It took me much longer than it should have to find the front door.  Long day, I guess.  After being greeted by the welcome wagon (western term!), we ran off to greet the rest of the posse.
I'd definitely recommend a trip to Mabel's. They have really good pulled pork and PHENOMENAL brisket. The beans were tasty, but I'm not a huge fan (in general) so you'll have to form your own opinions.
Thanks to the people at Maker's Mark for the tasty cocktails and souvenir glasses! +1!

Yet another amazing yelp event. How do they keep doing it? The Brooklyn events amass an excellent track record in terms of providing yelptastic fun to the elite masses. It keeps me coming back for more.

First off, a wagonful of thanks must be rendered to Susan C for graciously letting me be her +1, otherwise I would have been grimly filing tax returns up in the Bronx. Instead, I had my fill of a rollickin' good time at this triple B (beer, bourbon, BBQ) event.

I loved the space. It was very accommodating with the mix of tables and ample standing room. Perfect for mingling and wading amongst the yelp jungle. The live band added to the ambiance perfectly, their numbers set the mood for a good old fashioned barn dance. The friendly bar staff were quick on the draw whipping up stiff Makers Mark cocktails for the boisterous crowd. My Dr. Pepper and Ginger Ale concoctions made for a rough start the next day.

It was nice to catch up with old yelpers: bears hugs from Wing, talking strategy with my scrabble mafia (Jim U, Susan C, Lisa D and James F), sharing playoff hopes with Jim P, spotting the lovely couple of Jimmy C and Jennifer C, chatting with part of the FREAM team and making out a few familiar and not so familiar faces in the crowd. I'm gonna make it a point to branch out more next time....

The food was crazy good. Tender, delicious brisket, tangy potato salad and smokey collard greens oh my! But those ribs-gifts from  BBQ heaven. I haven't been able to stop thinking about them from my first bite. Gloriously succulent and a tad sweet, I'm ashamed to admit I wandered back after the festivities had ended for a full order. Yes, so good. Thank you Mable's Smokehouse, I'll be back many times over for your excellent food and warm hospitality.

A big tip of my hat to Peter D and the Yelp team for putting together an elite event for the books.

    I'm a little bit country.....

As soon as I entered Mable's smokehouse, the smell of BBQ wafted into my nostrils.  Country music played from the live band at the back of the venue.  They were loud enough to be heard but not so loud as to drown out your ability to hold a conversation.

Walking around, I saw Peter D  and Jimmy C all dressed up in their cowboy outfits and hats.  Images of Broke back Mountain flashed before my mind.  I suddenly felt under dressed for the occasion.  Did I miss the part where we were supposed to dress up for another themed Yelp event?  Then I looked at the other Yelpers and sighed with relief when I confirmed that I was the norm instead of the exception.

I spotted my plus one, Deborah L, by the door waiting for me.  She came all the way from Australia to Yelp in America for 3 months.  She was leaving in a week and I knew she had to experience these amazing events before she was to head home.  I wanted her to spread the word there of how awesome the Yelpers are in NYC. I wanted the Australians to be jealous that they didn't have Yelp there yet.  That was my evil plan. Bwahahaha.

Together, we hunted out every sample of food for the night. I with my longer arms snatched two of everything every time someone with a tray passed by.  Baked beans, pulled pork, collard greens, cole slaw, macro  macaroni and cheese.  This worked great till it came to the ribs.  Oh those delicious ribs.  I keep on seeing them from the corner of my eyes but every time right before it reached us, the ribs were all taken.  After a few futile attempts on my part to snatch some, my plus one disappeared.  Minutes later, she came back with two.   She took advantage of her much smaller size to squeeze between the crowd to get in the front of the kitchen and grabbed them when they came out.  We made an awesome team.

Maker's Mark and Coors was there quenching everyone's thirst.  How was the drinks?  I saw that everyone was enjoying the concoctions being made by the attentive and friendly bar staff.  People were especially happy that Maker's Mark was giving away these neat cups with red flames to everyone that was there early enough to grab them.  How about my drinks?  My.. diet coke... was awesome.  Sigh.  No it wasn't for lent.  It was for the religion of driving safely in a car.  I don't want to hear my passengers praying for dear life while I'm taking them home again.

