The lava cookie, gluten-free chocolate chip cookie, ginger cookie, and flourless chocolate cake were all amazing; fresh, great textures, rich taste. I suggest taking the chocolate cake home and serving it with fresh-sliced strawberries. Their rye bread is also good.

Mostly everything here has been fantastic. The gluten free chocolate chip cookies are incredible--you'd have no idea it was baked w/ quinoa. The flourless chocolate cake is great. The only thing I wasn't into was the scone.

This is a fantastic little bakery that I'm so happy to have discovered. My go-tos are the sourdough loaf (which is is perfectly crusty on the outside, perfectly chewy on the inside, and has delicious flavour), their baguette, and the house made granola. I've also brought their apple pie home for a big family dinner and it was a hit. I'm always tempted to get the the Callebaut flourless chocolate cake and I'm sure I'll give in one of these days. Sometimes there's a little bit of a wait because there's only one person at the counter, but the service is always friendly and efficient.

Wow... it's amazing how service can change your view of a place.
Let's just say it's been inconsistent, and subpar.1 Previous Review: Show all »

East Village, I like that name :D
This is yet another bright, fresh face in an area that is rapidly improving.
It's an artisan or boutique bakery where you can pick up a fresh bread or baguette for any meal, or find more unusual pastries like Stollen during the holidays or ginger bread men -because who doesn't love gingerbread? (Why are they called ginger bread- 'men'? aren't there also little ginger women as well?)
There's so many lovely looking pastries and fresh baked cookies to 'tied you over' or just indulge. I can't begin to describe them all. So get over there and ..."Get 'em while they're hot!" seriously.

Awesome to discover this new artisan bakery.
If you're a fan of Terra, but live on the East side, you will love this place.
Small batch whole grain breads without preservatives. We had the sourdough rye twice now. VERY fresh! First time it was still warm from the oven.
They have whole wheat baguettes, and some yummy looking nut and fruit bread. Definitely a cut above other east-side bakeries.
Their pastries also look amazing! They stay open a little later so you can get fresh bread on the way home from work. Check it out! -

I've been to this bakery a few times, but I'm going to mainly base this review off my most recent visit.
Great little place, almost too little if it gets really busy! They pump out product throughout the day, so it's almost impossible not to get something fresh no matter when you go.
The staff (comprised of only two people, as far as I know) are warm and friendly, which I definitely appreciate. They're more than willing to answer any questions you have about any product.
On my visit today, I purchased the Squash and Rosemary Galette, and the Pain au Chocolate. The galette's pastry was incredible, almost shortbread-like in its consistency. Unfortunately, the filling didn't exactly have much rosemary, if any...regardless, it was still really well made. The pain au chocolate was nice and buttery, with some Callebaut chocolate spread evenly throughout the middle. I imagine earlier in the morning, these would be phenomenal.
Highly recommended for a nice break in the monotony of bakery fare along Hastings. -

Great little gem of a bakery! Highly recommended. Have tried many of their offerings: cranberry pecan baguette, callebaut chocolate flour less cake, various crostatas, pies etc. And all are excellent. Have always had friendly service from the husband and wife team. Such a great addition to the hood.

So happy to have this new bakery in our neighborhood! Try their focacias with white chocolate and berries, or one of many superfresh breads. You'll never go back to factory baked.
