Ok let me start with yes its overpriced but its CANADA, so get over it.
I had the Breton Benedict-Two eggs poached, two crêpes, ham, gruyere cheese with hollandaise sauce.($10.99) and I must say I was impressed.
Ottawa has a few good restaurants and a lot of bad ones so as you can imagine my expectations are lower than if I was in a city such as Paris or NYC. (Yes, I think Ottawa sucks) Back to the food, get the Breton Benedict! Perfect combination of crepes, poached eggs, hollandaise sauce and cheese! mmmmmm.
We went here around 10am and by the time we were done (11am) there was a long line (on a Saturday) Would definitely come back.
No street parking. Smoothies are so-so ($5-6). Sit upstairs, better atmosphere. -

I had high hopes I was going to get some "big, warm, fluffy" pancakes but left with a dysphoric affect (hey I was at a psych conference) after being subjected to these pieces of crap they considered pancakes. Super-tough and lukewarm, the bananas weren't even cooked in, just layered on the top...sigh. The cakes weren't even served with enough syrup to make them serviceable to my needs. My absent-minded server forgot the butter so they got even cooler while I flagged someone down to get some fat goodness. Finally, I take a bite, too dry. So I asked for more syrup and after a couple minutes I got a little cup of syrup that was practically frozen, so cold that it had just been taken from the sub-zero (lol). At this point all hope was lost so with a frown I dumped it on my cakes and sullenly ate as quickly as I could to get the hell out of their and not push my luck further. I wish I had walked down to Bramasole's (?) like the barista at the coffee shop suggested.
The positive: a super-yummy fruit bowl, surprisingly better than I've gotten at a lot of places in fruit season in CA; and the hostess was friendly too! -

We visited here on a Saturday morning during our visit to Ottawa. Our friendly server was very prompted with her service and kept ensuring we were good. My BF ordered a chicken crepe and he was very pleased with it. I had ordered smoked salmon with spinach eggs benedict and was satisfied with it.
The food arrived very prompt and we would revisit this location if we ever go back to Ottawa!!! Our experience here that day helped start a great first visit in Ottawa =) -

Eggspectations; a semi-clever name that fails to be lived up to and leaves you with an eggspensive bill.
In a blatant attempt to be chic this seemingly upscale breakfast to dinner restaurant offers everything from burgers, grilled salmon, to eggs benedict. It was with no surprise to find the portions were eggstremely small. Unfortunately the size of the dishes were not compensated by flavour leaving me with two separate unmemorable and bland meals. No artistic liberties taken with the sauces nor were the ingredients outstanding.
The place has as much charm as a Cactus Club despite a gigantic effort to make their interior decor a "Cirques des Oeufs" (Circus of eggs). An eggsaggeration to say the least. Understaffed, the server's frantically try to get on top of the brunch hour rush which resulted in a misplaced order on my second visit. They've successfully attracted the Ottawa business crowd and the place was packed. In fact they have a private meeting room you may rent. They offer Wi-Fi and plug sockets though I highly doubt they're into letting you sit around for hours.
The Eggspectation omelette was regretfully uninspiring. I could not decide whether its attempt at being fashionable was the reason for its scale or that perhaps it was a blessing in disguise as enduring its quarter sized portion would be short lived. I ordered an equally dispassionate side salad that complimented its eggsorbitant price. The whole dish reminisced of a traditional student omelette, made in a hurry, from whatever week old ingredients had marginally survived since the last time grocery shopping was possible.
The Con Panna was overcooked long past al dente. The sauce was bleak and the parmesan was apparently sparse. The sauce overall was watery and the garlic had been burned leaving a slightly bitter aftertaste.
The company is a franchise that started in Montreal in 1993. Since they've expanded through Ontario and into the United States. Their mission statement full of puns and name amalgamations (eggcellence, eggsperience, eggstraordinary, eggsciting) where they ambitiously set a goal of having 70 restaurants in 5 years and over 200 locations in 10 years. -

