Do I love glitter...yes. Did I love being the glitteratzzi at this glitterific event...umm yes.
To be honest this event was definitely in my top 5, while being a little bittersweet as it was the last of the fantastical Kat F, it was so full of great elites, strong flowing drinks and GOLD GLITTER. How can you go wrong. I was again blessed as the door girl, and that allowed me to meet our new Yelp "Where's Waldo" for the party. You know who I'm talking about, she was in just about every picture. As it turns out, the "life of the party" worked downstairs and crashed the dinner Sarah L and I enjoyed prior to the event. This is what I love about Yelp, not only do we sashay around with gold flecks, but Yelp brings great people together.
I'm proud to say that Neil T's camera and my creative photography blended beautifully and allowed me to capture some of the greatness whilst he was bringing on the drunk. It was hard to take a bad pic with the lighting and area as it was. I can't wait for the next brunch or party in this location, as it is always a sure bet. Great big thanks to the amazing staff, who were friendly (said I had great skin), and always ready to pour me another.
Bottom line...Fire on the East Side has ignited me, and I'm dying for their Celebritini!Listed in: UYE Me B*tch

My bed looks like I slept with a My Little Pony. What a great event. The food was piping hot and awesome, and the bartenders were on fire. I had never been to the upstairs room at FotES, and it's seemingly the perfect place for a jam such as this. A few words of thanks:
Thanks Danielle for showering me with (fucking) sparkles.
Thanks Dale for improving the fan technology used to blow more sparkles on me.
Thanks Lauren for your kind words on my non-moustache.
Thanks Neil for only moonwalking everywhere. You were hilarious.
Thanks to Michelle for making amazing cupcakes that took me 0.7s to inhale.
Thanks to Mike for not wearing a suit, even though he's always wearing a suit according to my sources on Twitter.
Thanks to Val for telling me about Party Down.
Thanks to Sarah for being my source on Twitter.
Even after so many Elite events it's great to be able to put new faces to the names we see on Yelp. I can't wait to see everyone at the next one.
The last word of thanks goes of course to Kat, who throws the meanest shin-dig in town. You will be missed.Listed in: Elite Events I have Reviewed

Review from Karl R.
The vast majority of my social life is spent wondering "when can I leave and be alone again?" Yelp Elite events tend to be the exception and this one was doubly so. I lit it up at Fire around 7:15. Before I knew it, it was 10:30. I would have stayed longer -- I would have loved to stay longer -- except I had to go to work the next day and had to be at the top of my form.
Kat's swan song as Toronto Community Manager was a booming symphony. A Beethoven's 9th raised to the power of 9.
The variety of food and drinks was impressive, indeed. If you missed one of Fire's capable and highly attractive staffers making the rounds with a tray, you usually found a matching tray of the food on a center table.
Kat and Fire On the East Side are going to be hard acts to follow.
Thanks again! -

When you feel as dazzling as a disco ball while dancing, and still sparkle the next day at work
When the food is so yummy and piping hot that you burn your tongue but keep eating
When there are crowns to be worn, and there is glitter fairy-dust when you move
When you get to hang out with a moon-walking drunk Niel T
When Devan R flirts with the male bartender to get drinks faster, better, stronger
When the drinks are so good you kind of want to triple-fist them
When Shari makes a fashionably late enterance and the whole room sings Happy Birthday to her
THAT is when you know it was the BEST.ELITE.EVENT.EVER! -

So much gold! So much glitter! So much goodness packed into one Elite event!
The Amazing:
- Potent cocktails delivered quickly
- Food served hot and fresh (and enough of it circulating to prevent drunkification too early)
- Servers who were ever so easy on the eyes; Colin can muddle my limes any day.
- My fave Elites and some new faces in attendance
- Yelpers who really embraced the theme
- Yelpers who made the effort to mingle
- All the ghetto-fabulous gold accessories
- $100-bill napkins; I wish I snagged a few so I can tell people I wipe my tush with Bordens
- A/C
The Sad:
This was Kat F's last Elite event. What are we going to do without her planning these amazing parties?

