Review from Andrew H.
For those who have owned an Xbox-360 unit, you must all be aware of the failure rate on these machines. Basically, the system after a certain time frame fails because of overheating.
Microsoft does honor their warranty and even extended it. But for those who have their unit fail on them after the warranty (like yours truly), I was not looking forward to purchasing a new unit.
A friend of my suggested Edmonton Mods. I was able to confirm that they could repair my unit for $50.00 (they have most of their repair services listed online). That's a pretty good price to pay considering new units start at $200.00.
After a inquiry e-mail, the technician replied with an exhausted diagnosis, explanation and a detailed break down of the repair itself. The man knows his stuff.
The turn-around time was within the day. The thing that impressed me the most was the attitude and the dedication to keeping his clients informed. He is very thorough with explanations; it wasn't a matter of taking my money and giving my unit back. The technician also explained what I would expect after the repair was done as well (kind of like a post op report).
So for those of you who have any gaming units out there (not just Xbox-360) with repairs in need or even extra hardware modification, at least speak to the man. It's better than calling the larger company's service reps reading off some script.
