For the value, it's pretty good, not going to knock anyone off their feet.  simple decor, smaller place but if one's in the area, it's a good casual place for Mexican food.

Ordered the enchiladas, lots of cheese, could've used a bit more chicken from what i'm used to, like back home at El Taco.

I'll be back but not anytime soon.  Obviously.

I came here about a year ago just to check out what it was all about and give their Mexican cuisine a try. Upon entering the restaurant I initially thought it was a little small and crowded but the staff are super friendly and accomodating.

When seated you are brought out some nachos and fresh made salsa which was probably the highlight of the meal, the salsa was soo good I ate it all up! I ordered the chimichangas and although they tasted amazingly good, the portion size was so small that I pretty much left hungry. The better half got some kind of taco bowl if I can remember? And had nothing but complaints, the taco bowl itself was way too greasy and she said the shrimp inside was not very fresh either.

All in all I think there's a reason why I haven't returned in almost a year, because there are just too many other great restaurants in London to go and experience. El ranchito is a little overpriced for their portion sizes.

I'm not sure what to make of this place.  I've been to this place a handful of times over the past few years and on some occasions, the food is incredibly fresh and tastes amazing.  But on other occasions, the food has been stale or carelessly made (e.g. kind of sloppy, oily, and greasy).  For me, the good occasions have persuaded me to give this place 4 stars but when they're off, it's not good at all.  When they are on, good dishes for me are the paella, chimichangas, and enchiladas.  Service is always friendly though which is a plus.  I haven't been to El Ranchito in quite a while so I'm not sure if what I'm saying still holds true.  Either way, it's still a good place to be introduced into Latin American food if those who aren't familiar with it (such as myself).

Yes, the prices are reasonable and the staff is friendly but that does not make up for the fact that this is mediocre Latin food. Everything on the menu tastes/looks the same and is in serious need of a boost in the flavour department. I ordered a Mojito and they made it with parsley instead of mint.

I'm rarely adventurous at restaurants. I stick to the tried & true more times than not, so it's no surprise I went with chicken flautas and a chicken chimichanga for my first visit here. The flautas also had potato inside and I felt they were a bit heavy but still had a nice flavour. The chimi was not deep fried, which was unusual to me and the two of them looked and tasted like large soft chicken tacos. But that was my fault as the menu clearly stated it could come both ways. I just didn't expect the default to be soft.  The fillings in both were plentiful and filled me up fast. They serve fresh homemade salsa and corn chips when you arrive and those are delicious.  The decor is very basic, almost like someone's dining room with mismatched tables and chairs but it adds a certain appeal. There seems to be regular clientele as well as people looking for good Latin American food. It's definitely worth trying -- there's lots more adventurous things on their menu.
