIS close to wearing gold christmas garland to imitate the drop dress and look the part...would have stood-out unnecessarily! But once I stepped through the double iron doors and my heart skipped by the "silent greeter", I was excited to meet the rest of the po-po's and flappers!
It's always a sign for a good party when u're approached by a pretty girl and she tells you "Take this, it'll make you feel good." Good job with the pixie sticks, Crystal!! The sugar high with the alcohol provided by UV Vodka and Bear Flag wines served on an autopsy table might make people think of alcohol after-affects but I think it only added to the morgu-ish ambience! Although I only devoured one yummy sushi roll compliments of MIshi Sushi, the long line-up outside their serving room proved that food won't need to find them, the Yelpers will hunt and conquer!
Although I didn't get a chance to try the Chinese gambling games, from the rounds of boisterous laughs echoing from the glass displays of weapons and artifacts, the po-po mannequins were satisfied and didn't have to close-down any dealings..=)
Congrats to the fellow costume winners and everyone who dressed up..love chances to dress up not just during Halloween! Thank you Thank you Thank you to Crystal and UV wines for the awesome football portable bbq! also for everyone who slapped their stickers wherever they could find a spot...=) already feel the YELP luv! I should probably organize a UYE bbq to put this baby to the test! Crystal..help!! =) -

I just want to thank Crystal and Yelp for throwing me such an awesome birthday party. (Not exactly on my birthday, but close enough!)
Not exactly a detective, it took me awhile to make the candy-drugs connection. Loved the Pixy Stix "coke" and the Hot Tamales "dolls". I was all over the drinking vodka n soda from a paper bag (though I imagine the bad girls of Prohibition probably drank gin).
We loved the Michi Sushi rolls - too bad you had to pretty much camp out by the doorway to get your hands on one. Hot sushi, check it and see.
The venue was very cool (not in temperature!) and there was plenty to look at, although the small rooms and hallways of the Police Museum kind of inhibited circulation. But as usual, Yelpers are a friendly bunch and it's not too hard to strike up a conversation, especially with those wearing their wildest outfits.Listed in: Yelping: the Live Show

I wouldn't have missed this event for the world. In fact, I literally landed 2 hours before the event, changed at the airport and headed straight to the VPM! And my efforts were not in vain. I had so much fun playing fantan and scavenging clams. It even landed me tickets to the musicfest at 150 clams by the end of the night.
The food was pretty good. The sushi looked amazing but it's too bad I'm allergic to fish. It was fun to see everyone's costumes.
And as always, it was great meeting yelpers who were my "friends" that I hadn't met before.
I'd never been to the Police museum before and it was interesting to learn about Vancouver's dark side since it typically gets brushed over. And in fact, attending that event has led me to purchasing Groupons for the Sin City tour.
And finally, three cheers to Crystal and her party-plannin' skills for a job well done!Listed in: Yelpage

Definitely the most interesting venue for a Yelp party so far!! I had no idea Chinatown had such a seedy past - love it!!
It was really great of the Vancouver Police Musem staff to host this event - loved the informative tours on the contraband weapons! My favourite was probably the lip smackers knuckle ring!
This would be one awesome venue for a Hallowe'en party, with its real morgue and autopsy room! It was a bit creepy until I read the names on the morgue drawers and giggled at the "Maude Flanders".
Food from Michi Sushi and Salt were greatly appreciated! And now I feel like every party is incomplete without UV Vodka there!!!
Thanks again Crystal and all supporters! What an amazing theme and fun night all around!! -

That was an awesome party! Thank you so much for being so great to your biggest supporters... Even though us Yelpers spend a lot of time online, nothing beats getting out and meeting other members of this exciting, connected and engaged community of people!!!
The Police Museum was almost as hot as the people in attendance. I think it may be a secret ploy to make sure that everyone demolishes the delicious supply of UV Vodka in as short a time as possible.
I still can't decide what my favourite part of the evening was... The morgue bar? Photo shoot on the autopsy table? Sweaty detectives and hot cop uniforms? (Legal) gambling? Candy 'evidence'? Great food and great company? Crystal and the other great Yelpers who put on the event?
No matter how you slice it, the Vancouver Police Museum party was a fantastic evening. Thank you Yelp for building and supporting such a great community. -