Even though I arrived late, I was welcomed by a Yelpified "Happy Birthday" and was blown away! You guys rock!
What a bittersweet night - great place, great peeps, but Kat's last Toronto Elite Event. It still seems surreal.
Fire on The East Side is a great place and a true treasure chest. Even though the vodka was flowing, I did notice that there were additional party rooms on the top floor, the main floor and even in the basement. You could have a wedding, funeral, bar mitzvah and a briss all at the same time in this joint.
The layout was great for an Elite event. The bartenders were top notch and I think had practised serving a large vibrant group before!! Thanks to those of you you bought me drinks!!
Again, an Elite Event is always a great time and, as always, I was pleased to be in attendance!! -

It's a pretty rare occasion nowadays when I get blitzed. I couldn't have picked a better night to do so (who cares about photographing duties?!). Had an epic time last night -- it was just the thing I needed.
Big ups to:
- My partner in drunkenness, Lauren M. for encouraging me to get the fuck over it and shoving mojitos in my face. Awesome!
- Connie for always having food in her mouth! I love it!
- Everyone for putting up with my moonwalking only policy
- To the lady I shall call "Chesty Leroux" for leaving gratuitous boob shots on my iPhone. They are now on the interwebs. Muhahaha.
- All you a-holes who texted me at god knows what time. Eff off!
- Last but not least, Kat F. for throwing another fantesticle event! You will be missed!

FOTES was where I first introduced to Yelp and Kat F. It felt kinda bittersweet to say goodbye there too.
Things I learned last night:
- Danielle P is a magical fairy who sprinkles glitter dust
- Celebritinis are my new fav drink even though I have no clue what's in them
- Neil T is a PIMP when drunk (or maybe drunkeness enhances his pimpability)
- I love beef empanadas
- I can make $100 without doing anything for it
- Steph C. is the best drunk ever!!!!!!
- Kelly O. and Dave O. are hilarious together, despite there being no relation
- Rita E. is a humble queen who orders well
- Marie F.'s coronation will be a big to-do!
- Kat F. can have people smiling even though they're all sad to see her go!!
- yelling "Happy Birthday" and "She's a Jolly Good Fellow" does not help if you're recovering from losing your voice
I agree with Randy on the next CM having big shoes to fill. At one point in the night, I looked around at everyone laughing and dancing and thought, "can anyone do it like Kat F?"
I got home around 1:30am, took a shower and realized I had glitter on my legs--and I was wearing jeans. That alone equals awesome night! -

Generally speaking I enjoy all the Elite Events and really the only thing to compare them to is each other. The Yelpie for Best Venue, Best Drinks (Mojito), Fastest Service and Most Food at a Toronto Elite Event goes to this event. I'd have to give the nod to Negroni on food tastiness and I'd have to say I had more fun at Salvador Darling but that was when we were all just getting to know each other.
One recommendation for future events is to try to set them up so that the whole room is used, even though there was plenty of space to move around at this event.
Arrivederci, Kat! (Italian?) -

All the gold and the guns in the world couldn't get you off
All the gold and the guns and the girls couldn't get you off
All the boys, all the choices in the world
Is it ever gonna be enough?
Simply put? No!
FOTES is a nice facility and I look forward to going back. The secret second floor hideout is a great spacious room for a private party.
The Mojitos there should really be renamed to the Mo-Tee-Hee-Hee-Toes, as they were yummie and kept everyone tres happy!
There were glitter girls (well one really glittery girl that sparkled for miles and miles), talk of Jersey girls, a birthday girl and a maniacal happy cheek pinching girl (*cough Connie*).
I skipped out on the food today, so there was no Omnomnomnoming.
Thanks Kat F for keeping your 5 star events streak going, and you get the ultimate gold star.Listed in: Lyrical Miracals