Leighann F, the Queens community manager was happily snapping away pictures with her tiny Canon S95 throughout the night.  "I am the official photographer for this gathering", she proudly exclaimed.  From the events I've been to over the past year, I have seen Peter D and Jane K play photographer for various events at different times.  Now it was the newest community manager's turn.

Thank you Peter D and Leighann F for setting this event up.  I especially want to thank Peter for letting my other friend join the event 25 minutes before it was over despite the fact that I already had a plus one there. You are the greatest.  Jane K was missed at this event but I was told that she was jet lagged from a flight a night before. Thank you Mable's Smokehouse for hosting us.  There is now another great BBQ place in Brooklyn.

It was nice meeting my friends Lena Y and Ava E in person here for the fist time.  I wished we had more time to chat before both of you had to leave early.  There is always next time.  See everyone at the next event.

Yelpers wearing ten gallon hats, cowboy boots, and plaid. Heavy pours of Maker's Mark in snazzy cups. Dr. Pepper - YEAH! Ample samples of mouth-watering BBQ meats and tasty sides (who knew that cole slaw & collard greens would be some of my favorites). The pleasant wait staff and live band that complimented the event nicely.

The YEE (haw!) at Mable's Smokehouse is my most enjoyed Brooklyn event thus far with all the makings of a thrilling hoedown. The place was packed but not annoyingly so. A perfectly laid out venue to mingle with my favorite Yelpers old & new. I was also reacquainted with an old college friend which made the night that much more special.

After party at Whiskey Brooklyn... 'nuff said.

A big thank you to the staff at Mable's Smokehouse. You shall see me again very soon. To Peter (I'm diggin' the cowboy look!), & the Yelp crew, thanks for continuously churning out these awesome parties. It gives me good reason to leave my sofa/apartment/borough every now and then.

You've made another Yelper with this event, CMs! My +1 left gushing about how "everyone was so nice!" "this place is so awesome!"

We were little ninjas hunting that pulled pork and, man, was it worth it. She's the healthy one (she reminded me that's why I brought her) so I was "forced" not to OD on the creamy mac & cheese and to eat some collard greens w pancetta and creamed corn. Who knew vegetables* could taste good?

The drinks were nice and strong, unlike the band who were the perfect noise level for background music.

Look out for Jenny F., kids. She's got Yelp fever. And we know there ain't no cure.

Whoa, it was totally awesome! It was such a great introduction to Mable's Smokehouse. I don't think I would have found this place if it wasn't for Yelp. Thank you to Mable's for really giving us a great time! Thank you Yelp's Peter Bro Back Mountain D. and Yelp's Leighann Like Rimes F. You guys were great hosts! Much appreciation goes out to the staff! (You can't see it but I'm raising the roof right now... by myself... in the dark...)

    ...sadness ensues

    =)

I really enjoyed the pulled pork! It was my favorite. Each item came out beating the last. I enjoyed the coleslaw when it first came out. Then, I was all, "This potato salad is da bomb diggity yo." After I had the baked  beans, I wept a little. I wiped the tears away with my napkins. I saved the napkins and used them to clean up the cream off my pants from the amazingly juicy pulled pork and prime rib. Get it!? Cause it was SO delicious I creamed my pants! (gasp!) AHHH... you get it... now you get it...

    Gross right?

The live music was great! I definitely hoedowned like I never done hoedowned before. I had my cowboy hat on and my cowgirl Jenny by my side! Yee haw!!... and she was disgusted... She looked at me and shook her head... cause I creamed myself... from the DELICIOUS PULLED PORK and RIBS!!! AHHH!!! YouseewhatIdidthere!?!? Another shout out to the PULLED PORK BABY!!!! HOLLAAAAARATION!!!!!!!

DAMN!!!! I just made these words feel like a PARTAY in your BRAIN! [patting myself on the back] (Hands in the air! Hands in the air! Raising the roof! Cabbage patch! Whoop Whoop!)

This morning as I am sitting in the airport waiting for my delayed flight to board I feel as if I crawled into a bottle of Makers Mark, slathered amazing BBQ all over my body, and then did a striptease down to nothing but a g-string and cowboy hat on! Yee-haw, you know it was a great event when I want to end up naked!

Walking up to the front doors to Mable's I encountered a line of hungry and thirsty fellow Yelpers. A few really dressed for the event with cowboy hats and flannel shirts. Some reminded me of Cowboy Woody from Toy Story. As we entered the door to BBQ heaven the amazing aroma of smoked meats permeated every pore of your body. It was soul lifting to say the least. Actually, Peter D in his Clint Black cowboy hat and jeans made us wish there was a mechanical bull on site to see him ride it!

