Good times, good times. I'm not the most outgoing person in the world (that's what Dave is for, hehe), but I enjoyed meeting the few yelpers I did and chatting with the few I already knew.... my thoughts on the evening, condensed:
- Gallery was really nice. I think it'd be pretty sweet to be the curator of a gallery. Although the whole Red String exhibit would have been enjoyed a lot more by me if it was, I dunno, a few benches made out of some red string instead of a giant cat toy, maybe a few chairs... I'm lazy and like to sit :p
- Yay mimosas! (but boo no more raspberry liquer.)
- People's pumpkin desserts were amazing. Reena's cupcakes with the goat cheese frosting were, as I said, inspiring. And I think people liked the cheesecake I made. which makes me happy :)
- Why is Crystal so nice......?
- Glass ornaments and hand-made jewelry was cool. Really liked a necklace. I'm a craft person though so maybe I'm biased...
- The salsa verde was tasty. Vegan cheese doesn't taste that bad after all...
- I think that's it....
Other than my awkwardness clouding up the room, it was an awesome event! I hope to attend more. -

Boy I was stoked to come out and meet my fellow Yelpers last night! I would like to pay tribute to this great event with Britney Spears' new single. Now now, don't get me wrong, you may or may not like Britney, but she sure knows how to party, and it shows with her songs!

I am so glad I came to the event. My brother enjoyed being a +1 and chatting up with the other +1's! I think I'm going to get him to start using Yelp more often now. I certainly enjoyed meeting the other members of our little Elite 09's. I didn't get to meet everyone, but "Hi!" to everyone else!
Crystal and the other managers from the other regions who came up to help. THANK YOU!!!!
After the event, we were going to go for something to eat in the area, but somehow ended up driving over to The Flying Tiger for a bit of grub. So in we walk with our Yelp name tags and buttons and stuff talking about the event and food and service and yelping! Then we started taking pictures of the food and yelped some more! The staff were wondering what we were doing. and then I realized I had my Name tag on for everyone to see! OOOOPs!.
I'll have to do the writeup on the post event/dining out at the Tiger later.
Thanks Everyone! Everyone was so pretty and handsome. Crystal you looked FABULOUS! (am I a suck up or what?).

Amazing amazing is all I have to say.
Good drinks, good times and great art. How could I ask for more?
If I didn't have to leave early I would've stayed all night.
Thanks to Crystal once again for throwing an amazing event.
I talked it up all the way home and I think I convinced a few strangers to join Yelp now too. -

I had an awesome time at this elite event! I was glad I had the chance to bake something. Sad that I didn't win that super awesome necklace for the door prize.
I was happy to be introduced to Cocoa Nymph chocolates because I've been eying that place for a while and I finally got to taste it. I'm sure I'll come in to the store now! Probably to study or something. Amazing chocolates.
My +1 and I were very happy to learn about Spud! The tomatillo salsa was delicious!
The mimosas were awesome! I was a bit sad they ran out of raspberry liqueur so soon. :(
Also there was a lot of eye candy at the event. :-D And I don't just mean the paintings on the wall (which were amazing, btw)!
Jacana Art Gallery was an amazing venue for this type of event. I can see a lot of Holiday parties being successful here. Reminds me of the venue that was used for the Work Christmas Party in the Movie, "Love Actually" where the secretary was hitting on the boss. I would love to come to more events like this at art galleries... specifically at Jacana!

Once upon a time, there was a beauty named Crystal H. Not only did she wear a lovely mustard-coloured frock to meet and greet all Yelpers with a smile, but she was known all across the land for putting on fantastic Yelp Events. Alas, all people from near (Kits) and from far (Burnaby) came to know this one lovely evening that Crystal never disappoints.
Whence one walked into the white-walled but beautifully art-attired space, known as Jacana, they were greeted with the sweet and spicy aromas of home-baked pumpkin goodies (thanks all contributors....let the horns sound in gratitude to you all!). And might I say, the pumpkin cake, so soft and pumpkiny in all its goodness, still calls to me from across the land (kudos to whomever made it - awesome!....er, I mean 'most glorious'). Chocolates from Cocoa Nymph (did you try the pumpkin ones? Yum!), and nachos from Spud (thine cheesy goodness kept me in close proximity for quite a time)...brought forth jolly laughs and satiated smiles from each corner of the room. And perhaps the lovely mimosas and Guinness and champagne cocktails brought forth even more jolly laughs.
And, given the wares from the upcoming 'Make-It' Event, doust thou not think that beautiful gifts for all merry people in your life will be found Nov 20-22? Indeed! Thank you Crystal, and all Yelpers alike, for a lovely evening.
The End (well...till next time anyway) -