Maybe the mojitos are still talking, but I'm pretty sure that was the best Elite Event EVARRRRRRRR!!!!!
Highlights of my evening:
- Drunk dialing Janna S's boyfriend to tell him about the full body glitter
- Posing for money shots with Nicole B
- Finding out Vivek doesn't really have a creeper mustache (thank f*cking God)
- Convincing Neil T that drinking is the solution to all his problems (don't you feel better now??? mwahaha)
I would like to thank:
- Kat for brilliantly orchestrating this evening
- Devan and Payam for securing me the last available mojito
- Renata R & hubby (the Russian spies) for their endless entertainment
- Tony for showing up and spreading the love/sickness
- Karl for the free bibimbap offer (sooooo taking you up on that!)
- My roommate, for her Tostidos I ate before passing out (I'll replace them, honestly)
Great catching up with Danielle, Susan, Leeor, Bijan, the birthday gal SHARI!, Roma, Kelly and everyone else I'm forgetting -

Time for another Yelp Elite poem...
Tonight marked the last elite party with Kat,
To San Francisco, she ventures. That's where she'll be at.
Everyone looked sharp, spackled in gold,
A rich evening, indeed, with friends new and old.
It's been a while since I've been out with these Yelper folks,
It was so great to chat it up and exchange Yelper jokes.
Neil T was vicious with two cameras on hand,
Taking pictures: Click. Flash. Snap. BAM!
The bartenders were on, serving up drinks with a smile,
Hardly a wait was to be had; I only stood there a short while.
The celebritini was my date, we did it three times.
Ugh, I'm still buzzed, can't think of any more rhymes. -

There's really very little, I think, to say about this event:
- Great food, served fresh and frequently
- Great staff, very friendly and helpful
- Great drinks, flowing cold and with abundance
- Great space, easy to get to and great for the size of crowd assembled
- Great people, because Toronto Yelpers kick ass.
Easily the best Elite event I've been to since Harbord House, and it may edge out even that one (which was awesome in its own right). Truly a fitting farewell to Kat as she moves on to bigger and better things in the Yelp crime syndi... I mean, family. The next CM has some mighty big shoes to fill. -
Review from Steph L.
Glitz, glam, and delicious food with fellow elites, another FANTASTIC event!!!
A huge thanks to Kat F. and the Yelp crew!
Kat, no one throws a party like you!!!!
You will be missed!
I enjoyed the gold theme, even though I ended up looking like a Christmas tree ornament crossed with a Lady Gaga video.
I would like to personally thank Roma for the glitter explosion that was my face. :P
Additionally, I really like events where there is a food table, so you can hover and stuff your face.
It's just easier than following around a server!
* Crab cakes were crispy and perfect with tangy dipping sauce.
* Samosas were gigantic, piping hot, deep friend goodness.
* I have no idea what was in the quesadillas but they tasted really good.
* Mini cupcakes with lemon frosting were bite sized sugary treats.
Drinks were phenomenal.
So good, that I probably should have slowed down!!!
Strawberry champagne martini was sweet, summery, and easy to drink!
The mojitos were loaded with fresh lime, not too tart, and refreshing.
As the evening progressed, I think everything started to taste like glitter!
I had a super fun time!! Great party!!! :)
Fire on the East Side is a great venue, I can't wait to go back for happy hour or brunch! -

Nice.
The elite event is always something to look forward to and this one was no exception. The food and drink selection were top notch and everyone was in good spirits.
Hopefully we'll be taken care of just as well by the next CM and maybe Kat will pay us a visit sometime! -

I achieved a first this morning: I woke up with a terrific hangover thanks to a Yelp Elite event. I can usually hold my liquor, but deciding to blend a mojito, the two Celebritinis, and three or more white wines was not my smartest decision. In short, I woke up a mess covered in gold glitter.
But it was all worth it. Last night's event was definitely one of the best, if not the best Yelp Elite event I've ever attended.
It was a perfect combination of great food, great drinks, great service by the staff at FOTES, and of course, the great Toronto Yelp Elite crowd. Now, this may sound completely biased as I've never met the Yelp Elites in other cities, but the Toronto Yelp Elite group is the best. When the birthday girl, Shari M, arrived, we all stopped what we were doing and heartedly sang 'Happy Birthday'. Like, how awesome is that?
The whole evening had too many memorable moments that it's a whirlwind of awesomeness in my head. But there are some that should be noted:
- Michelle for making the world's smallest cupcakes
- Vivek for wearing a suit
- Neil for moonwalking and taking pictures at the same time (okay, I don't think this actually happened but I wouldn't doubt it if it did)
- Susan and Danielle for capturing more photographic moments
- Connie for morphing into the pinching queen
- Steph L for being the one most covered in glitter - no doubt you'll have an intimate date with the laundry machine this weekend
- As with previous Yelp events, I'm inevitably reunited with someone I know (and I like) from my past. This time, it was my friend Rod who works at Hair of the Dog and haven't seen in four years
Kat, thank you again for organizing this event. It was wonderful, just like all of the others but I have to say this one was my favourite. You'll be definitely missed here.

