Review from Barry M.
This review is for Edgewater Poker room and Splash Bistro (in house 24h restaurant). Don't care about anything else, never used a slot machine in my life...
Poker games are mostly $1/$2 no limit with buy-in of $300 max (min is $100 I believe?) with 1 short buy allowed.
Also played are $4/8 limit, $4/8 kill, $2/$5 No Limit ($500 min buy, not sure on max but it's at least $1500 max possibly unlimited).
Dealers are fast and friendly (for the most part, granted they deal with a lot of negative people all day so I give them a bit of slack).
Restaurant is a bit hit or miss, usually hit. Chicken pesto was amazing, regular burger was good, calamari burger was a big miss (calamari was very tough and unchewable). Mornings they have a $3+tax breakfast served from 6-8am with eggs, toast, and choice of sausage/ham/bacon. -

I wish they built a casino like the "River rock" downtown (bah humbug to the mayor and company) So there is not a big show area, a few tables and lots of slots.
The best time I ever had in a Casino was here during the Olympics Game 7 they set up the Keno room with a giant TV (40 foot!)
Beer and hot dogs for cheap
Canada won the Gold and I will always good memories of the Edgewater -

Second time gambling in my entire life. I stuck $20 in a Kitty Glitter slot machine and $180 came out! AMAZING! Took $20 of my winnings to their Splash Bistro and got Poutine and Calamari. TERRIBLE! Poutine lacked cheese, fries were sad and droopy, looked like it was cooked in a microwave. Calamari was so tough it was barely edible. Guess I should have put that $20 back in the slots...

Every now and then even a blind squirrel finds a nut. Case in point, look at Archie R.'s dating record!!
Rose and I literally stumbled onto this spot after picking up our tickets to the Sharks/Canucks game at GM Place. Go Sharks!! (btw the Sharks won that game 4-2). So while we were leaving we noticed the "Edgewater", holy shit....is that a casino??
Rose and I can't walk past a casino without going in. Turns out , it's a full blown casino. Slots, table games, poker rooms upstairs. Didn't take long for me to hit the black jack tables. Ended up playing for about 15 mins and won enough for lunch and dinner. Took my profits and went up stairs to watch the end of the daily poker tourneyment. We had a few questions about some of the action going on and the folks at Edgewater were more than helpful and friendly. Will definitely be back to the Edgewater next time we are back in Vancouver... -

I young, tattooed whippersnapper attempted to bluff me out of two hands while we were heads-up. The first time he went all-in (ha ha), I hesitated for a few seconds before calling. My straight was good even with a flush on the board.
The second time, the call was a bit tougher.
After he went all-in on the turn, with a flush and two kings on the board, I really contemplated laying it down. Was he representing an overbet with a made boat? Did he have the nut flush, thinking I had a king, trying to prevent ME from filling up on the river? Was he really trying to bluff me TWICE within 20 minutes? I was really confused. But I called.
When he said, "Nice call..." I thought he was drawing dead. NOT! He had the king! Fortunately, the river didn't fill him up, and my queen-high flush prevailed.
We then high-tailed it OUTTA there. -

Let me start this review by saying I really don't like casinos. I don't gamble much, and feel a wall of sadness in the air when I walk into them, but that is my personal bias...
I am writing this review because I just spent two days working a PR function at the Plaza of Nations for the World Police and Fire Games. The Edgewater Casino was absolutely wonderful about letting us all, including dripping wet dragonboat racers use their bathrooms, their bistro and to get drinking water. We all (and I mean hundreds of us) tracked in and out of there all day long, and the staff were welcoming and nice about it.
It was kind of sad to walk in there at 9am to get a water and see people already gambling their hearts out... I can't imagine these are the "just for fun" folks.
Anyway, Kudos to the Edgewater for being so great about all of us. -

Poker tables aren't the newest here like River Rock Casino (they just had the tops replaced). But Blue Label shots are 25 bucks! what an awesome deal! maybe they want you drunk with class.

I'm not what you'd call a high roller. In fact , if you've read more than about two of my reviews you know I'm cheap as hell so gambling, especially since I never win, isn't my favorite pastime.
That said, you can't surround yourself with teetotalling non-gamblers without being in a coma-ward, so it's important to have a good casino. And, if like me, you don't drive or live in the suburbs, the Edgewater is really your best bet casino-wise.
While there is something charming about most of the ramshackle sad/scary casinos of the burbs it's nice we have a flashy new one right in the heart of downtown. It has all the slots and booze and tables you'd need as well as various other amenities like t.v.s and a fairly good comedy club attached.
So yes, I don't know if your odds are any better here but odds are if you come you'll have a great time. Did you see what I did there? -

I have never been so lucky in my life. I went to this casino each night for three nights and left a winner everytime. The video poker machines are loose, the three card table was entertaining, and I really liked the bar. No smoking was also a nice feature. The location is directly on the waterfront and they have a few food options inside. We were able to walk from our hotel in Yaletown. I will most certainly return on my next visit to Vancouver. For those who do not know, the legal age to gamble is 18 in Canada.

Though no high-rollers ourselves, my friends and I decided to go for a slot game or 4 at the Edgewater Casino in East Vancouver, behind GM Place. The location is key for this Casino, right on the water with beautiful views, should you need to take a breather from all that money-winning...or losing! The Edgewater Casino offers you over 30,000 square feet of glorious gaming, dining and entertainment. Game's include over 500 slot tables, where you can press a button and order food service directly to your machine, poker, blackjack and the usual suspects. The High Limit room allows for more freedom with your cash and the chance at some serious money (loss or gain of course!) with mini-baccarat, blackjack and pai-gow. They also hold poker tournaments on various days during the week, you can call or visit the website to find out exactly when they are holding a tourney. Personally, I like the slots, I've been underpaid (read: broke) for long enough to want something in return for my hard-earned moola...but that being said, I can gamble with the best of them when I'm in the mood and slots are just perfect for this. We noshed on tasty calamari and snacky bits at the Splash Bistro near the entrance of the casino and ordered a couple of beers before heading to the slots. My girl friend actually won about 40 bucks that night on slots and subsequently we celebrated at the Vue Bar and Lounge with a few more drinks. Vue Bar has, you guessed it, a great view of the inlet and they also serve up some signature drinks to fuel your gambling courage. If you happen to be at the casino between 6am-9am (hey, i don't judge...) then you can fuel up with a 2.99 breakfast. You never know, you might only have 2.99 left at 6am and at least you can get fed! The Edgewater also hosts comedy acts, concerts and special events, along with being a venue for charity events.
