A relic on Robson street, there are not to many businesses that can stand the test of time, going on twenty years plus!  Their business ethics have always been the highest and still are one of the few restaurants that have a wood burning Pizza oven.

On a sunny day, the Patio is HOT!  No heaters needed.  Within 5 minutes of receiving our appetizer, the manager greeted us and asked us how we were doing??  I was BLOWN away!  I honestly cannot remember that last time a Manager asked me about anything.  I respect there standards and wish all restaurants would do the same.  The patio was busy, but not packed.  Both our appetizers and main course came quick, steaming off the grill!

The baby calamari and warm Spinach and Feta triple cheese dip with toasted flatbread drizzled in olive oil, had a table life of about 5 minutes before we devoured every last piece.  If your heart desires Won Ton Chips with your dip, do not hesitate to ask.  The manager will not say NO, even though it is not on the menu.

For my next visit, I plan on trying the Sangria! Cheers, Clink, Drink!

Came here for lunch with some colleagues and tried their cedar plank salmon.  The fish was covered in little bits of mango, which was delightful.  I thought the brown rice was going to suck (aka bland), but this was not the case at all.

My only complaint was that they really dropped the ball on our orders.  We were in a group of 20 or so, and one waitress took care of each "side" (think of a long rectangle).  Within 20 minutes, everyone on 1 side was served, at pretty much the same time.  Then we waited, and waited.. the rest of the dishes didn't show up for another 20-40.  People on the side that got served first were starting to get up and leave by the time the last dish on my side showed up.  This was pretty unacceptable.  So much for trying to eat as a group.

I've been here on a Saturday night twice, and both times we were able to grab a booth for 4 without a wait! Since it's on the second floor of the building, be careful when walking up the tiny stairs with high heels on (especially when it's rainy)!

The drinks here were pretty yummy, and they had $1.00 off martinis on Saturdays. I recommend the Green with Envy Martini and the Lychee Martini which are both very fruity and girly. Their shooters were also delicious but are fairly weak which is nice for people who don't like the nasty taste after taking a shot, but not for people who are trying to get drunk.

The decor of this place is very trendy and modern, and would be a great place for larger groups. They also have a large bar area which is convenient when watching a game on their TVs.

Since many lounges/bars in the DT Vancouver area get packed and busy on the weekends, we will most likely be back at Earls next time we are in the city and can't find a place that can quickly accommodate a group of 4.

I love the location of this earls, It's right on the main shopping district, so if you get a good table near the window, it's great for people watching. It's a nice restaurant. Modern, trendy with a warm kind of vibe. I've never really had any issues at this location.

My favorite dish at earls has got to be the spinach salad with honey glazed toasted pecans, grilled chicken and Bree cheese. Anything with Bree cheese and honey glazed toasted pecans is delicious! It is just me, but don't you think Bree cheese and toasted pecans sounds pretentious? For some strange reason I sometimes classify foods in my mind as pretentious or not. Like gold leaf would be at the end of the spectrum of pretentiousness and a burger on the other end of non pretentiousness, unless of course it has bree cheese, a pecan encrusted chicken breast patty with heirloom tomatoes, major pretentiousness overload!

Anyways I'm getting way off topic....back to earls. The service at this location is good, nothing stellar. It's definitely a great place to just relax and chill and have great conversations with a bunch of good friends.

When Earls first opened up X number of years ago (a long long time ago) they had the parrot decor, yes literally.  Giant parrots all over the place.  Times certainly have changed and they have gone considerably upscale, modern & trendy.  The menu has changed drastically also.  It has gotten a lot better, to compete against the likes of Milestones, Cactus Club, Joeys, Moxie's grill, all within a short walk's distance.

In this location, you get suits, even though it is getting towards the outskirts of the CBD.  Yes, businessmen out for lunch, and me being the stiff-neck collar wearing,  paper pushing, pencil using, office geek, almost fit right in, minus the tie - for the day that I came in.

I had a pulled pork sandwich.  Normally I wouldn't order this, because I can make it at home.  But I was quite pleasantly surprised!  It was substantially better than what I can do :(

Now I have to totally rip it off and duplicate it!!!  :)

OOoh, you are so lucky I was in a good mood that night.  It was a pretty decent night if not for you, you..... just... not good waitress......  You made eye contact 3 times, you went by our table 4 times.... nothing.  Not like it was crazy busy, I've been there when it was worse and got way better service.  It took us literally standing at our table (and my girlfriend actually having to go up to you since flagging you down didn't work) for anyone to pay attention.  You would also think that the suits would have noticed the people who have been there for awhile with STILL not so much as a menu were getting annoyed at the waiting.  OBVIOUSLY replacement waitress was very nice and sweet so not bad on her, sorry you had to deal with pissed off me and my girlfriend....