Oh for the love of Gold!
Best Elite event ever (the previous ones being hard enough to outdo as it is)!!
-Lovely staff at 'Fire on the East Side' who kept the drinks rolling and the food coming around.
The food was really tantalizing and the options were pretty diverse. I hope the hospitable folks at FotES realize how great their quesdillas and bruschettas are. I will second Steph and say I, too, love the concept of a food table. You know where I'll be at the next event! ;)
-'Elite only' events mean I can easily go around and get to know everyone and some a little more.
-I met a bunch of new lovely elites, who remind me how diverse a group we are. Awesome!
-Kat F.'s last event: means while SF gets an exclusive addition, we are going to have a gaping hole in our Yelping. Oh so bittersweet!
Can I just say how cool it is to have a glitter shower! Steph L. knows what I'm talking about and the small minority of people who missed out....
Regretting it now, aren't you? :PListed in: Elite Event Congregations

It's noon and I can't get rid of all that glitter. Guess this is a good thing.
I'll blame Colin (the handsome barman) and Lauren (my bad influence partner) for not being able to behave properly.
I ate, I drank, I danced, and I'm still feeling like parrrrrtay.
The second floor is GREAT, and I'm amazed I didn't know about the existence of FOTES. I love it! Hooray for crab cakes!!!
I absolutely LOVE nights like those and if day afters weren't so full of guilt I'd love to see everybody every single week. I won't be able to list everybody's name in the condition I'm right now... Guys you're sooo nice and entertaining!!! Keep the fun going on!!!!
Kat, your Midas touch to this party was superb. You'll be really missed. Toronto won't be the same!
(Maybe I don't have a hangover because I'm still drunk?) -
Review from Elaine K.
THis was my first Yelp event and it was INCREDIBLE! The mojitos were probably the best that I've ever had and the food was hot (!) and delicious. Best of all, everyone was super nice and geared to party!
I'm sure that there are a lot of bleary-eyed folks at work today, good thing this wasn't on a weekend, or it would have gone all night! -
Review from Janna S.
I can't add much to what's already been written, but I want to thank the Yelp team and especially Kat F for planning this truly spectacular event. The Elite events only keep getting better and I'll be sad to see Kat leave because she's leaving quite a legacy to live up to.
FOTES is an terrific venue and consequently I'm a newly minted mojito devotee. The food and drinks were plentiful and the Yelpers made this GOLD all the way (with glitter to spare)!
I am looking forward to coming back to FOTES to try their menu :-p -