Mable's is a wonderful BBQ hall. The type that reminds me of the ones I have visited in Texas. Terrific band was playing and added to the honkey tonk feel. The owners, a husband and wife team, were so outgoing and terrific hosts. The staff there was so good about feeding us hungry BBQ starved and Makers Mark buzzed Yelpers. They constantly made the rounds with trays of BBQ and sides, and did it with a smile. Honestly, that was some of the best tasting, and authentic BBQ I have had in a long time. Pulled pork, ribs, mac and cheese, collard greens, slaw, potato salad, baked beans, and brisket were amazing.

Their BBQ sauce is fantastic. I want to pour it all over me and belt out show tunes!

The bartenders worked hard to keep up with all of us Makers Mark and Coors imbibers. Both were fun guys and poured some great drinks. I can't even count the amount of Makers Marks and Doctor Peppers I drank last night. Still feeling funky this morning! Tip your bartenders, folks!

Mable's is a terrific BBQ hall. When you are there it feels like you are transported out of NY. Mad props go to Peter D and Leighann for putting this event together at such a great venue. We had a super fun time there and it was great hanging out with Wing L, Ron C, Maritza, Nydia, Jordan, Rich, Louis, Joolz, Rich, and so many other people I knew and had just met last night. Sorry if I can't remember everyone to list here as my brain is still a bit hurting from the meat coma and Makers Mark overdose!

The pain is such sweet pleasure. Can't wait for the next event!

[Ack, I don't really have time to Yelp this but I consider these event recaps as a thank-you note of sorts. Tim Gunn says hosts should be acknowledged promptly--at the very least within 24 hours of the party. I wonder if I just copy and paste stuff from another event review*, will anyone notice?]

I love a themed party. Thanks, Yelp, for giving me a reason to put on a cowboy hat and boots, and transporting me to a space where people dressed like the cast from "Green Acres."

The venue was fantastic. I had no idea there was such a sprawling down-home BBQ spot in hipster-filled Williamsburg. The crowds kept the joint jumping while the Makers Mark cocktails had enough alcohol to disinfect a saddle after an assless-chaps ride.

Kudos to the Mabel's Smokehouse staff for pumping out the food and drinks. The pulled pork was fall-apart tender while the collard greens were mouthwateringly tangy. The spread was plentiful and substantial enough to soak up the alcohol before I passed out on a squishy stack of Wonder bread slices.

It was great to see old Yelp friends and meet some new ones (Jenny, Carmen, and Andrea, to name a few). Thanks to me for bringing Deanna W. as my +1.

Peter D., you sure know how to throw a fab hoedown.
P.S. Loved the Tim McGraw stetson :)

You say Williamsburgh and I say Bill-burgh,  whichever is your favorite, let's not call the whole thing off, since this destination is starting to grow on me, especially for Brooklyn Elite events.

The food and staff were all great.  The booze washed it down nicely.
And of course it was nice catching up with old friends and new:
Deanna, Susan, Jim U,  James,  Ron, and new friends, Joolie, Liz, Alessa and Deb.

My +1 was impressed by how friendly everyone was, and had a great time.

Thanks Peter and full Yelp team for hosting another winner!

Now I need to get back there and get my own rack of ribs!!!

Yet another glorious Yelp Elite event to shower praise upon! Yelpers braved the chill and came through to throw down at this hoedown! It was great to see everyone and revel in good old country barbecue. And this time was particularly exceptional because the food at Mable's Smokehouse was insanely good!

Oh gosh those juicy ribs full of flavor and spice, the baked beans with hints of bacon, the creamy mac 'n cheese, and the fresh collard greens... heck, even the cole slaw, which I normally do not care for, tasted amazing at Mable's. I saw loaves of Wonder Bread on their shelves and it reminded me of my childhood. Such sweetness.

Y'all I reckon we is gon' have ourselves a new sheriff in BBQ town. Watch yo' back Dinosaur BBQ... Yee-haw! (Mable, you can conquer my frontier any time. So yummy!)

I ask you, why wouldn't I enter into an establishment where Peter D. was wearing a black Urban Cowboy-esque cowboy hat?

-Attentive bartenders mixing strong Maker's Mark concoctions.

