Another one, another one, another one please!

After spending an amazing 2 hours drinking 6 different types of wine, munching on delicious appetizers, touring the winery, and photo-boothing it up, I made the drunken stumble 2 blocks to my home with my +1 to drink more wine...

Needless to say, woke up at 4 am, lights on in my room, the two of us passed out in our attire on top of my bed, in delightful boozey comas.

    It was totally worth it.

Can't wait to go back to the winery, to one day have enough cash to make my own wine there, and to continue kicking it with other fellow Eliters.

    "Face It, Hipsters Are Everywhere"

Williamsburg, home of the trust fund and land of the hipsters. For serious. I saw more beards wearing flannel last night than I did that one time I spent the night in the Brawny Paper Towel warehouse. (Long story.)

Even the band was bearded and playing instruments like the broom-stick-taped-to-a-bucket-with-a-chord-attache d. I know, I know. I don't want to conform either, but I've got to admit, I quite liked their hit single "This Sounds Better On Vinyl".

The bathroom stalls were almost as skinny as my jeans, and the wine and beer flowed like the tears I shed after hearing that William Fitzsimmons got a record deal. That is to say: in a multitude and freely. (Way to be mainstream, doucheface!)

The venue itself is quite neat. A blend of modern design with traditional details makes for a timeless decor. I would love to swim through the sea of hipsters in order to visit the Brooklyn Winery in the future; a little piece of home for this California Wine Country boy.

When I saw the info go up for this event, my first thought was "Oh.... I must go".  After all, I am an under educated and unsophisticated Yelper when it comes to wine and could use some lessons.   So... did I learn anything last night?  Yeah.  Lots.  But most of them weren't about the wine.

    The things I've learned:

    - Lots of Yelpers could fit into a small place with two floors.  Even though there is more breathing space upstairs, Yelpers will happily bump uglies in in a much more packed 1st level because that is where all the wines and beers were.

    - It's amazing how many friends I could lose in this event.  One moment they were there and another moment they weren't.  I lost sight of Joclyn L, Neline S, Tassamai S, Susan C, Jocy C, Vivian H, James A, Laura A, Sarah W  and Deanna W among others after a brief hello and hug, never to be seen again for the rest of the night at Brooklyn Winery.  Damn... that is a lot of lost friends in one night.

    - Adding a photo booth from Magnolia Photo Booth to a already great event makes it even better somehow.  I think all Yelp events should have this from now on. Props to them for having props ready to be used.

    - Playing a game of "let's see how many people could fit in a photo booth?" is so fun.  Hey, who's ass is that on my lap?  It better not be yours Juan.

    -  The live band at the event showed me you could become a band with anything.  Time to look for brooms, mops, buckets, and such.  Now if only I could find talent for myself as easily as I could find and create musical instruments.

    - I somehow unwittingly became the official photographer for the Cassie sandwich.

    - During the wine tour, I found out New York City now have it's own place to make your own wine. I do mean your own wine.  Crush your own, ferment your own, label your own, for a reasonable $5,700 for 300 bottles. Wing wine for every one of my Yelp friends.... someday.  Do I get to step on the grapes with my bare feet like the good old days?

    - There are so many types of wines.  So much to learn.  In fact too much for just a two hour Yelp event.  Could we have a follow up Yelp event here so that I could further my education?  I swear it's not an excuse to drink more.  Peter D, you reading this?  Pretty please?  I heard a good education is one of the most important things in life.

Thanks Brooklyn Winery for hosting us.  A big thank you to one of the owners, Brian, for giving us a tour of the place.  Thank you Jane K, Peter D, and Leighann F for setting this up and hosting us now slightly more sophisticated Yelpers.  It was great seeing all three of you again and it was a great time as always.

See you all at the next event.

    ************************************************** *************

P.S.  The cramming in the photo booth was a great practice run for later on in the night when about 6 people each piled into four cars to reach Traif for the after party/dinner.  Traif was wonderful for fitting a little more than 20 of us on such a short notice.

(Not really. It's just an attention getting headline to try to get you to read the rest of this review. Think NY Post)

i swore off reviewing these events.
    What's the point ?
I always have a good time, it seemed somewhat repetitive.
I could probably  find small things to nitpick about but I'm not that anal.
But Honestly ( http://www.youtube.com... ) if you can't  have fun with cool people, free food and booze well, .... you're an asshole (nothing personal, but you are).

So why write a review ?

Because the venue was fucking fantastic*. I loved the dark woody design, the sense of space, the bartenders, everything really.

Coat-racks**, complimentary corkscrews, photo booths, swinging band, ample food, winery tours, hard cider, 99% of my favorite yelpers and excellent wine ( I personally loved the Sangiovese).

What didn't this event have ?

    Enough time.

Wonderful job Pete, Jane et all.
Brooklyn Winery = I  will see you again.

