    Two words: ROCKSTAR PARTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This was my very first event and it was off the hook!  Great venue, excellent food, fantastic drinks, awesome crowd.  I must give a few shout-outs:

To Kris (the owner), who kept the music bumping all afternoon long.  You are a king on the turntables and the Vestax mixer.

To Ms. Lydia and Ms. Andrea, who poured us red sangria, white sangria, Red Truck ale.  Very much appreciated.

To Crystal, for putting together a fantastic event and being a very good sport with the super-soaker.  Thank you for making my first Yelp event a very memorable one.

Cannot wait until the next one!

Take all of Mis Truco's goodness and combine it with a Yelp Elite Party?! This is the equation of fun-ness!

Another Vancouver rainy day, and us Yelpers were all decked out in our white outfits! Despite my dilemma in choosing matching footwear, I arrived in a summery white dress.

Love the space for this, felt like we were all in someone's living room. Very intimate, and conversations were flowing everywhere.

White and red sangria, as well as Red Truck beer were served. I enjoyed the white sangria the most, although sometimes it tasted like ginger ale. Didn't get a chance to try the blueberry ale though.

Food wise, there was a bread/ cheese and meats plate near the beginning, but it was gone quickly. Potato tortilla was also good, that bit of fresh tomato on top added some zing to it. Crispy bread wrapped prawn with the garlic aioli....another favourite of mine! Polenta fries with cheese fondue topping tasted soo good, and I also found out that it's now on the menu!! (Did Kris read my suggestion in my review?)

Kris (owner/chef) was our DJ for the day, and he kept the momentum in the room going great!

Everyone revealed their color of their underwear, and certain color wearers won themselves a Yelp toque! The best part was when Crystal had champagne shot in her mouth with a water gun. I had my camera in video mode all ready, but didn't run to the patio in time. :(

Met some new Elites and other prospective ones, as well as catching up with the familiar faces is what I always look forward to at these Yelp parties.

Crystal, thanks for organizing another awesome party, making this dreary Vancouver Sunday into something great!

Mmmmm polenta fries...polenta fries...polenta...err wait, stay on track!

Clearly, I still have polenta fries on the mind from the latest Elite event at Mis Trucos.  (Who knew Mis Trucos had polenta fries? Watch out Cascade Room!)

Great time at Mis Trucos where the space makes you feel like you're at someone's cozy house. You easily rubbed elbows with your neighbours which was great for mingling, but my oh my was I worried about my pristine white dress!  Never fear, our lovely hostess Crystal handed out Yelp rain ponchos which would keep us clean from tasty red sangria or paint for the great canvas that was set up for us to get creative.

I loved the tapas that circulated around the room. The standouts being the above mentioned polenta fries (they were actually little cubes) and the crispy bread wrapped wild gulf prawn + alioli (NOM!).

Lovely little farewell to Crystal at the end with Champagne mouth (did someone get video?!) and always great to talk with such friendly Yelpers...now I know what colour undies you all wear!

After ending my evening with a 6am dance card and getting up at 11am for the SPCA Paws for a Cause walk, which ended up with me donating all of my collections on my credit card and skipping the event for breakfast at the Reef, which entailed even more breakfast booze and bad behaviour, I then headed over to the Elite event at Mis Trucos for more drinking and debauchery.

This event was a white party, and I don't usually wear white, so I was the loser in black. After having some of the red sangria and fearfully trying to walk through the little room squished with people I remembered WHY I don't wear white. It was almost a challenge to NOT spill, but somehow I managed. I switched to the white sangria until they ran out, which was also surprisingly good. *I am not typically a white whino* The BF showed up in his giant white wig and tails, making him look like freakin Amadeus, which made me want to sing, "I'm the gayest, I'm the gayest, rock me Amadeus." He was obviously the winner for the whitest costume, so he was very pleased with himself. I just thought it was funny that we were having some hair of the dog and he couldn't take his shades off cuz he couldn't handle the light, especially with everyone in white.