I just went here last week and I had the best experience! It was Sunday around noon, and as you would expect, the place was packed - both floors. There were a bunch of people near the door, waiting to be seated, so we asked the lady at the front how long of a wait it would be. She said 10 minutes, and I was pretty skeptical because of all of the people, but we said sure, anyway. To my surprise, we did only wait 10 minutes!
It took a little while to look over the menu and decide what to order, but I was set on ordering some type of Eggs Benedict. I ordered the Boca Raton Benedict, which was two poached eggs on English muffins with spinach, guacamole, Gruyere cheese, and Hollandaise sauce. It also came with roasted potatoes, a slice of honeydew melon, and an orange slice. I'm the kind of person that always needs to eat meat, so I ordered some ham on the side. I'm also not a coffee drinker, but I was feeling really tired, so I asked for a Caffè Moka Nero, which is actually espresso and hot chocolate with whipped cream, instead of just coffee. Our server asked me if I wanted a cup or a bowl, and I chose bowl, but I thought it was cool that I had a choice.
My boyfriend ordered the All American breakfast, with scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, ham, roasted potatoes, baked beans, and melon and orange slices. They put the baked beans in a small little plastic cup, and I thought it was great that they separated them, since restaurants usually just slap it on the plate with the rest of the food.
It took less than 10 minutes for our food to get to our table. It was hot and fast, and was absolutely delicious. I'd never had Eggs Benedict with guacamole before, and this may be a bold statement, but I do believe it's my new favorite! The potatoes weren't greasy, there was far more ham than I expected and could finish, and the plates were neatly presented. We were so happy with the food and the service, and I had such a good breakfast/brunch, that I'm absolutely ready to go back!Listed in: Glutton

There's a first time for everything and then there's a last time for everything. Unfortunately for those at Eggspectation I experienced both at the same time.
Marred by slow service and a very cold breakfast (which was supposed to be not cold) my opinion of this place isn't exactly stellar.
I had high eggspectations (I had to...) going into this place considering it's really only a breakfast or brunch place but the first thing we noticed was that the plate they served me had a crusted piece of food from the last person who ate off it and things never really covered from there.
The service was quite slow and the place wasn't all that busy. I ordered a simple breakfast and my scrambled eggs were quite cold. All for the price of something I'd eggspect (OK, I'll stop) more. -

We were having really bad luck with restaurants on our long-weekend trip to Ottawa, so we decided to play it safe for breakfast and go to a chain. All I wanted was an omelet and this restaurant was close enough to the hotel that I figured we'd give it a shot.
We walked in and the woman at the door was very nice and courteous. She informed us that it's not really worth sitting downstairs as the view is nicer from the second floor. There isn't very much to see anyway, but she was right enough.
I got a western omelet and it got to me before I finished preparing my coffee. The wait staff and kitchen were really on top of everything, except for the food itself.
My omelet, which was said to be three eggs, was paper thin to the point of being crunchy. The potatoes were alright and the "seasonal vegetables" were pretty good to, but I was just so sour about how my omelet turned out that I had a hard time enjoying the rest of the meal.
I got a little more upset when the bill came. It cost more than the dinner we had the night before. We avoided Cora's, which came pretty highly recommended here on Yelp!, for that very reason.
I left with my head down and my wallet - and stomach - empty. -

I had brunch on a sunday, and it was surprisingly good. I had hoped it would be as good as scone witch, and I think it was actually better. There is a large enough menu, and the potatoes fries were memorably good, and the service was noticably unnoticeable, that is, they were in and out and kept things moving at the right pace. I liked the decor too, which whil part of a mall, seemed unique and warehouse like.
if this is a chain, what a country! it beat US chains like them by a mile. I would go back. -

Eggspectation's is part of a franchise, but for something like breakfast, that doesn't bother me too much. The food is consistent and although a bit on the pricey side, especially if you start ordering their smoothies and special juices, it hits the spot when you feel like breaky on a lazy week-end morning.
They have good variety on their menu, so if someone doesn't feel like eggs or very basic pancakes, then this place is for them.
However if you're just looking for very basic eggs, toast and bacon/sausage, you may be better off looking for a diner of some sort. -

Completely overpriced. You can get a complete breakfast meal for $7 around Ottawa that tastes WAY better and will leave you feeling full instead of hungry, without breaking your wallet.

Middling food, and expensive for what you get.