    * --- as close as i get to alliteration
**-- great in theory.  Watching inebriated people try to find their coats  is almost entertaining.

Another successful elite event in Brooklyn, what can I say!

I had an inkling the night was gonna be good when I was handed a complimentary corkscrew wine opener upon checking in. You see, I've been too cheap to buy one since losing my beloved from my ole' serving days so yelp schwag rules.

The wine was drinkable and flowing: here, there and everywhere. I had to take a breather in between glasses. Thankfully, the original sin cider  provided a much needed reprieve towards the end of the night. ;) Good service at the bar, the staff were on their toes throughout the night. Snacks provided by Radish were tasty, delicious fall flavors. The band kept the place a hopin' and the photo booth on the upper level was a source of amusement for many including yours truly. Loved the viking horns!

I left in a blissful state such that I did not mind the onslaught of heavy rain when I departed.

Nice to catch up with a few old friends and meet some new ones as well.

Hats off to Brooklyn Winery and the yelp crew for throwing a great party!

Me and My plus 1( Her first time )
Met up Exactly at 7 PM in the corner of North 8th Street and Driggs.
The line was outside of the place, so there's NO excuse you can't find this place. Waited about 12 minutes to get in.

The convo between my friend and I:
Me :  Thanks for coming out
Her:  Sure, I am happy to come and have some fun with you.  How should I behave tonight?
Me:  O_o      Just be yourself, don't worry, Yelpers don't bite!, They are the coolest people and they won't judge you.
Her:  Alright,  but please tell me when something's wrong ok?
    Me: Alright.

At the door, Miss Leighann andd Miss Jane taking attendance.  Then they gave me a nice WINE OPENER CORKSCREW with their "BROOKLYN WINERY" logo in it.  YEY!

First things first, GRAB a glass of wine! (they have Red and White available). Each section were described the type of wine.

Then I took a tour around the place, main floor is pretty big with long tables, second floor was a bit small, with wine barrel all over the place to use it as a table.  Peter D. was all over the place greeting everyone and holding his drink and I waved at him.

I took a glance and was a PHOTOBOOTH!!!!!!!
HELLS YEAH!, The line was short so took advantage of that!. (Then took another one at the end of the event).

I give MINUS one star because:
    Too crowded, Not enough ventilation.
The mini bites were either cold, or Soggy (BLEH!).

4 Stars for A Great Event location, Great Yelpers (Sorry I couldn't talk to everyone, i was all over the place, please don't hate me).
    - Photobooth (Awesomeness)
    - Wine tasting (GULP)
    - Wine tour (every 30 minutes)
    - Mingling (Yadda Yadda Yadda)

    Old Yerpers:
Isabella, Elle, Vivian, James, Jamel, Juan, Wing, Will, Jenn L, Rachel, Cassy, Cassandra, JRo, mabel, Britton, Talia, Rich, Radford, Amy, Coty and her hubby, Natasha and Jimmy, Cara, Laura, Sarah.

    NEW YELPERS!:
Tiffany (welcome to NY!), Dee (new Yelper), My plus 1 KAYA, Michael (nice to meet you in person), Michelle, Isabella's friend (sorry forgot your name, sigh..), and I think 5 other yelpers who I don't really remember because by the time i had my 4th glass of wine, I was all over the place!.

Thank you Peter D., Jane K. and Leighann F. For an awesome event.  I'm soo coming back here again!.

Had a last minute change of heart to go to this event when I saw on Facebook Lisa D. said she had an extra plus one (I didn't originally RSVP). Since my boyfriend was going and I knew a lot of my friends would be there, I grabbed it.  Thanks Lisa D.!  I am so glad I went!  This was my first Elite event in Brooklyn since January and I was reminded of how much fun these things are.  Seeing old friends and meeting a few folks I knew about online in person was great.

The space was really nice and I was able to move around freely and mingle.  I also really loved the photo booth!  So cool!  The staff at Brooklyn Winery was also really friendly and nice. I also briefly went on the winery tour.  The only gripe I have (yes there is but one)  is that there were no non-alcoholic offerings like soda or juice or something.  They had some tap water but it would be nice to have some other type of refreshments for those of us who are laying off the sauce.  I also wasn't a fan of the finger foods provided by Radish either.  Despite this, I still had a wonderful time chatting up my old buddies and getting acquainted with some new people as well.  Thanks for the great party!  I am looking forward to making myself less scarce in the future and attending more events!

    What james f. said.

Okay, fine. I'll write something too.

What a cool space!! I'd been wanting to come here for awhile now, so I'm glad I got in with my lovely +1, my fellow meerkat, Coo.

I had a date with Petite Syrah, and man, was it ever good...maybe too many glasses too good. Loved the band and a "hell yes!" for the coat check.

Can we have all our BK events here?

Photo booth was great...took lots of pictures.

Was drinking wine.  Then drunk cider.