There was also a table of paints and brushes with a giant canvas set up so fellow yelpers could let their artistic inebriation flow. I saw what looked to be a set of boobs on the canvas, and of course dared someone *cough cough Luisa D.* to add a few letters around the rack to spell boobs, which then further fueled my humour with comments like "are you checking out my boobs?" since people would stop and do a double take, probably wondering who the childish fool is who painted the boobs on the canvas. Suddenly our G-rated party became an adult party for people with the maturity of a 7 year old. But the finale came when someone else added the "I heart" above said boobs. This was when things started to get ri-dink-ulous, and someone else in our group painted "wing wang" on the canvas as well.

We didn't really get a chance to enjoy any of the snacks at the party, I'm not sure if they just got engulfed by people really fast or we just missed them entirely, but we took advantage of the free sangria, which was pretty decent. The tunes at the party were pretty dope, it was nice to hear some Yellow, Grandmaster Melle, and Sweet. I think Mis Trucos would be a cool place to kick back with some friends and have a few drinks on a cool summer day, especially with the nice patio out back. If you don't have a friend who lives in the West End, this is the place to go to pretend that you do, cuz its just like chillin at somebody's condo.

A dreary rainy Vancouver day, what can turn that around, a nice cozy place like Mis Trucos, and a full house of Yelp'ers, a dress 'white' theme to go along, and the cloud and rain just seemed to disappear. Actually I would have to re-phrase the above, the rain did not just go away, it felt like the sun was shining bright, and the heat was on. This was my second Yelp Elite event, and this time I decided to bring some friends to experience what all the other Yelp Elite's know and love about these events: a fun atmosphere, with a whole bunch of people who love to review and share their experience with others!

I love the fact that every Elite event is a different experience entirely from start to finish. I have to always give a big thanks to the main hostess of these events: Crystal, as always gives that super big smile right at the front, and she was dressed all in white! (Good Job!). The second, would have to be to Kris (being the owner, and at this event the DJ) and his place: Mis Trucos, for containing all of us under this roof.

It is always fun stepping into the place at the greeting table and getting the Yelp "My Name Is" sticker, except this time it was not just your name, but the colour of your underwear that you had to add. I will say this, I was definitely blue, and I found out that some of the guests I brought were also the same colour. We also got free ponchos at this event, thanks for the free swag (and also getting another lip balm!). I think the underwear colour was definately an ice breaker in regards to meeting up new Yelp'er's, and ones that I met the last time around.

I had a brief chance to try the polenta fries, and the crispy bread wrapped prawn, but on this day it was all about the sangria. Props have to go out to the people behind the bar for practically controlling a mad rush of people from start to finish. I did not see them stop moving, from mixing, pouring, and serving, these people were amazing at being able to keep up the pace. Red Truck beer, and red or white sangria was filling the veins of all Yelp'ers in this house. Some of us even decided to go to the outdoor rainy patio, as the saying goes, it was definately getting "hot in there"!

All good things have to come to an end, and on this day we at least had a chance to see a super-soaker filled with champagne, and Crystal being the one on the receiving end of this shot. Also, I think the person who was behind the gun was shooting low (and hopefully someone with video will post this!) as Crystal was definately lurking her head low, like a rattle snake, to chase the flow of champagne!

Cheers again to all that were able to attend, it is always great to see familiar faces, and meet new faces in one great setting. I think I was able to convert my guest into future Yelp'er's of the community.

I have to agree with Colene. The polenta fries with that delicious cheese fondu sauce was to die for.

This was my first Yelp event and I had a great time. It was wonderful meeting so many of you and I look forward to a lot more events in the future.

As an aside I painted the "Cow or Dog?"

    The answer...it's neither. It's a horse! :D

    Cheers everyone!

Yet another strong Yelp event - notwithstanding the uncooperative weather.  Only a few of us were brave enough to venture to the patio, making it extremely packed inside.  Great concept on defiantly wearing white after Labour Day - unfortunately, the rain was just a brutal reminder that summer is over.