It was my first time at an Elite event and I had a really great time. A very interesting crowd of people from all walks of life. The food and drinks were amazing, I think there's even evidence of my scarfing down a pumpkin cupcake. It was also great seeing work from local businesses. I won a cactus, and I normally never win anything.
I've been to Jacana many times for events (mostly cause I'm close friends with Penny) and the events are always fun there. The space is amazing and very versatile and the art work is always amazing. They're also always very welcoming and accommodating team there.
All in all, writing cause I want to be an Elite! -

Pretty cool space to have a Yelp event, kudos to Crystal! As usual, disappointed that I didn't get to meet/talk to more Yelpers (I am shy, really!).. But to the ones I did get to talk to & meet again it was awesome.
The drinks were perfect. Not too boozy for a Thursday night ;)
Thanks to all the little treats and all the handmade goodies - I will for sure be attending Make It! -

Who knew there were so many Yelpers?!
A big thanks to Crystal and company for providing a great venue, tasty food, and bountiful drinks. If I can justify spending $2k, there is a particular painting even that caught my eye while we all munched nachos.
A fab event overall - I look forward to the next one! -

Kudos to Crystal for looking adorably cute in her mustard dress and using this lovely venue! The gallery was a great setting and the company and food was fabulous!
Not only do yelpers like to eat, but they bake too! Huge raves to everyone who made something - loved all the twists on pumpkin from cakes, to cheesecake, to cupcakes to squares.
I am especially happy to have been introduced to Le Petit Cupcakery. Their mini cupcakes were TDF - moist, tasty, and creamy frosting that's not too sweet! I am not a fan of the Cupcakes chain, so I'm hoping to see more of these! -

I'm so glad I made it to my first Yelp! event to meet and talk to other Yelpers of whom I had only seen pictures on the site. An awesome event at a great venue with amazing art, food, drinks, and crafts.
Thanks again to Crystal and other organizers for putting the event together and I look forward to the next event. -

Jumping Yelpers and +1's ;) everywhere! This Jacana Art Gallery was full of Yelpies eating pumkiny treats, drinking Mimosy drinks, and and having an Autumny good time meeting with new people who are laid back, stylish and fun. ;)
Had a great time meeting other Yelpers and checking out the nice gallery adorned with paintings. The handcrafted necklaces and accessories table was also nice.
Thank you Crystal for organizing this event! -
Review from Sarah O.
The idea of art + drinks + great people is ingenious and fortunately, executing this idea was equally, if not more so ingenious. You can always expect yelpers to come with style and flair but they took it to a new level at Jacana Art Gallery. Home made baked goods from our very own! Delicious! Pumpkin everything is like heaven for me.. how good were those chocolates and mini muffins?! Also glad for the savory nacho stand by Danielle, which gave a nice balance to the sweet and salty. I definitely underestimated the brandy in my mimosa and probably lost quite a bit of my social grace..oh lord. But hey, the art was wonderful and the space was nice and cozy.. overall a sophisticated way to spend a Thursday night I would say!

Another awesome Elite Event! What a killer combo of art, yummy treats, bubbly drinks and awesome company. The Jacana Art Gallery lent itself superbly too with its clean, elegant yet funky vibe. It was very nice to meet some new Yelpers and the Make It gang was happy to show off their wares. Crystal was smashing as always with her hot lil dress...meow!

I didn't stay for the full 2 hours but what I did catch was enjoyable. We loved the raspberry/sparkling wine cocktail and were very impressed with the creative Guinness/sparkling wine combo. Who woulda thunk?? We admired each painting around the room and the artist's beautiful use of colour and precision. It all made sense after chatting with Pennylane and learning more about the artist. It's a cool little gallery. Our highlight was talking with Cocoa Nymph's Rachel. I know where I'm getting all my stocking stuffers this year!! 'Make It' looks like it's going to be really cool to check out before Christmas as well. I thought it was very sweet how many yelpers brought their handmade goodies to share. That's community spirit! Crystal - your dress was perfect!!