Inadvertently helped one yelper stalk another.  Dude, get a clue.

Learned about another Yelper's crazy stalker.  While on line...took me a while to shake that duck from the stray bullet or pen knife assailant feeling that I had.

I learned that some boobies just look way bigger on Yelp.

Jane and I played Romper Room.  We did not however, Romp in any Room.  Sorry to disappoint you.  Ok, who am I kidding...sorry to disappoint me.

There was a girl that looked like Sarah Palin.  I think as the night went on, I started to think she was Sarah Palin.  I stayed out of her way.

Someone touched my butt a couple of times.

At some point, I jokingly said I would take someone's lunch box.  I reached for it a couple of times.  She became a football player guarding the ball.  I was joking, she, I realized, was about to take me out.  I got out of there before she tried to kick the field goal if you know what I mean.

Is it safe to call home made Wine MoonWine?

I didn't really touch the food, but the dessert was good.  Really good.  It was served on a spoon.  It was.......a butter scotch pudding.  It was great.  It had some like cookie on top.  I inhaled the crumbed cookie by accident and almost choked.  I recovered and it was good.  Another yelper pointed out the awkwardly sexual way some women decided to remove the pudding from the spoon.  Good Job all.

    I made it home.

    I made it home.

Thank god almighty, I made it home.

All you can eat crostini and all you can drink wine in two hours? Even the Olive Garden doesn't have a deal this good.

You know what else this event had that the Olive Garden doesn't?
    - Good Italian food
    - Zit-free servers who know what they're doing
    - Lovely wine-themed decor with nary a raffia Chianti bottle
    - An excellent live band
    - Local Yelpers in attendance (no tourists, yay!)
    - Self-service coat check
    - A photo booth with an assortment of props rivaled only by Carrot Top's tickle trunk
    - Souvenir corkscrews and other SWAG
    - An awesome host to take reservations and deal with diner complaints

Thanks, Peter D., Jane K. and Leighann F.!
I'd take you and your events over free salad and bread sticks, any day. :)

When I first heard that the latest Brooklyn event was going to be held at a winery, I may have briefly entertained the visual of Yelpers squishing around barefoot like Lucille Ball in Italy (http://www.youtube.com...). And that reverie was of course promptly interrupted by the famous #FAIL video of the reporter falling while squishing grapes (http://www.youtube.com...). Too funny.

This event was an absolute fun-fest. I've always wanted to learn more about wine (actually.. I still want to learn more), so sampling the different wines was really quite pleasing since Brooklyn Winery offered a wide variety. They even hosted tours of their facility and explained more into how they make the wine. Super fun. By the end of the night, I ended up gravitating back to the Original Sin apple cider - a personal favorite. Assorted samples of food were available for tasting, and I especially enjoyed the butterscotch pudding.

It was an absolute blast taking advantage of the Magnolia Photo Booth Co.'s cute booths. I was especially happy to learn that all of the photos would be available online since we took untold amounts of group photos and I certainly didn't steal them all.

All in all, this event was crowded, but it was probably one of my favorites. I re-connected with loads of friends, met a couple people in person (finally!), and ended up post-eating/partying with tons of Yelpers.

Thank you Peter, Jane, Leighann, and team!

I definitely missed many elite events this year, but I am glad I didn't miss out on this one!  It was held at a winery, so I was predisposed to liking this event already.  Okay, so it was an "urban winery", so I wasn't exactly traipsing through the vineyards and smelling the roses at the end of a row of grapes.  What I was doing was meeting many old friends, making new friends, and downing an unhealthy amount of wine, and I was pretty happy about that.

The wine was ever plentiful.  This is the first event I've been to where the drinks were poured in advance of demand.  Literally at any moment, there were easily a 100 glasses of wine ready for the taking.  Quite simply, the Brooklyn Winery stared down a line of 200+ people, many of whom can drink handily, and didn't blink.  There was Chardonnay, Petite Syrah, Merlot, and Sangiovese which pretty much guaranteed that everyone was going to have at least 4 pours of wine.  They additionally had beer and cider, but nothing non-alcholic.  Nothing!  I asked for a ginger ale for my teetotaling girlfriend, and I was informed that they did not have soda and that the only thing she would be able to drink was water.  That was disappointing and a rare miss for the evening.

The music was loud and prominent.  It reminded me instantly of being in New Orleans during Mardi Gras.  They had plenty of energy and never let up all night.  They were so loud in fact, I couldn't hear the guy leading the tour on the other side of the building.  It was just as well though, as I cut out early from that one.  He kind of lost me when he said that they do not have any actual vineyards.

The photobooth was a wonderful idea!  I had a great time snapping hilarious pics with my girlfriend, and fortunately we did that early enough, as a huge line formed not too long afterwards.

The free schwag was much appreciated as well, and I was pleased that Brooklyn Winery got in on the giving too!  Yay, more lip balm and yay, another wine bottle opener for my collection.