-Multiple food samples circulating (I watched Molly, David and Janeen do "meat shots" because they were w/o forks. Classic). Thumbs up to the mac n cheese and cole slaw. I also heard good things about the ribs, pulled pork, etc. (Sorry, you're asking the wrong gal here je suis vegetarienne.)

-Great band at a decent volume, they really complimented the event, rather than overpowered it.

-I'm sure I was the only one who noticed the college football game playing on the screen above the bar: University of Michigan vs. Oklahoma, 1976 Orange Bowl. Granted, I was only six at the time, but I recall my dad being upset that Michigan lost, 14-6. Booo...Sooners.

-Best comment of the evening: "This beef is too big to put in my mouth." (J.B.)

Cool space: open air, communal wood tables, exposed brick, open kitchen area, stage in the back, ample space at the bar. I will surely bring back my Okie friends.

Excellent event! Yay Peter, Leighann, Colleen, and the rest of the yelp staff!

*and thank you to the Oracle for letting me be his +1.

Unfortunately NO ALCOHOL was consumed during this event. In my case it wasn't. See why...

It's good to be back in Williamsburg. Everytime I come here I am amazed with the street art that lines the streets and outside of Mables didn't disappoint. Waiting in line I was snapping pics and uploading the to Instagram (holla at Leighann F!). Once the doors opened it was time to get my BBQ on.

It was good seeing familiar faces and a couple that I see and chat with on here. I then I had to break it to them that I WILL NOT BE DRINKING at this event. I will be completely SOBER because I gave up alcohol for lent. I got a few laughs, but everyone was very supportive. I was sippin' on seltzer and sweet tea all night.

The food was very good. I'm glad that they gave out appetizer (sides) as starters and worked up to the MEAT! The beans and collard greens were great. The slaw was fresh, the mac and cheese was heavenly. The corn not on the cob was good. The potato salad was excellent!

The beef brisket was very good. I was able to grab a piece that had some of the fat. So the beef was extra juicy. The ribs were fresh off the grill and were still hot when I got them, perfectly seasoned and cooked. The winner out of everything was the pulled pork. It was so tender and the sauce made it happen.

I am definitely coming back for the pulled pork! I was talking to the owner and she couldn't drink either since she had a roast in the oven herself. I told her i'l be back for some BBQ and beer and we made it a date.

I got DRUNK OFF OF BBQ!!!

Great seeing all my fellow Yelpers. Wing L, J&J (Jimmy & Jen), Marco & Isabella, Will C, Jim U, Jim P, Cass, Jordan, Phil & Stacy. Special shout goes to my two girls Joolie & Mabel! Also to all the new faces at Yelp. Welcome to the good life!

The after party had some interesting events as well... I don't kiss and tell!

Great job Peter D. for hosting this awesome event and Leighann F for being the events official photographer!

Mac & Cheese, Spare Ribs, Mac & Cheese, Spare Ribs....gifts sent down from the BBQ gods this evening!

The Elite event at Mable's was a success, great BBQ served with ample samples of pork products, cole slaw, potato salad and the best mac & cheese i've had in a while. The comfort food went down nice with a cold can of Coors.

The band kept the theme going without being intrusive and the wood decor of Mable's was perfect for a hoedown...shoutouts to everyone who wore flannel with their cowboy hats!

If you love this kind of food you should consider heading out to Mable's for a meal.

This was my first event as the new king of Brooklyn, there were some haters but with any regime change there will always be some opposition.I promise i'll win you over eventually...

I look forward to meeting more great people along the way like i did tonight with Jimmy C, Jim U and Phil H, who are all pretty awesome and make the events worth attending!

Wanted to first thank Laura A. for graciously inviting me as the guest to this Yelp Elite Event.  Muchas Gracias, senorita! :)

This event was a first of many things for me, since I moved to the big apple 3 months ago:

    1) Finally ventured outside of Manhattan! Laura insisted I bring a passport as we were going to "another country."  Thanks Yelp Elite event for forcing me out of my comfort zone that is Manhattan.

    2) My very first Yelp Elite Event. Even though as a guest, I felt welcome and comfortable meeting a lot of people and just chatting on things that bought us all together in the same room: our love for food!  Thank you! I hope to see you all on future events.