Oh shit, this was a blast! A hot, elite chick i happen to live with put me down as her +1, so i showed up after volunteering at a cat shelter, still covered in cat hair and kitty litter dust. People still talked to me, so obviously a lot of that vodka was going down the hatch.
And a lot went down mine too. My choice that evening was 'go to yelp event with vodka samples' .... or 'go home and eat dinner.' The choice was obvious.
I did manage to snag some appies though! I loved the spring rolls... Anything with curry flavor is a hit with me! Who made those and where did they come from? I want more!! Also, i obviously had to try every single flavor of vodka... Er, sometimes more than once to make sure i really got it my opinion on it down! Surprisingly, lemon wasn't my favorite, but i really liked whatever that blue flavor was! They didn't remind me of flavored vodkas though, it was more like Sourpuss! And i think everyone was SUPER into the Police Museum. Rad!
Holy shit, i loved all the outfits! Next time i get to weasel my way into one of these i'm going to try wearing an outfit not covered in cat shelter. Maybe it was good i wasn't in anything nice since the vodka eventually convinced me to climb onto that gurney and try to put the medical tubes up my nose. Good times!!Listed in: Best Places to Drink Til You…

WOW! Such an interesting venue to host a party...by far the coolest thing ever! Thursday night could not have been spent any better than at this Yelp party.
Flavoured UV vodka (cherry flavour and coke tastes good together) and Bear Flag wines served in an autopsy room, complete with a autopsy table? Now that is a first for me.
Then there's all the cool exhibits to browse at (how to identify fake money, the weapons cabinet) while I savour on my delicious rolls from Michi Sushi. I loved the ebi mayo one! Delicious! To top that off, more food from Judas Goat and Irish Heather?! The curry potato spring rolls were a blast, and the smoked duck breast was pretty awesome too.
A Chinese gambling game, jellybeans/candy served directly from a morgue, fancy costumes, and catching up with familiar and new faces, oh Yelp!, this was another great night for me.
Thanks again to Crystal for always ensuring good times!!!Listed in: Yelp Elite Fun

Another great Yelp event. The lovely Crystal has outdone herself once again. Great work as always. Thanks to the Police Museum for having us there. It was an interesting place with lots to see. Perhaps too much to see. Felt wrong to be enjoying a tasty beverage as I came face to face with a photo of a deceased twelve year old with his toy gun through is eye socket. Mmm this flavored
VodkAAAAAAAAOOHMYGOD!!!!!!!!!
Thanks to the bartenders for an awesome job. Wodka isn't really my thing comrade but that Bear Flag wine was crisp and tasty. It helped beat the heat when not hanging in the morgue. The sushi was great. Best california roll ever. I'll be stopping by to try one of those soon.
Good to see familiar faces again and look forward to the next gathering. -

First of all, let me just say that I was impressed with the number of people who dressed up. It's always so much better once one's fears of being the only one in costume are assuaged.
And second of all, the food was delish. I loved the little michi sushi rolls, and the spring rolls, and the other stuff. My favorite drink of the evening was sprite and one of the vodkas (I think lemonade). Learning fan tan was fun, and I came out even! Yay, I didn't blow my savings of clams!
And thirdly, I loved the displays of all the illegal weapons and other things. They were the bee's knees. I think I may want to come back to the museum to see the names of the deceased individuals in the morgue, I totally missed that one. -

The disjointed floor plan and lack of air-conditioning seemed to pester some people, but seriously - it's an old museum. A seriously cool museum that I never knew hosted parties. Yet another kudos to Crystal's party-planning skills. Despite having an unnatural obsession with old-timey ghoulish tales of crime and vice (hence my criminology major), this was my first visit to the Police Museum.
In my alcohol-addled state (thanks to UV Vodka), I half-expected to stumble into a Chinese opium den or run into Alan Moore's interpretation of Jack the Ripper - my delirium only intensified with the introduction of absinthe at the afterparty. If there was ever a time to caramelize sugar over the green fairy, this was the night.
But fascinating displays, weapons cases, and 'morgue' were filled with a fun-loving crowd dressed up in alluring flapper-wear and fetishistic police uniforms. The rolls from Michi were on-point and the supplements from Salt that I had were awesome.
I still don't understand why I'm the nametag sticker boy at the end of the night - when did this become the tradition? But keep plying me with good times and free food and booze and I'll keep playing along.Listed in: Yelp Events

An unforgettable night with Yelp at the Vancouver Police Museum! This was my first event and man was I ever arrested with such a clever venue and fun hosts! I've been bragging about it to friends and co workers ever since! Such fun photo ops and fascinating displays I want to come back here just to see everything that I missed.
Drinks that pack a punch and tasty treats; I had to take a nap afterwards on the autopsy table to recharge and reflect on how great this party was! -