I left the event in rare form, graciously hugging my friends, waxing poetic in French, and grateful for a joyous evening among kindred spirits.  Bien fait!

Brooklyn Winery be marked down as probably one of the better Yelp parties of 2010. It was an alcoholic Disneyland of epic proportions: drunken photobooth, drunken wine tour, and oh yeah, all the petit syrah, merlot, sangiovese, chardonnay, and chardonnay/gewurztraminer (??) you could drink. There was so much booze floating around, I swore it was a restaurant industry party.

It was apparently obvious that Brooklyn Winery spend a lot of money for this event: there was a New Orleans style jazz band and everyone in front-of-house manning the bar so that all of that precious booze kept flowing for all the Yelpers and Yelper-groupies. Good job, BK Winery.
However, my only criticism is that the house wine offered (not made by Brooklyn Winery as has been pointed out to me by several people) was pretty unpalatable:  my sangiovese should not taste liked a heavily oaked Chardonnay, the Merlot like the funky backwash of Bordeaux's  Right Bank, and the Petit Syrah like the $5.99 special at Trader Joes.

At this point, I'm not going to insert a random shout-out to a random Yelper or an inane fictional conversation between myself and another drunk Yelper, but thank you Leighann, Peter D., and Jane K. (sincerely, not ingratiatingly in the hope of getting invited on another event) for putting on a really good fucking Tuesday night party.

    That was the shit.

    Props: The Photobooth.
Slops: The idiot on the tour with all the nametags. The owner was staring darts at you during the entire tour for all your stupid questions, and so was I.

    I love Yelp.

A BIG word up to Peter & Jane for scouting out this location and organizing the event. I also love you guys too. Before this gets scary let me stop.

BK Winery is easy to access via public and personal transportation. The L train is 1-2 blocks away and the Williamsburg Bridge is 10 minutes near with plenty of parking on and/or around N 8th.

The line was long (*size queen alert*) but moved fairly quickly. Leighann and Jane were handing out complimentary wine/beer openers upon entering! You can never have enough of those..or wine/beer for that matter.

The layout of the venue was designed well. I particularly enjoyed the little nook upstairs in the corner where you could open a window and get some fresh air while staring at the neighbors across the street getting undressed.

The wine and beer tasted supremo. Both Cider ales were good...so good that you could pour some in a cup and give it to the aggressive/boisterous child in class to calm his/her ass down. But, the BK lager is ALL for me.

The Merlot was also really smooth and had a soft finish. Unfortunately, that's the only wine I tasted but I'm definitely, definitely, definitely, surely coming back here with friends to taste more vino.

The wine tour was informative, even for the tour guide who was notified by Vivian H. that the group was packed with Asians then proceeded to burst into laughter along with the group. That's when you know everyone's having a good time. Luckily, no one was hurt pre, during, or post tour. We even had some QA from Will C. and Vivian as they took turns making sure the oak barrels did indeed smell like oak.

Oh, and the photo booth pics? Genius. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

    This is my 300th Review!!!!!!

I was saving this spot for something really memorable. This was perfect timing too. This was an awesome event as usual. As a Elite Yelper you have to know to get to the venue before it starts, cause after a minute you'll see a sea of people waiting to get in.

Upon waiting in line I saw a few familiar faces and there were a lot of new people in line. I thought it was best ti mingle with them inside where it's warm and we have a drink in hand. Once my plus one and I made it in, gave them my name. (of course saying "Hey" to Ms Jane K.) My plus one and I was handed a really nice wine opener with Brooklyn Winery engraved on it. What an awesome gift! Very original, since we are in a winery...

After grabbing a glass of Chardonnay and grabbing a delicious piece of flatbread with cheese and pomegranate. It was time to go around and mingle with some people. I made my way upstairs where there was a whole other area in which food and Yelp goodies where spread out everywhere. It was really less crowded upstairs in the beginning than down near the bar.  What caught my eye was the Photo Booth!!!

I'm a sucker for Photo Booths. I think it's one of the best inventions. Since you can share random moments and capture them. I had about 6 rounds in the photo booth. Meredith, who was running the photo booth already knew me and told me, "i'm keeping my own you buddy!" In a joking way of course. By the end of the night we became friends and actually took a photo together.

I got a bit tipsy that night night. I was mainly running on Original Sin Cider.  About 7 or 8 bottles down and a few glasses of wine, I was feeling it real good!

It was great finally meeting Jim P, seeing Wing L, Will C, Jen L, Rich B, Radford T, Isabella W, Laura A, Jacklyn L (it's been a while!), Jose G and meeting Molly C. If I forgot some of you.. I had one too many Original Sin Ciders....

Thanks to Peter D. & Jane K. for throwing an AWESOME event!

Two thumbs up for Peter D and his Yelp crew from setting this one up.

