I'm so glad I finally settled on going here for hubby's birthday dinner. The restaurant was celebrating Earth Hour for the whole of the evening by having only candle and LED lights in the dining room. It got pretty dark, but fun!
One of the best meals we've ever enjoyed. We started off by having the Charcuterie Board for two which included cured meats, smoked salmon, pickles, a couple different chutneys and bread. For mains, I had the Free-Range Grain Fed Chicken Breast with cranberry brioche bread pudding, brussel sprouts, beets, sweet potato pure and chicken jus. Hubby had the Grass Fed beef tenderloin, onion rosti potato, confit vegetables, arugula salad with garlic dressing and beef glaze.
Every bite was heaven. Tender, moist meat seasoned perfectly. Best chicken and beef either of us has ever had. Veg were done just right, neither underdone nor overdone. There was more food then we could comfortable finish. I think next time we will go for something lighter like a salad to start and then maybe we just might have enough room to enjoy one of their tempting desserts.
There are plenty of other offerings on the menu, many seafood entrees as well as lamb, pork and pasta.
The beauty of this menu is that everything is sourced within a 50 mile radius and how fortunate that they are so close to the Halifax Seaport Farmers Market with an abundant supply of beautiful local products. They do an excellent job of advertising and showcasing local produce and products. Even Nova Scotia wines are offered at only $5 above cost.
One of the team of chefs, Jonathan Arsenault was in the dining room during our dinner ensuring everything was to our liking and answering our questions. Our server was friendly and attentive.
I can't wait to go back, again & again, to try the rest of the great food put together by the team of creative, talented chefs. -

Elements Brunch Buffet - excellent job at correcting poor customer service and wayward expectations. Let me explain:
My BF and I were invited to Elements Brunch Buffet for a pre-Christmas gathering with a group of friends. We had heard that Elements brunch was rather pricy, so went online to do some research. As far as we could tell, brunch was $17.95 based on the only Westin/Elements posting. So, we said "Sure, we'll come" to our friends.
Arriving at brunch, we were greeted and taken to our table and given coffee. The waiter then dissapeared. No additional drinks were offered and nor were instructions on the buffet provided.
We ate as much buffet food as we could handle, eggs benedict (slightly dried out), sasuages, waffles, sushi, cheese (slightly sweaty), crackers, prime rib. etc.
Then the bill came: $78 plus tax........ HUH? Turns out that the SUNDAY brunch is actually $34.00 plus tax. Needless to say were we were slightly aghast at the price given the food quality and service.
Upon returning home, we decided that an e-mail to management was in order. Normally we would not lodge a complaint, however felt that Elements should be accurately posting the Sunday Brunch price on their website. Also, service for that price should be top notch. We emailed the restaurant and recieved a response indicating sincere apologies for our less than stellar experience. We were offered complimentary brunch.
Visit #2: We arrived and were seated at a table for two, window seat. Our server brought coffee and fresh orange juice (it was delicious). More brunch foods were consumed including some fritatta and waffles and bacon. Yum. Our waiter was very nice and provided excellent service.
Thank you Elements for taking our concerns seriously and remedying a poor experience. I still think $34.00 for brunch is over-priced;however we will surely consider Elements for a nice lunch or supper meal in the future.
Note: Elements on Hollis still does not list the price of Sunday Brunch on their website. -

Finally went to Elements on Hollis after hearing such great things about this resto. We had a fabulous evening - service was excellent, ambiance was nice, food was outstanding. The squash soup, including its presentation, was stellar, and the beef tenderloin a la Getaway Meat Mongers from the Seaport Market was excellent. We LOVE their 50 mile radius sourcing policy - dining with a conscience. I look forward to returning, especially as I didn't get the chance to try the beer brownie!

When my Mom was still alive, Elements was one of the places we would go to if we wanted a super-extra-special dinner that she could enjoy. What I mean by that is that it's fine dining, but still familiar enough in execution that a turkey dinner is still a turkey dinner, even if it is all stacked up in a nice little cylinder shape.
The dining room is really nice - lots of atmosphere - low lighting and hushed conversations. i would warn potential diners to ask for seating away from the windows during the winter months, because it actually gets quite chilly on the outer edge of the restaurant.
Expensive, but good for a special occasion (we actually had Christmas dinner here one year!).