I was super shy! This was my first real Yelp Elite event, and I'm sorry to say I barely said a word to anyone, except Crystal, who remembers who I am! I was amazed and chuffed.
I'm so scared you guys are going to kick me out of Elite, for not mingling :S
That being said, I'm so glad I got to go. I LOVE these themed events, I love dressing up. It reminds me of Disney World!
The Vancouver Police Museum is an awesome venue and I really enjoyed looking at all the artifacts (especially of the more macabre variety). Props to Michi sushi for satisfying my munchies. Those rolls were adorable and delish!
UV Vodka, you certainly do not skimp on the alcohol. Both cherry vodka cokes I had were 70% booze! I was so drunk by the time I left...
I'm a quiet observer, but I assure you my guests and I had an amazing time, and I'm hoping to recruit new yelpers every time I bring a different batch of friends!
Thanks for having us! -
Review from Mark H.
When was the last time you drank from a makeshift bar in an old autopsy room and used the autopsy table as a coffee table? Yup, a experience only found with Yelp.
I never knew there was a Vancouver Police Museum, so it was cool checking out Vancouver's crime history. Awesome, random weapons, some random mannequins that startled me, this place was full of goodies to look at.
Mishi Sushi provided their signature sushi-to-go wraps which were pretty tasty. I can't remember which ones I had, but 2 were enough for me! Later on curried potato-samosa like spring rolls appeared (yum) as well as some kind of thin, pork salami type deal on crackers.
UV Vodka returned, serving up their vodka of course along with Bear Flag Wines.
I tried one round of that Chinese gambling game but lost of course. The Director of the museum was quite the character and would make a great dealer at any casino (or circus).
Props and Thank you to Crystal H of course as well as the lovely Yelp-tern Tania Y for organizing such a fun event! -
Review from Gina I.
Seriously the only thing that would have made it better woulda been a/c, but you know what? It's a museum! An old morgue! Old building! C'mon! :)
Free-snorting pixie stix, sushi handrolls and duckbreast toasts, yum! UV vodka, jelly bean & mike and ike shooters.. Crystal dressed up like a hottie (and Rachael T too, holy hannah hotness!)
It was fun. I am thoroughly a fan of things like this. The only thing that was missing was Charles Manson.
As usual, an awesome place for an event, although it was very broken up because of all the rooms.. I loved the 'jail' too.
Crystal, you rock. Again and again, over and over.. -

If it had air conditioning it'd be a 5 star. Everything else was top top notch and the folks who volunteered for this event were awesome!
I'll put up pictures tomorrow. I forgot my cable for the camera at the office. Sorry!
Thanks to all the supporters there. The Sushi, the drinks, the pork and the duck. I have to say, this had to be one of my favourite's this year. I was just too pooped from a long day at work and the heat.
Got to meet new people and places!
I really enjoyed all the decor, I had no idea there would be so much contraband there!Listed in: Elite Event Locations That…

Wow, what an introduction to the Yelp party scene! What was not to like??? Not much to be honest! The only downer was the lack of air conditioning but 2 or 3 Vodka (pick your flavour) soda's later you were none the wiser, or it could have been the yelp fan that I was sporting.
Between the lies of candy to snort (wink, wink), gambling clams, drinking from a paper bag (not like I haven't actually done that one before lol), sitting/laying on the autopsy table and the costumes it was one fun night! It was also interesting to read up on the cases I have watched on the news or seen in documentaries. Yes, I am that geek!
The one piece of Sushi I managed to get my hands on was very good. It was the Veggie one. I also managed to snag a piece of pork, some medicine jelly beans and of course the sugar lines.
I want to say thanks to Crystal and the rest of the Yelp team for making it so damn fun! Also thanks to the Vancouver Police Museum staff and volunteers, they made gambling that much more interesting.
PS, congrats to Reena being the queen clam scavenger of the evening *wink, wink*. -
Review from Mathieu Y.