This time around it seems like everything was set right, the place, the people and the booze.

Free wine, and apple ciders for everyone and they done seem to stop coming. Photo booth and wine, lots of yelper's and wine, was it me or Jane K is looking better every day + more wine. A tour of the facilities and the wine making process made it better. BK is becoming the next Manhathan with places like this. When i get 5g's to spare i will go and make my own wine.

I wish this event had lasted longer. (That's partially my and Danny P.'s fault, though; we were at another bar first.) There were so many things I really liked about it: a band with an upright bass (which was really a bucket with a broom handle an a large string), wine, Original Sin cider, a photo booth. And there were so many things I didn't get to partake in that would convince me to come back: candle-lit couch areas for lounging, an actual tour of the winery, varietals other than the petit syrah that I tried.

I also think Brooklyn Winery knew what they were getting into when Yelp came here. They had a coat rack, which was much nicer than trying to find your coat from the bottom of the pile after drinking. They had the wine set out so you could whisk by (okay, politely push your way up) the bar and keep moving (through the dense sea of lovely Yelpers). The food was served in large quantities so they didn't run out as soon as the platter left the station. (Well, that's my assumption. I only got to try the dessert spoon, which was really delightful.)

    Pants.

Special thanks to Brooklyn Winery for the really awesome wine bottle opener, free tour, as well as the really awesome Sangiovese.  My +1 and I will definitely be back at a later time.

"Why are the following in my purse: a corkscrew, a Yelp beer koozie, and photos of me with a viking hat?"

Another amazing Elite event! It was an oenophile's paradise once we checked in - glasses of Petite Syrah, Chardonnay, and Merlot were waiting for us at the bar. I stuck with a very floral Sangovese most of the night and maybe I stuck with it a little too much, judging by my lingering headache. The small bites, especially the squash skewers, were delicious.

After a few glasses of wine, it was time to take it to the photobooth to immortalize how wined up we were. I wish I could wear a Viking Hat all of the time.

It was great to catch up with friends and meet some new faces.  My +1, a Yelp newbie, now understands the importance of typing away!

Peter, Jane, and the rest of the Yelp crew - you did a fantastic job!

Hi!  I am the elusive Coty S.   I will sneak into your event, take stuff, drag my husband around, and disappear without you ever knowing it.  MWAAAH!

Anyways, it was totally my fault.  I came to the event without eating dinner beforehand after a hard day of work.  I was starving and frantically seeking food with my one track mind.  Two glasses of wine and some cold horderves later, I made my way back out pressing through the mosh pit on the bottom floor, to then disappear into the darkness.  Mosh pits are nothing new to me, I was raised to mosh.  However, this pit was fairly brutal because it was full of New Yorkers who mosh on the L train every morning.

I did not want to wait in the photo booth line, but there was no bathroom line at all.  And the bathrooms at this place are really nice.

The band was awesome because they did not have microphones, however you could still hear them over the crowd.  It was very impressive.

At Oasis, I ordered a week's worth of food, and attempted to eat it all in one sitting.  I saw at least five Yelpers at Saints Alp Teahouse afterwards.

Loved the BK Winery! I wish I had gone on one of the winery tours but I was too busy drinking the Petit Syrah (and wasn't sure if that was a dorky thing to do?) Oh well - a reason to go back. It was a great space, and the staff was great. I especially loved how they handled the no-more-wine-glasses situation. Super cool. Great timing too since I'm just starting to think about Xmas gifts for a wine-loving family :)

Luckily the rain held off until I was inside, but I was nervous waiting outside...

The music was great, the food was great, the wine was great. What more could you want? Oh a photo booth! Great as well. And friends! Great night.

Another awesome event thanks to Peter D, Jane K and Leighann F. Awesome seeing everyone!.

Lots of wine and beer? I'm there.
    Photobooth? jackpot
    Lots of space? woohoo
Sneaking off to do naughty things in the barrel room during the tour? .....
I'm just kidding! (or am i?)

I'm taking off 1 star because I wasn't a fan of the fooding :( the flatbread was tough, the panzarella was an epic debate for about 45 minutes and the bruschetta was too "cumin"-y.

    Otherwise, awesome event.

And lots of Yelp Paraphenalia for me to pocket. Actually the YelpStick is pretty awesome. I see you guys saw my thread in the Talk forums haha. Loved the Yelp-Libs on the napkin (though I wish that I didnt accidentally touch someones spit when i picked one up to investigate.) ... Perhaps Yelp Antibacterial keychains next? Yeah? Yeah? awesome.

"I don't care how you hold your wine glass; this is an urban winery.  Just enjoy yourself and thanks for coming!"

When Brian said that on the wine tour I knew then what I had to do - continue holding my wine glass wrong and taste as many types of wine as I could before my +1 could get too concerned.  Good thing the app's from Radish were provided to absorb some of the alcohol for the lushes like me.

