Funnest. Event. Ever.
I mean - how can yyou go wrong... party bus + (Slurpee + Vodka * morning shots) + water fight = soggy stripper pole dancing. Now that is my kinda party!
So many laughs on the bus, and it was great to meet more Yelpers who I hadn't gotten to meet in person yet... and the wall of Yelp at Stanley Park as we approached the fight. Class!
Extra props to all who got on the pole, Crystal for planning such a kick ass event, Caroline for the tunes (yay my favorite song!).... and our course to the Elites who are just great fun!
It all started with the real-life hoopalicious on the way to the meeting location for the pre-party. (http://www.youtube.com...) This pretty much made my week.. Anyway. Vodka shots at 11am is nothing to be frowned upon. Then calling in a party bus with the six-flags them park song blasting with a driver who'd rather be referred to as carebear is not shameful. Then continuing to feed our poor bodies loads of sugar and more cheap vodka in preparation for a brutal waterfight... some people call this a problem, i call it talent.
Loved seeing everyone. We Yelpers roll deep, I'm pretty sure we looked intimidating as we mobbed in with our red shirts, sizing up our competition.. but once we pulled out our equipment, aka, "the cricket", it was all over for us. I am going back to get those kids who punked me.
5 sexy stars for the stripper pole. Incriminating pictures of the event to come!
This was totally fun! Great idea and the party bus was awesome pre-waterfight... next time I know I need to come with a hose and homemade water-pack on my back to have a chance since my teeny dollar store guns were lacking ammo :)
LOL - I think we may have another elite event idea here - pole dancing lessons anyone?
Yelpers, you rock the bus!
Everyone is so nice.
Crystal and Caroline must have worked hard to bring this fun event together.
I'm pretty sure everyone had a BLAST ;-)
The water fight was So-o-o-o much fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Poised for embarrassing pictures -EEEK!
My first trip on a party bus, and the very best ever so far!
But next time, there needs to be more room around the stripper pole(s). I mean, how can one be expected to do lots of fancy tricks with so little space?
Also, more hoses.
It's been a long while since I've done a lot of things that Yelp gets me to do, including waterfights, vodka shots and pole dancing. ;-)
The water fight itself was awesome! I didn't get a single water balloon though. It was fun being on a party bus... something i've never done till today.
And it was very convenient that 7/11's free slurpee day fell on the same day as the water fight.
Yay! See you all at the next yelp elite event.
I knew there would be vodka. I knew there would be slurpees. Vodka.... Slurpees..... Vodka? Slurpees? Oh!! For some reason, it didn't click for me that they went together. Wonderful idea! And the idea of a watergun filled with vodka is another awesome idea.
The bus was meant for partying- and that's just what we did. On the outside it really looks plain, despite a simple tag of "Vancouver Party Bus." It kind of reminded me of the small buses that take special routes for people with disabilities. But on the inside- some veeeeeerry interesting features. My favorite was the little ice pits between some of the seats. Great spot to let your beverage chill. And of course the infamous stripper pole- it looked like it was going to be ignored, but it got some action at the end of the day. CareBear (our wonderful and patient driver) played our music, loudly.
The water fight was lots of fun. We were a great team- but some people there certainly had some time into their strategies (buckets, giant super soakers, homemade water devices..). Though it was mostly adults, there were a few kids there having the time of their life.
It was a lot of fun. Can we do it again next weekend?
This event was SOOOO much fun!!
I totally wanna do it again!! =)
Crystal knows I was sceptical at first, but today was great! All that would have been better would be if one of us actually knew how to *use* the stripper pole. I figured for sure that out of 24 people one of us would have known how to do fancy tricks and hang upside down (in a moving vehicle no less)!
Slurpees, vodka, and a waterfight! How could anyone improve on that formula of fun? Add a stripper pole like we had. =)
Woke up, got out of bed dragged a comb across my head....Wait! That's The Beatles. No, no, no. I did wake up late, though, and missed everyone at Sunset Beach. Hmm, what to do now? Walk down Denman searching for Guns 'N Ammo. Lots of frozen yogurt, coffee and calamari. Not so much with the Guns N' Ammo. I figured I'd find the Yelpers eventually at Stanley Park but lo and behold! There they were, decked out in eye-catching red I Love Yelp garb, stopped at the local five and dime for weapons. Happy just to have found the crew, imagine my joy when I found out they had a bus! And coolers filled with water! Looks like some people were born with the planning gene. My kind of people. Thanks, Crystal and Caroline.
While we're waiting for our troops to return from a last minute Slurpee run, I get acquainted with the party bus. Roomy, comfortable and ho, what's this? It appears to be some kind of gymnastic apparatus. Someone leans in, whispers in my ear. 'OH! A STRIPPER POLE!' Yes, I guess I kind of see that now. With the mirrors and the lights. I get to wondering who had the bus the night before and hope it was a group of nuns on a religious outing of some kind. I do not ask Carebear (our lovable and capable driver) because I fear he will be brutally honest and shatter my fragile existence. More like something out of The Hangover than Sister Act.
But I'm getting off track. Forgive me! It's quiet on the bus as we head over to Lumberman's Arch. People thinking of their loved ones back home, all the things they never got to do, that language they always meant to learn. A lot of us hanging onto our dogtags, saying silent prayers before going into battle. The airhorn sounded. We took the field in a line formation, showing them what we brought to the party...a little thing called 'Yelp Whoop Ass'. (Available in fine food stores near you.) It wasn't long before we were drenched and pleading for mercy. Our dollar store cache of weapons was no match for the heavy duty arsenal we encountered. Gas masks! Homemade PVC water tanks , water balloon grenades coming from all directions. Seek out the dry, the weak. Show no mercy! And although I ended up soaked and my water gun was more like an ant trying to beat up an elephant, this was a perfect learning exercise for me. Next year, I'm coming back stronger, bigger, faster, tougher, meaner and with enough water to turn the Sahara into quicksand. Be ready Vancouver 2010 Waterfight we will be a force to be reckoned with!
Fortunately, there were no fatalities or severed limbs (a la Holy Grail). We got everybody back onto the party bus in one piece, soggy and smiling. Great tunage on the stereo, out come the vanilla vodka and suddenly, we're not in Kansas anymore, Toto. Some people, with coaxing and liquid incentive, got into touch with their inner stripper. Seems a shame to have a stripper pole and let it go to waste!
All in all, I would have to give this Yelp event a really big, wet thumbs up! Can't wait for the next one.