    3) I usually don't wake up thinking, I want BBQ today. But through our samples, I was sold. Maybe i haven't had good BBQ in a while but for the first time, I'd even come back and try their regular portions! Now that's a first for BBQ.  Tender Beef briskets, pulled pork, and ribs? Oh My! Creamy  Mac & Cheese, mixed-well potato salad, and sweet buttery corn? My momma always said to eat your vegetables but I don't ever remember them tasting as good as I sampled. Actually, if I took her advice and the veggies came out like that, I'd be rolling in like an oompa loompa.  The BBQ sauce was a combination of tangy, spicy, burnt goodness!  And the succulent fat juicy rib? As Charlie Sheen would say, "Winning!".

    4) Having met another Wing L. "Oh, you're the other Wing L" or are you really a Wing L? No, my name is actually Bobby but i just decided to call myself that for crap and giggles.  Of course my name is Wing! :) I don't think I've ever met a "Wing" in the US, so that was cool. Yes, I noticed I said my name numerous times in this paragraph; it feels like I'm speaking in 3rd person.

All in all, I had a great time and would like to thank the organizers for such a fun-filled event!

    Eating a pre-snack before the Event: $7
Taking the train to and from Williamsburg: $5
Seeing people eat and talk about food makes me happy.  Having a chance to experience it with good company: Priceless.

This was my first yelp event & I was able to go courtesy of Alessa M (I was her plus one). I had an overall great night can't really go wrong with free bourbon & barbecue!! =)

The samples were good portion sized, my favorites where the brisket, the ribs & the baked beans! I didn't try the greens, cole slaw or the mac & cheese. I'm not big on alcohol but I did try a Makers Mark with Ginger, it was a little strong for me so I passed it on to Ben L, he enjoyed it!

The bartenders where extremely attentive, & very nice.

The band was cool gotta love a good country band! =)

I hope is this my first of many events, I had a great night =)

It was a pleasure meeting tons of yelpers especially Karen B & Mickey M =)

    Dear Pork,
I had a affair last night with Beef Brisket. Don't take it the wrong way, you are still my favorite, but last night when my lips met with Brisket's succulent skin, I forgot about you completely. There, I said it. Please forgive me.
Though I didn't try the mac and cheese, the ribs, potato salad and baked beans were all way above average for BBQ in NYC compared to some overhyped places.
I plan on returning here with my BBQ loving family this summer for a special treat.
Hanging out and seeing all my favorite Yelpers again was great, we came up a few interesting UYE ideas, and hopefully we make them come to light this summer.
P.S.  If I spilled anything on you, rubbed up on you, fell on you, or anything else, I'm very sorry!

I am almost certain that I have aged a few years since last night's event at Mable's Smokehouse.  Or maybe just my liver.  The specialty Makers Marks drinks served were STRONG.

The food did not disappoint, either.  Brisket, cole slaw, potato salad, collard greens, and ribs (which I will awkwardly nosh on while making a futile attempt to mingle) were all fantastic to nibble on.  I felt like I was never left behind on the Web 2.0 SXSW bandwagon of taco trucks and amazing BBQ, because it was brought right to my table!  The live band was great as well and added to the overall ambiance.

What's the point of good food and drink if you're not in good company?  It was fantastic to finally meet up with Regina W., Jared C. and Lisa D. and also catch up with great friends Laura A. and Wing L. (with camera in tow, of course).

And to the fabulous Peter D.: I'm sorry I didn't recognize you at first in the amazingness that was your Western shirt and cowboy hat.  You must have had an awesome trip venturing westward.  Many thanks to you and the rest of the Yelp crew for making this laid-back event a ton of fun!

I recall having great times at the Brooklyn Brewery and the Whiskey Brooklyn, but I never knew that there was a great, chill BBQ spot between the two.  Wow, what a find and what a great idea for a Yelp elite event!

Food was offered up in sample cups, so it was hard to sample a lot of any one menu item but it was a great way to work your way through the entire menu.  Not normally one who likes brisket, I found their brisket to be rather good.  The pulled pork was even better!  The mac and cheese was plenty creamy, but I think it missed something ultimately.  The corn was pretty good too especially considering that it's only March.

For music, we were treated to a live band, and the acoustics were fine.  It made everything festive since they had a coherent sound that carried through the space.

To drink, there was Maker's Mark everywhere!  Reportedly there was Coor's beer too, but I think the cans were just used to mix Maker's Mark cocktails.  At least that is what I imagined anyway.  The bartenders were pretty deft at making Old Fashioneds, so I had a pretty good time.