Thanks Peter D #1 for chatting it up on line outside with me; you're still pretty popular to me.

Thank you Rich W. for following up with me on my job thread!  Goes to show you that Yelpers actually read what's posted.

Thank you Peter D#2* and Jane K for a wonderful time!  The turnout was really positive and fun!  The photo booth idea will heavily be considered for my wedding; I like to plan in advance.

The new yelpstick has hemp oil as the main inactive ingredient and is tangerine flavor - previously it was castor oil/passionfruit. Five stars for that! Also the can holder, and wrist sweat bands were well received. And let's not forget the mints, where the mint is a little yelp logo, and not the logo of some other company that went belly-up and so they got a huge discount on them, or swiped them from a dumpster. Yeah Yelp had their own mint dies made. Good to know they do not cut corners in this day and age.

That was also evident in the yummy snacks they had catered by Radish, which made me regret having eaten. The wine tour was short and sweet.

Wines ranged from good (Petite Shirah) to excellent (Sangiovese). The bartenders and assistants worked fast and effieciently to make sure there were always some full glasses lined up, so I showed re$pect.

The lower level was a bit crowded (and the band, while entertaining, was too loud for conversation), but working my way around was easy, and the bar was not blocked off. Good manners were had by all! The upper level was roomier. I did manage to run into some familiar faces, which capped off the night perfectly.

I'd be interested in getting some friends together and making a batch of wine. Absolutely though, I would organize a 'night to wine' - hah get it?! My dry and full biodied wit is charming after a couple of glasses.

Bravo, Peter and Jane, we should all have toasted you for your consistent efforts. I did get toasted though; does that count?

This is my first Yelp event that I got in on my own and not as a +1.  I was coming from a funeral of a distant cousin before this event.   Rich W made the comment that I looked like I was going clubbing (looks of confusion  because I'm not the clubbing type), but I took it as a compliment.

As I walked in I was welcomed by two beautiful women.   One who I later found out to be the Queens head honcha, and Jane K.  Jane looked pretty cute that night and made me so nervous that I couldn't take my name tag off that waxy paper.  She helped me and I smiled and was speechless.

It was one of those days where I really needed alcohol.  I've been pretty good doing my yoga and staying healthy, but with all the things going on and the holidays coming up Brooklyn Winery was a really good way to get back on the sauce.   I think I tried every wine and the Gewürztraminer/Chardonnay turned out to be my favorite.   I was there on the early side and was able to snag one of those retro Yelp lunchboxes.  This lunchbox really brings me back to my childhood.  I will definitely not give this to my niece.

I only had a short time and was able to finally meet Helena H, Tiffany W, Radford T, and Rich L.    I was able to get in on the wine tour  It was interesting that this place does custom  wines for $5,700 a barrel..300 bottles a barrel making that about $19 a bottle.  I was a math major but alcohol always makes me do the math faster.

As always a very high quality event...Wine, Yelpers, and Song and my retro lunchbox!

Thanks to the organizers!   You definitely know how to organize a fun event!

I was a bad girl last night at the Brooklyn Winery.  I wore giant glasses, inhaled wine, and got my picture taken one too many times by both the on site photographer and the photobooth -- I had two pictures taken in there.  The photo booth was especially cool and I LOVED that they had a props bucket where I could snag a fake mustache.

As for the wines, the sangioveses was the total winner.  Beautiful floral smell.  Drank A LOT of those... hehehehe.

Once again Yelp, I heart you. Hard.

    Wait... wha?

Short line, mostly because my esteemed guest was there early so that I came waltzing in right when we were able to get in. ( Sorry people behind us!)

Awesome wine ( my favorite was the Petite Sirah though their Merlot was pretty damn fine as well.)

Music: Such great and lively music - I was particularly intrigued by the one playing what appeared to be a stick with string. Literally.

Sweet Yelp swag: I adore my Yelp lunchbox with, wait... what's that Robin? A thermos is inside?! Awesome!  Yelp mints, Yelp stick, Yelp nail file, Yelp armband - excellent!

Food from Radish was pretty tasty, though I will have to agree with my fellow Yelpers - it was a bit cold, tough to chew.

Photobooth: Who DOESN'T love a photobooth? And with props next to it? Score!

I sadly did not go on the tour of the winery since I was too busy drinking their excellent wine.

It was so great to meet Jane and Peter - thank you so much for the awesome event!  I purposely switched my day to work so that I could come here - definitely worth it!

Can't wait to come back for the next one!

I had never seen a line so long to get into this event, I knew the masses were here for something good!

I was very excited about this event, it was the first Elite event for newly inducted best friend Louis P, and I knew he was gonna like it.

The band kicked ass, it was so cool to watch and listen to them, they matched the atmosphere and vibe of the place %100. I was hootin and hollering for them all night.