Highlights include the owner spinning up some great tunes.  If my ears didn't deceive me - I heard 'White Lines'.  A mark of musical sophistication and not just coincidentally related to the theme.  With the excess of the champagne gun and the flashiness of the white duds - somehow a Scarface-sized mound of 'yayo' on the bartop would not have been entirely out of place.  And now you know why I'm not permitted to plan these events.

Good call on the ponchos - sangria and white clothing can only end in tears.  Too bad they ran out of the R&B Cream Ale - the oddly red 'Blueberry' brew was not to my liking.  However, you can never go wrong with Lager.  The staff did their best against the always-ravenous Yelp crowd but were definitely overwhelmed.  I always felt like there should be some post-trauma support group for anyone that's served at a Yelp party -- "Show me on the doll where the Yelpers snatched food from you."

Good use of the name tags - adding the colour of your unmentionables was a fun twist.  Sorry if I offended anyone - I didn't mean to make you feel awkward if I was inquiring about your undies - but you're asking for it when you describe colours with obscure terms.  Next time, I'm packing aubergine boxers.

I guess - in a weak example of the property of transitivity - I have Tom Jones-esque appeal because at the end of the night, I collected the colour of everyone's knickers via name tags.

Somebody please tell me the white attire+walking around in a crowded space with full glasses of sangria was cheeky and intentional!

Other than the horror of possibly spilling red all over my fuzzy white coat, what a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon!  The food at Miss Trucos was delicious - a little too delicious since I barely got any.  :(  What I did have was spectacular - my favorite was some sort of fish pile on a little crostini.

Despite the rain, everyone was in good spirits!  I look forward to more Elite events, whether I'm in the club or a +1.

Ummm.. never show up late to a yelp party.. the food goes fast!

I only got a little bit of a mess on my white white dress but that's bound to happen I guess..

My plus one's had a blast.. just a little too tiny for the amount of guests. I'd like to see this venue in it's regular set-up before choosing it as a place to chill in the west end as I didn't get to sample the food so I have no idea if I really want to eat there. The sangria was delish though and I had more than my share..

    Thanks for the panties Crystal!

Great event! I think I'm the only one who wore the poncho, aside from Crystal H. who got sprayed with bubbly.  But it was worth it because I think I would have gotten my whites all dirty from the paints, awesome sangria, and the Red Truck Blueberry Ale.

I thought the rain was really fitting weather for this event (don't shoot!) because it was like we were saying, "yeah, fall is coming. It's going to rain. but we can have a great summery time regardless any time of the year!"  Thanks so much Crystal and Mis Trucos for reminding us that not all is lost when summer goes into hibernation in the Northern Hemisphere.

Great food from Mis Trucos!  There could have been more of it. I think I only got a few items and I was standing next to the kitchen.  But the prawns wrapped in crisp bread were amazing.  I also loved the rillete and goat gouda (or at least that's what I thought it was).

My favorite was the painting canvas that Thu got to take home! We should have something like that at every event!

I think the biggest issue with the evening was that it was quite a bit crowded for the size of the location.  It made it more likely for me to stay in one corner of the restaurant, since it was hard to surf the crowds.

Thanks Crystal for planning another event for us Yelpers!

I had a fun time snacking on tapas while sipping beverages and catching up with my favourite Yelpers.  I even got to meet a few new elites, and finally meet some folks whose reviews I have enjoyed reading.

Tight space, paints and white clothes = yikes!  Somehow in my half a minute at the paint station being as careful as possible I still managed to get pain on my white dress.  A red dab up by my shoulder.  How that got there I have no idea.

Anyhow, it was a great way to spend a rainy Sunday afternoon.  Thanks Crystal and we will miss having you as a CM.

Loved the music selection.  Very nice choice of music!
Although i didn't get to try much food, what I did have was pretty good.
I ended bulking up on the rice crackers that were left over. :(

People would rush in on every plate that came out.  Meaning, this must've been good food!!!  I think I had a glimpse of charcouterie. Yum!

The rain, well what can I say. Welcome to Vancouver!