And the people were fantastic!  It was great to chat with so many old school Yelpers and meet a few new people all the while.  I was able to make the rounds pretty well and got to talk to a lot of people.  I love that about these smaller, more intimate venues.  Fantastic event from conception to celebration!  I now want to go back for some hefty servings of BBQ.  Yum!

Although I didn't get a rib or pulled pork*, I did enjoy the mac and cheese, brisket, potato salad, pork and beans(definitely not Campbell's), and my Makers Mark and Ginger.  Only had one drink, cause like Wing L.** said, it was for the religion of driving safely!

Mabel has the classic BBQ feel and the decor to go with it.  They surely lived up to my BBQ expectations.  The brisket and ribs were DELICIOSO. Smokey goodness!  and the Mac & Cheese was so creamy.  I kept looking for more...  The service was just as great as the food, they were very polite and very attentive.

The band was awesome!  They were the perfect complement to the night.   I got to meet new people and that was a lot of fun...

Always a good time in a room full of enthusiastic eaters and drinkers.
Thank you yelp for yet another fabulous event.

...and remember yall "Don't squat with your spurs on"

Thank god I found the real deal BBQ in Brooklyn! Of course, being that Jeff, one of the owners is from Lawton, Oklahoma, I couldn't be happier and agree more with his definition of delicious BBQ.  I went  there for a Yelp elite event last night and got to sample almost everything. The husband and wife team who own Mable's are awesome! We had a great time chatting with Meghan, who's friendly and adorable, and she even gave me some extra BBQ sauce considering that's how I judge good BBQ.  Her husband, Jeff, then came out to meet me and my two girlfriends after we told her we were Okies ourselves!

    Samples included:
    -pulled pork
-beef brisket - so good and tender, I definitely wanted more
-st louis ribs - the ribs were tasty and the meat fell off the bone
-bbq sauce - on the sweeter side, but still yummy and similar to my love, Head Country
    -baked beans
    -cole slaw
-tator salad - creamy and delicious, this was definitely mayo based
    -collard greens
-mac and cheese - the sauce tasted like Velveeta's shell and cheese, but who doesn't like that?
-fresh corn off the cob - seasoned fantastically, this was spicy and had a kick to it

Can't wait to bring the fam back for dinner.  Hill Country now has some tough competition....!

    Highlights:
-Was in Williamsburg for the first time for a Yelp Elite Event
-Met the beautiful and friendly Leighann F. for the first time
-Maker's Mark with Ginger. That drink was loaded (for my standards).
-The juicy flavorful ribs (so sad that I didn't get a 2nd pc)
-The tasty corn and collard greens (who knews veggies can taste so good)
    -The saucy, sweet pulled pork.
    -Brisket--need I say more?
    -The potato salad
-Smooching and catching up with fellow Yelpers
-Chatting it up with the new Yelpers I met (Wing L.-the "new" one, Cassy S., Nina C. and others)

Had a great time mingling and sampling the yummy food. The live band complimented the event perfectly. Thanks Peter D. and Leighann F. (Ms. Photographer) for putting together another awesome event!

BEST BRISKET EVER....DOUBLE CHECK! MAYBE TRIPLE!

So This was my first even since last year! I was M.I.A. for a bit, was happy to have been invited to this shindig here! I took my best girlie Deb (who already wrote a review, befriend her she's awesome!) and we came on down!

Peter D. once again put together an amazing event. I tried the Brisket (the best) corn, collard greens, pulled pork, potato salad THE WORKS! apparently there was mac and cheese but I never saw it! (makes me kinda sad lol).

I loved the drinks!. Let's see I tried the Marker's Mark with Ginger, and the Dr. Pepper Version both really strong (I liked more than Deb lol) had just enough kick to it. I was happy to see friends I haven't seen in a while, and happy to meet friends I've made already on the site but you know ACTUALLY GIVE THEM A HUG!

Thanks to Michael and Katie you two are adorable! loving you, made the end of the night really fun, and to Ben L. your awesome dude hope I see you again soon! The misses is awesome.

There was a point on my way to this event that it finally occurred to me -- maybe I should live in Williamsburg! I mean, peter has all these events out this way, and a lot of people I know who live out here say it's awesome, but perhaps this sleepy little hamlet* is the place I should make my home once my lease runs out in South Slope.