Had a fun time gambling and looking at the display of the police museum. The sushi was pretty tasty and all the staff were incredibly courteous.
Yet the vodka tasted like cough medicine and required soda to mix... so I dont quite understand why it was flavored (if needed reflavoring?) I also cant imagine what it would have been like to work in the morgue in the summer years ago, when the air would have felt as murky as it did last night, plus corpse smell.
But the party goers in costume seemed to really enjoy themselves, and as I said the exhibits were pretty interesting, with most people seeming to hover around the drugs and murder mysteries...
An interesting two hours, but I think I set myself up for disappointment with the police museum exhibits. -

I've always wanted to check out the Police Museum so THANKS so much Crystal and Yelp for making it happen! The displays scary/creepy but so cool...I enjoyed all the stories that the friendly staff at the Museum!!
Let's see:
- awesome eats and drinks
- amazing costumes
- getting to see the familiar great group of yelpers and new additions
- gambling was fun...I didn't realize that I'd have to "mod 4" in the real world!
YUP - an awesome night. And I took one star the lack of A/C :)
Thanks Crystal for organizing another awesome event! I can't wait to see everyone again soon!!!! -

I had read in the paper about the Vancouver Police Museum months ago, and had put it on my "to explore" list since I was once a CSI addict. Lucky for me, I was granted a +1 +1 invite to my first Yelp event by Crystal and was able to learn about the museum AND Yelp Elite happenings at the same time!
I didn't quite know what to expect, but once I entered the door, I was startled by the dummy in policeman gear...but now in retrospect I wasn't sure whether I was startled because of the dummy or his bad toupee...,hmmm...
Anyway, I think that pretty much set the tone for the rest of the Prohibition themed event. (I regret not puting on my dress and slapping on my reddest Betty Boop lipstick though.) For a small museum, I was pretty surprised to find displays of weapons, human tissue samples, drug samples, etc. This all led up to the morgue where the snacks were housed and then into the autopsy room where the bartenders (you were great!) served vodka and wine. Now if I can only find out where the elusive Michi Sushi man is...
...once again, I must thank Crystal for pointing me towards the yummy Michi rolls with the cute fish soy sauce packaging. Not only did you point us in the right direction to finally scoring those coveted rolls (it was his last tray), but I also appreciated the fact that you skipped over us when you were distributing other goodies to ensure that everyone had a nibble.
I left learning some new gambling games, tasted a variety of UV Vodka from my Prohibition drinking cup/bag, and enjoyed sampling some finger foods. All in all, it was a great way to spend a Thursday evening--hopefully, I'll be able to attend more in the future! -

UV Vodka, candy, "drugs," gambling for clams, and COSTUMES! Loved all the costumes! Everyone did an excellent job dressing up! Everyone who dressed up really set the (crime?) scene! Thanks to Crystal for organizing this great party! Sushi was tasty and fresh, and food from Judas Goat was all delicious! It was interesting learning about crimes back in time at the Police Museum, even though much of it was pretty gruesome. Seeing weapons was also pretty neat! Losing all my clams at the gambling table wasn't so bad either! Can't wait for the next event!

Had a great time at the event and a surprisingly great event location. I think I probably spent way too much time looking at the crazy weapons but I had already lost all my clams. Chris from the museum was a great character and host and apart from the sugar headache I got later from too many sherbet rails, it was a great night.

this is the first yelp Elite event, thanks Crystal for invite.
well no doubt this was one heck of a party. location was perfect right across the real probation office (don't ask how i know its there)
I love the costumes, when i walk though the main hall and seen the ones in the VPD uniform I though there VPD where really there but after talking to some of them I found out there where museum staff (relieved, j/k)
The museum was a perfect places to throw a party, I didn't even know they did that. The gambling games where fun(even though Reena got the most clams), nothing like playing some 1920s gambling while drinking your booze out of a paper bag! It really gives you the feel like your in that era (thanks to everyone that dress up too) The exhibits where great I never knew they had home made weapons made my a 11 year old. (although I did make cardboard sword for Halloween when I was 8) The crime scene with the exhibits of Vancouver in the early day where awesome and creepy. I love how they had the some of the items use and photos of the crime scene on display.
I love the Michi sushi that was there! Love the fact it made with brown rice . The candy rails was too funny (yes i took a bunch of them) As for UV volka you guys always rock the house! I love how they where serving it out of the out autopsy room kind of gave me the chills, but nothing like some red wine and uv blue to relax the soul.
over all the experience was awesome. I think i went to the hidden washroom though it was not in the main hall and didn;t have any lights (feel really odd in there) Ran into Tracy.P and her bf there but she was already drunk lol. met johnson aka:nametag guy.
what a awesome way end a awesome evening going to the Pourhouse for after party. absinthe fountain rock. I never had it like that before. hmm and as for the absinthe I though we almost got extra there right @johnson too bad they saw the extra haha.
I like to thanks Crystal and Reena for inviting me and my friend out to this amazing event and I hope to have many more to come.
