I have spent many fun hours rifling through the hats in this great little store and, every once in a while, coming out with something great to top my noggin.
Edie's is great, not only because it offers a huge collection of men's and women's head-wear, but also because the sales staff are very friendly and strangely knowledgeable. If the hat you like doesn't fit perfectly they will go out of their way to make it work. If the hat you are trying on doesn't quite work with your face they will make enlightened suggestions. Finally, they have NO problem letting you try on everything in the store as long as you are friendly. I am IN LOVE with the huge and elaborate "My Fair Lady" hats that, sadly, I will never own unless I have plans to attend a royal wedding or a major horse race. Nonetheless, trying on these gorgeous pieces of art never hurt anyone and it can make for some fun window shopping. If I get married at some point in the distant future I plan to come to edies and pick up something truly decadent to wear on that special day. Their classic hat/veils are stunning and if anyone out there is looking for a wedding-day accessory I strongly suggest you head down to Net Loft and check this place out.
Whether you are looking for something grand and extravagant, costumey (if expensive) or just plain cute... you are sure to go mad as a hatter for this delightful little store!Listed in: Ironic Eats and Meets

I'm pretty sure I was born in the wrong century. I own as many vintage dresses, stockings and accoutremont as I can on my meagre student monetary diet, love old movies and would happily wear a corset, garters and heels every day if I could.
And of course - what completes a gorgeous vintage outfit better than a gorgeous chic hat? When I discovered Edie Hats on Granville Island I was immediately drawn to the store - the decor is so me, the hats are incredible and it's always packed. I could spend hours in here checking out hat after hat and fantasizing about taking it home for my very own.
But - and here's where the sadness begins - I have never actually purchased a hat from Edie. They are outside my pitiful little student budget and so for now, all I can do is admire from afar.
However - if you have money to burn, and a passion for haute headgear - this is the place to go my friends.Comment from Aisling B. of Edie Hats 11/3/2011

[Cue the violin] Why does everything in this shop have to have such a dear price tag? Why? Why? Why? Why can't I just buy the red top hat with the feather up in front? Because it cost $130 that's why! It's torture, especially for a gal like me, who has 2 shelves in her closet dedicated to hats.
Okay, now that I've come to peace with not buying the feather hat, I can at least look around and see that Edie Hats is a glorious place, filled with head coverings that would make any woman, man or child look awesome at any age, or period.
From flapper style bathing caps to fedoras and Sunday bonnets, if you have a hat need, they'll definitely be able to fill the bill (literally, they'll take their fill of your bills to pay for it!). -

The hat store in Granville Island! I believe many people of my generation, born and raised in Vancouver, know Edie Hats, located in Granville Island's Net Loft building, by this generic name. Either way, it's a fun boutique in which you can try on some really kooky, old-style hats, and a great place to find more practical headgear for yourself or as a gift.
Edie also carries hatty accessories, including scarves, gloves, mittens, and some romantic-looking beauty products in the back corner of the store. -

I love a good hat...and as my hair line recedes hats are becoming a very necessary accessory for me...
My sister was in town recently and we did the obligatory Granville Island tour. We headed to the Net Loft first as it's filled with some of the best shops on Granville Island. We went into Edie Hats with absolutely no intention of buying..just looking around and being all touristy...before we knew it 2 associates had hats on our heads..they literal said "hey, this would be a great hat for you" and put in on my head. We spent about 30 mins of so trying hats on..having a great time with the associates and eventually both left with new hats...
Great service was the only real reason for the purchase and the great service will keep me buying more hats as the hair recedes some more...Listed in: Super Great Service.

Hats! I have become a massive fan of the chapeau since moving to Vancouver. For me, the hat has evolved from a simple hairstyle saving device to a major fashion accessory. I find myself searching for and purchasing hats regularly now and I know I am in trouble because spending serious cash on a hat doesn't seem so crazy to me. Send in help!
Needless to say, I gravitated towards Edie Hats, not having been in here since I was a child visiting Vancouver with my parents, and being just as in awe of the store now as I was then. With the Christmas season approaching, the store is lit up with fairy lights and the air is heady with the scent of cider and incense. The atmosphere created in the store is only enhanced by the energetic and helpful staff, a gaggle of hat-attired young ladies who are more than happy to encourage you to try on a unique hat or two. They will also help you justify your purchase as all great sales people and hat-lovers should do!
While the women's selection outdoes the men's, that isn't to say the boys don't have a fantastic selection of top-quality, dapper head toppers to choose from. Ladies, your choices are endless and almost overwhelming! From gorgeous throwbacks to the Roaring 20's with cloches and more modern choosing of tweed and plaid (always in style...!), there is bound to be a hat that fits your head and your style.
If fabulous hats aren't enough, Edie's Hats transforms into Edie's Cafe for special events including flamenco dancing and period-costume theme nights. All for the love of hats! -

P and I both bought hats here on our visit to VBC. The store is stuffed with fashions we like and others too (and tourists). We are serious hat people and found several that we liked. (I f you wear a hat coming in they know you're not going to leave without another.)
I found wide selection of styles, colors and sizes. Many top quality. There are more sophisticated hat stores I've been in but none I enjoyed more, and definitely a must stop for Granville Island.. -

Edie hats is definitely one of the stranger shops in Vancouver. And Vancouver actually has a ton of hat shops.
Edie hats is strange not for having a weird selection or cheesy hats. In fact Edie hats tends to be the more fashionable store in town. At worst Edie's hats are haute coutoure costume.
What makes them strange is to have a beautiful store with expensive hats and still be really nice. They get most of their traffic from tourists and they've learned to let you try everything on , be friendly and personable to make a good sale. You'll have fun and see a lot here without ever feeling like a bull in a china shop. -

It is unfortunate that the prices are way too high, If you have lots of money it is good shop to buy if you do not, then just have fun looking.

It's pretty simple: I love hats, and this is the best store to buy them in Vancouver, whether you're looking for something trendy, classic, or even suitable for church or a wedding. It is always a little crowded (both with people, and hundreds and hundreds of hats.) Along with fabulous accessories (including gloves and scarves), you can always find at least one guy here looking for the Indiana Jones fedora!
Prices range from fairly inexpensive to pricey (for some of the more high-end hats.)Listed in: Granville Island Picks and…

Edie's Hats is not your grandmother's hat store. The hat wearing employees are a testament to how cool hats should be. And Edie's has a blog. In addition to a wide variety of stylish hats for men, women, and children, Edie's also carries cute accessories like scarves and fingerless gloves and mittens in one.

I needed a hat to get my recently Vancouverized nephew out of the baseball caps he has always wore in the great white north (you know the rest of Canada, excluding Montreal and downtown Toronto), so I checked out the hat shops of Vancouver, well the 2 that were open on Saturdays (how does a Gastown shop make a living not open Saturday??) Edies to the rescue, the staff are helpful funny and really scattered (the 30 Japanese girls in the shop might have been a handful) They showed me several lids and I steeled on what turned out to be the most expensive, but hey it's a BD gift. They said any problem send him in, he would like that 4 pretty young women in one small shop absolutely loaded with hats of all types and styles, I think he'll be down to get other great hats.

Nice selection of unique headwear. Beware the pricetag, though: I bought a Goorin Bros. hat as a last-minute souvenir before we headed out of town, and was disappointed to find the same hat online at many stores for 25% less. Fun place, though.