Places like Mable's make it easy to think about moving here. A bbq join with absolutely delicious brisket and tasty ribs, that also doesn't blanche when I ask for my whiskey neat? I mean, that's a place I need to look into.

Combine with the great band that played Wagon Wheel by Old Crow Medicine Show not once, but twice, and you know you have the kind of place that's going to make me brave the G train out this way.

It was great to see many of favorite Elites, including Lisa A., Claire, Nydia, Joolz, Janeen, Liz, Molly, peter, Matt and many others who make coming to these things so much fun. And thanks to peter, who keeps showing us the good times in his best Urban Cowboy impressions that make hanging out at Yelp events such a good time.

Even if they are in Williamsburg.

    * - It's Williamsburg. There's nothing sleepy about it.

I was there for the food and booze!  This elite event didn't disappoint on that score.

They were not joking with the Maker's Mark cocktails.  My drink was so strong that I just gave up and switched to a beer.  I would have been leaning sideways had I finished it. ;)

The food was great too.  The Mable's Smokehouse staff passed out samples of potato salad, collard greens, brisket, baked beans, ribs and more.  It was all delicious.

In addition, they had a fun band playing and their bathrooms were clean (don't look at me funny, that's important!)

I also got to meet some cool fellow Yelpers (you know who you are).  I also got to say "hi" to Yelp staff I've met before. :) (I'm looking at you Peter D.)

    Thanks for a fun event!

I will just first state that I love meat. Especially when its covered with yummy yummy oooey gooey barbeque sauce! This event at Mable's was just my cup of tea. Or meat.
All the food offerings were tasty, although I wasn't big on the beans. A bit sweet for my liking. The corn, potato salad and coleslaw were all delish, but those ribs were WINNING. Succulent, juicy, all that jazz. I have to go back to get a more regular person sized portion.
Of course the Makers cocktails were awesome and super strong, and the bartenders were friendly.
I met a few fine folks last night as well as running into some old favorites. I had a total blast at this event, and I can't wait for the next one!

Whenever Maker's Mark is on the drink menu, you know it's going to be an epic night (whether this is a good or bad thing is determined by how many drinks you consume). I personally stuck with the Old Fashioned (don't ask me how many I had, just know it was several) but was sad that they ran out of the cool Maker's Mark glasses early on so I didn't get to use one. :(

As far as the food is concerned, the beef brisket was the best! It was amazing and definitely the highlight of my night! The sides were good as well. I definitely want to come eat here sometime.

It was great getting together with Yelpers I haven't seen in a while (Albert, Elaine, Claire, Danny, Phil) and good to finally meet others (Janeen, Jordan).  Another fun night with the BK crew!

My first Elite event and I have to say I am so glad to be a part of Yelp!!!!!
Mable's has some body's grandma tied to the stove crankin' out some literally finger licking good food. (Sides of lips licking and shirt collar if you are like me).
The music was very entertaining an the very cute bartenders were fast and courteous.
My only regret is not wearing spandex and I will tell you why. Spandex would have allowed me to pounce faster. I had a pretty good food scope out spot, but the denim doesn't give as much slowing me down by those all to crucial seconds.
Thanks to my food partna' in crime Ava E for battling the crowd and rescuing the last rib and giving it to me (insert 80's awwwwwwwwww laugh track here) love ya sis!
Love you too Yelp keep up the great work!!!!!!!!

Wait a minute...so you're telling me I get free food and booze just for writing ridiculous reviews with no filter on locations I've been to?  Why did I take so long to sign up for this?!?

My First Yelp! Elite event for this Yelper from the Best Coast, and let me say, I've been missing out.  Not only was the locate great (just a porcupines hiccup away from my apt.), but the Yelp and Mable's crew were nothing short of amazing.

Unfortunately for me, I took the "eat something" reminder from the Yelp! crew a little too seriously and was stuffed before I got to the event.  But from what I hear, a BBQ joint like this in Billiamburg is a welcome addition.  What I didn't have in food I made up for in drinks, and both the Makers & Dr. Pepper and Makers & Ginger Ale were both legne...wait for it...dary!

And thanks to all the great people I met with their suggestions.  I was welcomed into the Elite community with open arms and for that, we thank you.  Let's hope one of those places takes over my "last 24-hours" places to eat.