I had a great time seeing everyone again, I'm glad there are so many nice Yelpers in this world! The smile never left my face, even though I barely know most of these friends, they all have the kind of personality and characteristic I like alot. Something about publicity and trust go hand in hand. If you are gonna write about it you like to share. Good people. Good event last night.

I have a wine press my grandfather left behind, anyone wanna help me crank it up?

To me, it seemed out of this world crazy good to have a winery in Brooklyn, without a vineyard.  Meeting David and the other partners/owners of Brooklyn winery was simply inspiring because they just went after what they were passionate about. And what do you do when someone does something they are passionate about? You support them! So, go and check out Brooklyn Winery and celebrate these friends who are doing what they are passionate about.

We toured the premises, saw the de-stemmer, presser, the oak barrels, learned that they source their grapes from all over including the Finger Lakes Region of New York. They also compost the stems of the grapes afterward. Of course, we tasted the wine - gewurtztraminer, syrah, and sangiovese;  I am a huge fan of the syrah!  I asked if I can slap my own label on the wines and they said totally! How great is that! There were also hors d'ouevres served by Radish which were all very tasty and comprised of seasonal items like cranberries and apple in savory applications, my favorite of which is with pork. Yeah, yeah, yeah, you can tell I'm a porker. It was my friend's first Yelp event and he was impressed enough to want to sign up with Yelp and write all those reviews of his East Village nabe. :-)

It was a great night to meet other Yelpers like Elle P., Melody as well as see others again like Radford.  There was a photo booth but the line was so long and there were fun Yelp items like a lunch box but I didn't get one and wassimply  too happy with the wine that I didn't get to wrestle away a lunch box from the others who were toting them around. Jane K. and Leigh Ann were working hard, greeting everyone as they entered and of course I couldn't let the night end without saying hi and thanks to them and to Peter D. for another fantastic Yelp event.

Yes! This event was freaking awesome!

Thank you NYC Yelp!  Thanks Peter D and Jane K.  You guys really rock, and make me proud to be a walking Yelp advertisement.

The wine here was excellent. Appetizers were delish, and the company was great.  In a stroke of irony, I pigged out on the pork with apple chutney appetizer.  For a moment, I thought it was turkey since it was kinda close to Thanksgiving, but, nah, it wasnt.   It was really good though.

My favorite wine was the Sirah (I'm used to it being spelled syrah). It paired well with the appetizers.  They had other wines, and Brooklyn beers too.

My buddy and I were lucky enough to be the last group to be given a tour of the factory/store.  John S., one of the owners, gave us the last tour.  I learned how they actually used actual grapes and press them in BK.  I've been to other "make your own MD 20/20" places before where they just have bagged grape juice and you add your own yeast.   This place is the real deal, and deserves to be called a winery!

Thank you so much Brooklyn Winery!  If I know anyone getting married, I'll be sure to tell them to make their own wine at Brooklyn Winery and slap their own commemorative label on it to remember their special day.

I need to stop coming to these things late, especially since each one gets better and better.

Usually I'm a beer/ liquor kind of girl, through I'm sure thats a product of all the $5 beer and shot specials around my part of town, that, and my friends as of late have a goal of trying to buy every single 4 loko off the shelves before they're officially forced to take them down. However I do have my wino moments, and that Sangiovese tonight made me consider stocking up the wine bottles right next to my loko cans.

I'm really glad Yelp brought this place to my attention, big thanks to Jane, Peter and the Brooklyn Winery for hosting this. I didn't even know that this place existed. My bf had been to the venue before but before it had been a winery, and was unaware as well.

The place is beautiful, well done with the decor. I loved the photo booth, but didn't have a chance to go in. ( :(  Line was super long) Nice touch with the hats as well! The tour was cute, and it was really cool that I got a tour from one of the actual owners. That was very personal, even though it was a group tour, its nice to see the owners of a place being real.

The location of this place is interesting, since the vibe is a bit Park Slope-ish, but I'm sure it will do fine.

Thanks again for amazing events like this!

I had been looking forward to another Brooklyn Yelp Elite event since I was able to go to the mustache event. I had a blast there, got pretty drunk, and was able to walk back to my girlfriends apartment. At the Brooklyn Winery, I was even closer to her apartment, but it was a TUESDAY NIGHT! WHAT THE HELL! I have to work the next day.

Anyway. When we arrived at the Brooklyn Winery, we were shocked by the line outside, which was probably about 25 people deep, then when we got to the door, the last wine opener (which was really cool looking) was given away to the group RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME!

So. Things are going a bit rough. Then I got my name tag and found wine. Some really good wine. I tried every wine and personally enjoyed the Chardonnay the most, it was just delicious and light. I also got to try all of the food that was for sampling. Everything was great, but the pork with apricot spread on a toasted piece of bread was sllllllaaaammmminnn'''!!!!! HOLY SHIT. I probably had three or four and I'm a freakin' vegetarian! I know crazy right. I can't even explain how good this was.