The Atmosphere, splendid, tight confines made for great  comfy and cheerful conversation amongst Elite and plus 1's.

Champagne always served best at Yelp events with a water gun.
Safety goggles a must have for protection.

Benefits: You smell like Champagne.  All that's missing is Caviar!

From all the people that I've told about this place since.  I've been saying.
"you gotta try this place. Ms Truco's, in a house, on Davie street. Go there if you like your tapas."

Thanks Crystal for organizing yet another awesome elite event!  And special thanks to everyone that came if you contributed to that painting - it's hanging in my apartment hallway entrance right now and looking awesome - I love how someone wrote "Flag as inappropriate" under the "I love Boobs" comment.  Now I'll forever remember the Mis Trucos party :)

Stepping into Mis Trucos with everyone in their summer white dresses or white attire made you forget the rain just a little bit.  I definitely think if there was no rain, we wouldn't have been stuffed inside the intimate space but what can you do :)  Kudos to the bartenders, I don't think there was ever a time that I didn't see a lineup for the awesome white and red sangrias and red truck beers.  I really liked the white sangria and the blueberry beer!

As for food, I didn't get to try too much this time but I do agree with everyone's comments on the Polenta fries - whatever that sauce was was heavenly!

I enjoyed meeting some new Yelpers and +1s or potential Elites as well as running into all my friends I've met in the last few months of Elite Events!

The best most random part of the night is when I won the draw to use a watergun to spray champagne into Crystal's face...er i mean mouth! :)

Wearing all white and drinking sangria amidst a packed little place called Mis Trucos full of Yelper's: dangerous for the wardrobe yes, worthwhile? Of course!

Yup the rain was expected so no venturing out to the patio, but that's Vancouver.

Coming hungry, I positioned myself by the kitchen so I didn't have to attack the server. Noticeable mentions: bread wrapped prawns, mushroom thingy on cracker, polenta fries with fondue (mmm), and trays of meats, cheese, and veggies. Food disappeared within minutes!

Sangria was decent, with the white tasting better than the red. Also tried out Red Truck Beer's honey brown ale and their blueberry (although red in colour) beer. Interesting but I didn't taste blueberry! Bar staff were fast and chirpy, although I think they may be a bit scarred from the onslaught of thirsty Yelper's.

Owner was the DJ? Love it. Spun some great party tunes.

I didn't catch Crystal being shot with a champagne super soaker, but the idea was pretty awesome.

As always, great to see friends and meet new ones.

Props to Crystal and Mis Trucos!

How can you not have an enjoyable time when handed a Yelp poncho upon your arrival?

Proximity made this an intimate gathering, it was great seeing some faces in real life (meeting new, reuniting with old). The sangria was so tempting, but as the driver I had to hold off [sad face]. The snackies looked delicious too, and they must have been with people actually following the servers! And the music just set the right tone.

Everyone looked so lovely in their white duds!

Kudos to Mis Trucos' owner/chef Kris for DJing at this event.  Nicely played tunes!
We were many packed into a small space which made for a lively gathering.  Sangria was flowing but I stuck to beer.  My favourite was the blueberry ale.  Was this a Red Truck product?  I must find out.  I usually don't go for fruit beers but this wasn't too sweet/intense, just refreshing and tasty with a hint of blueberry.  Yum-a-lum!
I'd just had brunch at The Reef so I didn't eat much.  I tried one salmon canape that was delish.  People were going crazy for the food though.
As usual the yelp swag was fun.  Ponchos, wrist bands, buttons and lip balm were out today.  There were prizes for outfits and for underwear, or lack of it.  My good friend Isaac T won for his Amadeus-style, white dandy of a wig and white tails and my +1 won a sweet toque for going commando.  My friends are awesome!
Crystal also offered up the chance to shoot sparkling wine into her mouth out of a super soaker.  Talk about taking one for the team!!  As Colene C mentioned: there'd better be video.
Congrats to Crystal for throwing yet another entertaining get together.  Her successor will have big shoes to fill.