Since I'm not elite enough, I sorta crashed the party at precisely 9pm. I was quite behind in my drunkenness, glitterness and 100-dollar-napkinness. Even so, what a partay! A perfect sendoff for Kat, who will be sorely missed by all us Toronto yelpers.
Since I was sober enough to remember (at least at the beginning), here it goes: Fire On The East Side is a very nice place. The second floor is a really nice and spacious lounge, perfect for parties like this. The drinks were quite good and, although the food was mostly gone when I arrived, it was tasty and spicy. The mini-cupcakes were fantastic!
As always, it was a pleasure to meet the 'leet people and finally see some of you personally.
I'm really excited about the next elite events, even if I come as the semi-permanent +1 buddy/party-crasher guy. See y'all again soon. -
Review from Payam Z.
I'm joining in a bit late to rave about both the amazing bartenders of FOTES, and Kat F, but I really can not say enough in this review.
The one male bartender Devan R was trying to pick up, (I don't remember your name, but I think it shows you did a great job) was particularly quick and made some tasty and potent margaritas!
A dirty martini mixed by another barkeep was probably the filthiest (in a good way...as in super dirty!) martini I've ever had and it succeeded in totally knocked me out!
Long story short, thanks for all the amazing company.
Shout-out to Kat for organizing one hell of a super event. I really don't know how you do it, but you better fly back here for future events!
Shout-outs also go to Devan R, Bijan V, and Devan R for making sure what was to be a mellow night for me, in the end almost wasn't!
On a final note, FOTES is an awesome venue for hosting a party! -
Review from Noel D.
A little late on my review but that's because I was hung over all day yesterday based on the drinks at this event plus even more drinks at my friend's birthday party afterwards.
This was a great event. I was a little confused when getting led through the back and stumbling upon an entire hidden nightclub. Fire On The East Side is a nice little space upstairs. Giant windows overlooking a tree-covered side street off Yonge. Definitely a very relaxing vibe walking in.
In the few minutes I was there I already had a beer in hand and was offered delicious crab cakes right off the bat. I knew it was going to be a good night. I have to say the amount of food was overwhelming! And so delicious as well... Mini burgers! Can't go wrong with an open bar and lots of free food.
The bartenders were amazing. So quick and courteous. I felt at ease immediately when I arrived, and this is good for someone like me who can be socially awkward at times. Starting to get to know some of the Elite members now so these events can only get better!
I loved the $100 bill napkins. We'll miss you, Kat. :( -
Review from Bijan V.
Hot diggity damn, talk about a sweet ass party. Kat I have to say you're a saint for forcing Payam Z. to force me to come!
I'm so glad I made it out to one of the best - if not THE best - Elite Event in Toronto!! The night got out to a shaky start when gold glitter were introduced and smeared onto my face (absolutely involuntarily obviously) but luckily with FOTES being in proximity of the village, it was all quite fitting.
So much delicious food, amazing drinks, perfect service and most importantly the coolest people in town. Kat you couldn't have planned a better final event if you tried!! Thanks again! -
Review from Kelly O.
I know I say this every time, but this was for sure my most favourite Elite event yet!
The fantastic and piping hot food was top notch, and I can't wait to go back to FOTES to cram my face with more of their deliciousness.
The drinks were seriously fabulous! I am truly amazed at the ability of these fantastic bartenders to whip up the most amazing boozy drinks in such massive quantities! And all the while smiling and chatting! And with a garnish! These fab people spared no expense in making this a great party!
The sparkles were a great idea, although I suspect I'll be coming across them for at least a fortnight on my person and in my bed.
Ahhh....good times, good times.
Kat....you will sorely be missed. -

Kat, you certainly gave Toronto Elites one last ass kicking. Wonderful venue, wonderful drinks, wonderful ambience, wonderful gold, and wonderful Kat.
Thanks all the wonderment you've brought us, Kat! You'll be missed. -
Review from Mariko M.
Kudos to Kat F. for organizing another successful event! I also found out that this will be her last event in Toronto, which is a great loss for Toronto and a wonderful addiction to SF. You'll be back, right ??
In spite of attending for a mere thirty minutes [gotta love marking 33 papers for the next day], I was able to reconnect with Elites whom I've met over the months of my Yelp-ing career and enjoy good food'n'drinks. I loved the cute little cheeseburgers and cupcakes. The $100 bills were a good addition to the table. ;] As mentioned by other Yelp-ers, the AC was a lifesaver.
The Mojitos were fab! I've had disastrous Mojitos before so I know that it is possible to completely go wrong when making one. Just last night I was harping about FOTES' drinks to my friends so I will definitely be back. -

Nothing beats walking into a room full of yelpers after a mojito-fest has gone down and the space is shimmering with glitter and gold! Even the Elite afterparties will rock you all night! Great venue, excellent music, Kat F., you will be greatly missed!!