Great intro for my first Yelp event in Brooklyn!  I know wburg very well, but have never set foot in this sh*t-kicker southern styled saloon.  I thought I was in Texas again!  The Markers Mark drinks were strong or so everyone said, but I only had coors.  Sadly I had to work later in the evening.  :-(

Right around the corner from Brooklyn Bowl and down the street from Hotel Delmano...

    Bring on the beef!

Truth is.... I came late to this event. i was saddened by this truth because I missed out on a lot of the food but made it in time for many drinks.

The good news is that I stayed afterwards and bought other tasty drinks and ate many different items off the menu with my plus 1. The food was great (even though I paid for it) and the drinks were still delicious.

I love yelp elite events where BBQ is involved. Especially Texas style BBQ. I would definitely return and buy more of Mable's delecable smokehouse bbq!

Was it weird that I kept my fork in my pocket the whole time?  The food samples just kept coming out and I didn't have enough hands to hold my fork, the food and my drink.  However I had a prime spot and got a ton of samples.

I would say in order of my favorite to least favorite: ribs, brisket, pulled pork, mac and cheese, beans then coleslaw.  Also, Makers Mark does a lot of donating in NYC, they were a huge sponsor at a fundraiser I went to on the Upper East Side recently but I can't complain!  Had 2 drinks and was happy to attend this event.

Food was really good I am going back for sure with some friends.  Prices weren't that bad for Williamsburg and the band was fun/entertaining.

First I was wait-listed. Then I got in. Story of my life.

The event was a blast. Live bluegrass, man-strength drinks, good crowd, and some damn good barbeque (best were the brisket and pulled pork...OK and the baked beans). We met a lot of really fun people.

Being our first Yelp event, we came to the realization that everyone there enjoyed food at the same over-the-top level we do. Forkfuls of BBQ and "you gotta try this" were tossed around with reckless abandon.

We have found our place in this world. [single tear rolls down cheek]

Are y'all ready for a hoedown?  Mabel's Smokehouse across from Beacon's closet was on the radar since seeing it opening late summer.

All dressed up in a cowboy hat and jeans- Peter D. greeted us at the door where Mabel's was decked out for our visit.

Smokey smelling and country music made for a great party.  Drnks with Maker's Mark and Coors were heartily imbibed.  Franny was waiting on the food which was worth the wait.
Me, Candace and Erica screamed when each tasting came:

Fatty brisket- smoked for 12-15 hours was hot and orgasmic
    Lovely ribs
    Smoky pulled pork
Corn off the cob with a little kick
Mustardy potato salad- simple and delicious
    Creamy mac
    Smoky collards
Beans with onions were sweet and savory

The band was was great with full set and harmonica added to the flava of the event.  The staff could not be more accomodaing.  Awesomely smokin' hot event!

I woke up today at 4:30 in the morning for work in pain but with sweet dreams of this wonderful Yelp event at Mable's. So what if I had Maker's coming out my pores this morning? My stomach was smiling even if my head was throbbing.

Delicious food, generously stiff and yummy drinks, fantastic company and awesome live music made for a perfect night. I love that this place is cafeteria style. It felt very midwest- Kansas City (with dry rub ribs?) with Wonder Bread on the side. Mmmm..

I was thrilled about the ribs but the brisket drew tears from my eyes. I was savoring every tender bit of juicy happiness. I kinda wanted to stay longer and order a whole order just to myself since the few bites I got were such a tease. No joke, (hope my mom's not reading this) but this was the best brisket EVER. Ever ever? Ever.

Thanks Yelp for another terrific event!

This was a very good yelp event! Props to Yelp BK staff.  The drinks were delicious and stiff and the food was banging good bbq - though yelpers can be equated to vultures and pretty much you could barely grab food without what seemed like 100 people cutting before you and grabbing your rib.  Didn't matter if you were woman or child.

Regardless - had a great time!

Headed to Billy-B for quite the glorious event.

Brought Chris I. over for a taste of BK and 1337.

Nice crowd, both in quality and quantity.

The food was mostly OK. Mac 'n Cheese... nothing special. Corn... kinda watery. Beef Brisket... meh. Didn't have a chance to try the ribs. But the pulled pork... GLORIOUS - perhaps the best pulled pork I've ever had.

As for the drinks, they were stiff and delicious. Maker's Mark... you have found a new fan of the Old Fashioned.

Thank you, Yelp BK for a great time.

Mable's, if I ever come back, it will be for the pulled pork.