After a little while, my girlfriend and I took some photos in the photo booth, then after with the lady, we found out they do weddings and create little table books with all the photos. Already got what I'm having at my wedding. An amazing idea. After a quick tour of the winery from John, one of the owners, and a quick talk with him and one of the wine makers, I was enjoying my time more than the Mustache party.

When we got back downstairs to give the pudding a shot, we found out that we had missed them because we went on the tour. That sucks, but when I asked the chef what happened, he turned around, whip up some stuff, and served me a small amount of pudding on a fork. What a gift.

My only complaint about the event...too crowded. I could barely move around at times downstairs and after moving to the upstairs, I found it much easier to enjoy myself and talk with others. YELP...less people equals more fun. Like 20 people less would have made the difference, but who knows...I might have been one of those 20 people.

Everything was great at the Brooklyn Winery. I have a splendid time and was a little buzzed after some great wine and a couple of Hard Ciders. I know for sure I will be back to the Brooklyn Winery wine bar at some point, especially when they have the wines made with the Argentinian grapes.

Between all of the [local] alcohol and food consumed, the photobooth and its kickass props, the band, the tour, and the space, how in the hell does an Elite event get any better?

The Brooklyn Winery space is niiice. It was much larger than expected and just felt so homey. I would happily get tipsy in that space any time I could. I won't even dock it points for being in the midst of hipsterville.

The food was some tasty little nibbles from Radish, and it was good enough that I stumbled over to the store after the event, right before they closed. Great job to them.

And a photobooth that puts all the photos online the next day? Well, that sounds dangerous for my reputation yet most awesome as well.

The tour of the winery with co-owner Brian was very informative. He really has a passion for what he is doing and it showed in his tour.

The photobooth was perfection! Loved the lunchbox and the little goodies that were scattered around (My wife took them all when i got home).

The band was great, the place itself had a great vibe and i can't wait to attend another event and meet more Yelpers!

I might not be an expert on wine, but I know enough to know something good when I see it; Brooklyn Winery is definitely good! The space has beautiful details like vintage wallpaper, large communal tables and, oh yeah, generous pours of delicious wine. I'm glad I grabbed dinner beforehand!

Irene F. and I thought the wine was great, and the nibbles from Radish rocked, especially the butternut squash skewers. The tour of the actual winery in the back was very informative, you can tell that the people running this place are very passionate about wine making.

And! They have the best photobooth ever! Fake mustaches as props are a nice touch. (Are they always on hand?)

While it was too loud to sustain a conversation, I dug the music -- they seem to be Yelp's in-house band at this point.

    Ahhhh!!!!!!

My first Elite event was, in one word: spectacular. I had no idea what to expect - yet, for whatever reason, my expectations were set high: I guess that's what the word "Elite" does to you!

The wine was great - Merlot tasted the best to me with dark spices; the Chardonnay was just too watered down! Bottled beer/pear cider was girly and refreshing. I LOVED the music... How cool and interesting - especially loved the clarinetist! When I found out there was a photo booth and props, it sealed the deal to solidify it a fantastic night.

My only thought: I wish there had been more food! I know we were warned to eat beforehand, but the little bites we got to eat were sooo delicious... I would have liked so much more of that. Oh, and I would have loved one of those cool, awesome lunchboxes. Maybe next time?? :D

What a great choice of location. Before this I couldn't tell you the last time I had a glass of wine at a bar. However, everything that was nice or cute about the space conspired against me that rainy night to no fault of ambassadors Pete and Jane.

Carrying a glass of red wine in front of the crowded bar I was inevitably met with the backside of an unaware yelper that had decided to walk in a direction he was not facing. Out of character indeed, as most yelpers have higher walking IQs than this, but character doesn't matter when spilling red wine on others' work shirts. Well, it might have if you help your victim with so much as a word of contrition. Now I remember why I don't drink wine in bars.

I took myself to the bar in hopes that they would have soda water, but no, why would they at a wine bar? My friend suggested white wine as an alternative to soda, and the bartender kindly obliged me with a rag doused in white. Into the bathroom I went, except, there wasn't really a bathroom. The toilets were in closets and the shared sink was exposed in the dark hallway; its hot and cold faucets separated. Cute? of course. But oh how impractical!

Thank goodness I wore an undershirt, because without it the embarrassment of scrubbing my stained shirt in public would have made me far more flushed than the countless glasses of red wine. I hung the shirt and put on my spare as only Don Draper would and carried on as if I weren't glowing as red as my drink.

I admit it, I am a wine snob. Especially after visiting Napa. HOWEVER, Brooklyn winery is like a bit of Napa here in NY! The Merlot was excellent and so were the eats. You could tell there was a lot of thought in the cozy design and decor.

Thanks again Pete, Leigh Ann and Jane for a great Elite event!
