A friend brought me here for breakfast as it was my last day in beautiful Montreal. Once I figured out the street naming Ouest/Est convention I finally found it!

We were greeted and seated pretty immediately but it seemed to be pretty busy inside. Since this was the morning after lots of drinks, I wasn't TOO hungry so my friend and I shared an omelet. He also let me try his orange juice which was amazing and fresh squeezed. Errr, I stuck with water though, you know, being the morning after and all.

I cannot remember the name of the omelet we got but it was REALLY good, stuffed with sausage and veggies, it was big enough to share. Also on the side were a few pieces of fruit and some roasted potatoes which were also REALLY good!

Lastly, I love the name of it, very cute!

Eggspectation is a little overpriced and corporate feeling, but overall a solid bet for breakfast.

They have a large menu with all your breakfast favorites, and some that probably would become favorites if you gave them a chance....! The choices are a little overwhelming. But honestly, at least they are choices that sound delicious, rather than choices that sound risky. One thing I loved is that they did offer many healthier versions of their breakfasts, although I'm not sure why egg whites need be so much more expensive than whole eggs! The service was very fast and professional, although not especially friendly. They have a large and lovely terrasse overlooking de l'Esplanade.

I think I will go back again and try something else. It's nice to have breakfast fast and exactly how you expect it to be when you order it. It's especially good after a long night out!

I would also like to address some of the other reviews on the other Eggspectations yelp pages. Guys, it's a chain. No chain restaurants in Montreal are gonna blow your socks off. But it's good, fast, predictable food for breakfast in a good, enjoyable, predictable environment. I find that comforting, and also find value in that. If you want some kind of gastronomic explosion, then why the hell did you even walk into a place with a name like 'Eggspectations'! I mean, seriously. Think about that for a second. It has to be the cheesiest name of any chain restaurant in all of Montreal, and made especially more so since it actually takes the name seriously. There's no 'we've been here for 50 years' kind of vibe at Eggspectations. They actually chose that name after Clinton was elected. Their website says they are planning on expanding into India and all over the US. This is a serious franchise. But even still, they manage to make their food much better than a whole lot of places in Montreal, and faster too. If that matters to you at all, then go, pay 2$ more for brekky, and enjoy it. If you want cheap, stay away. If you want amazing, stay far away. And if you're the kind of person who walks into places named 'Eggspectations' looking for inspired culinary designs, and then complains about how bland their stuff is, get a new hobby.
