I have had telephone and internet with eastlink for 3 years, they have been great. I've also got free installation recently when I got their highspeed internet. The technicians have been personable and helpful. I had linux but everything worked out great. Their customer service has been friendly and I've called during off peak hours, around 3-4pm and found it not that long of a wait.
I'd go with them again, all I know before is Bell and Virgin wireless and they were very unpleasant experiences, so in comparison I like eastlink. -

I owned an Eastlink account last year while living on my own, but after an apartment changeover and a new roomie, decided Aliant would be a better call.
The customer service at Eastlink appeared unprofessional and unknowledgeable regarding the overall services provided. When the technician came to my door for the setup, he was immediately thrown off by my Mac computer. Um... isn't this the new wave of technology? Apple owns the universe and is slowly building its way to a release of the iPerson. By not knowing how to deal with a Mac computer, you are basically admitting you aren't qualified for your job.
Carrying on. I assumed that I'd be getting wireless internet, as this is what I requested. And as I questioned the cords/ bulky equipment coming out of the woodwork, he replied that they "did not have wireless for laptops". At this point I was completely baffled, pondering upon the lack of versatility I'd have with my online sessions.
It was just brutal service all together. And to further add, the plug that went into my laptop did not even fit securely. It kept slipping out and loosing connection-- I ended up just duck taping it down.
I only had internet for about 2 months, so this is why I just let it go. But common, really? No wireless internet? That is a bunch of baloney! Enough Eastlink for me... I prefer internet service providers who know what they're talking about. -
Review from Lacey H.
I waited on hold yesterday for half an hour. I am disconnecting my services with Eastlink since I am moving abroad so needed to inform them of my plans.
I decided to lay the phone on the ground next to my head as I attempted to do some yoga. I didn't want the waiting game to completely interfere with my schedule yesterday morning, as I had quite a bit slated to accomplish. When my number was finally drawn, a man came on the line to assist me.
His voice surprised me, like a ghost on the line that I wasn't expecting to finally appear. I told the Eastlink employee my plans and he told me that I needed to bring the modem into the Halifax Shopping Centre before they could disconnect my services. I asked if this was the most convenient offering they had for their customers and he said yes. I told him that it wasn't very convenient. So now, in the midst of my move, I must drop this box off at the mall so that they'll disconnect my internet. It's not the end of the world, just a bit of a nuisance since I pay them a lot of money monthly for the internet. PLUS - I could have just found this out online, instead of waiting half an hour for someone to tell me this information.
Anyhow, their service, aside from this, has always been pretty good. I'm just miffed that they're not coming to pick up the modem, but no biggie I suppose. Heads up for you, though: if you call them, you may be waiting on the line for half the day. Check their website for answers to your questions before you play the tele waiting game. -

I must say that Eastlink is definitely a better choice over Aliant. Although Aliant has a great bundle deal for under $100 a month, Eastlink would still be my first choice.
I shopped around between the 2 companies and there a few reasons why I ended up booking my installation with Eastlink. 1. The internet is far faster than Aliant. Eastlink is upgrading their High Speed Internet to 30mbs, which is far faster than Aliant. 2. Aliant makes you sign a contract whereas Eastlink doesn't 3. By fall, Eastlink will have the most HD channels available in Canada. They are rolling out a handful of new channels in June and a lot more early Fall.
I was impressed with the customer service I received at Eastlink as well. I believe I will be paying a couple dollars more, but to me it seemed more worth my while.
