Great for the price, and a nice location! Free breakfast! Didn't smell (during the winter) like the other reviewer said. First time in Montreal, coming from the US, so maybe I'm missing out on all the other fab hotels of comparable price...but def not bad. Nice people at the counter, too!

Don't. Just don't.
You may be tempted because you're on a budget and this hotel is centrally located, but you will regret it. First, it smells--not just in the halls, but in the (cramped) room, and not a musty smell, but a weird industrial smell, like the inside of a cheap chinese-made plastic doll's head, is how I best can describe it. Imagine waking up to this charming scent tickling your nostrils. There were holes in the wall in our room. Bathroom was disguisting. The unpleasant hotel manager's attitude and customer service skills stunk almost as badly as his hotel.
Can't give 'no stars', so the one star I give will count towards the location, which is good, and the free wireliess. No parking, no other amenities. TV didn't work, nor did the mini-bar.
Montreal is full of hotels, many as cheap and as well-situated as this one. I suspect that market forces/competition will weed this one out sooner than later.
Till then: without a doubt, you can definitely do better.