Food was actually pretty good.  I had the Grilled Chicken and Brie Chiabatta with extra bacon.  Very tasty.

Just wish the people there awknowledged people wanting to eat.....

Being the tourists that we were, we were just wandering around the downtown Vancouver/Robson St area and decided to eat here on a whim. Luckily, it was a very short wait, and they were very accommodating since we wanted to sit outside, near a tv, and by a heatlamp.

On this particular Saturday, they had $1 off martinis, so I ordered a lychee one. Even with the $1 off, it was still kind of expensive, but the drink itself was good. Then my friend and I split the prawn dynamite roll, West Coast Prawn salad (they split-plated it for us), and spicy seafood linguine. Yes, it was a lot of seafood, and slightly expensive, but I think everything in Vancouver is expensive. It was also very delicious, and our waitress was pretty attentive too.

If you are in to giant plasma screens playing random sports on them and hanging from every inch of wall and pillar space, this is the place for you. Our hotel concierge suggested we eat here (we asked for "something with great food that's a local favorite") and for the life of me I cannot understand why she suggested Earls.

This is the perfect place if you are a 22-year-old tourist looking to impress the rest of the guys in your bachelor party with how loud you can talk while also eating overpriced but just okay appetizers and downing mixed drinks. Picture a TGI Fridays with more HD televisions, fewer families, and lots of phone numbers being exchanged.

Pros: They seated us quickly and the food was okay. Service was fine, no complaints. I actually don't remember what I had there - it was forgettable but fine.

Cons: WHY DID WE BLOW A WHOLE MEAL EATING HERE? There are plenty of much, much better restaurants within a few blocks of here (Davie Street alone has a thousand of them). If you want too see Vancouver or feel like you've learned something about the city -- this is not the right choice.

I was surprised with Earl's after reading other reviews. Not by the food which was great but by the fact we could actually talk.  We has a group of 12, service was excellent and they even split the bills.

Salads, steaks and pasta seemed to be what we ordered. Salads were excellent, steaks looked great, pasta looked so-so.

The bill was reasonable, I wish a 3.5 rating was possible.

You can make friends with salads.  At least with the maple pecan spinach salad that Earl's serves.  Plenty of spinach, apple slices give the salad a hint of tartness, creaminess from the goat cheese, sweet dried cherries and bacon.  Most importantly, pecan and porcinni mushroom encrusted chicken breast top off the salad.

My normal fare is one of the Earl's sandwiches, but this salad gives me plenty of belly filling vegetables without the usual boring tastes of a salad: the mix of tart, sweet, creamy and salty make this a lunch time champion!

We came for drinks and desserts after leaving Ebisu. We were thinking of a place to go for birthday cake. Luckily, it wasn't that busy that night, so we got a table for nine at 7.

Our waiter is wonderful. He was very attentive. Waters refilled, rounds of drinks were brought quickly... he was very patient because we were scattered. He had to come back like three times before we told him what we wanted.

Two of my friends were turning thirty, so the theme of the night is getting drunk. Ears has so many pretty drinks that are so tasty. Plus, they have four shots for like $10. Perfect for people trying to get to thirty drinks... there was no way they were gonna really do that, but there was talk...

We each ordered a dessert. To me, they need more desserts. I've had their sticky toffee pudding and their cheesecake many times. Something new I had to try was their individual Toblerone brownie with creme friache ice cream. It was too small. Well, I take that back. There should have more ice cream because it was good. I liked how tangy it was... vanilla would have been too sweet. The brownie was the size of a mini cupcake and oozed. I am guessing the inside was the Toblerone part. It was good, but I stress it is small. There is no sharing here. Not that it even crossed my mind.

Had an awesome time here. Everything was wonderful.

This place has great beer, a great atmosphere and nice flat-screen TVs to watch while you're at the bar or eating.
Wednesdays is $3 off a pound of chicken wings. (Why is everything in metric but chicken wings are by the pound?) But when the restaurant offers this discount, they actually charge a $1 EXTRA for the celery and a dipping sauce (a parmesan dressing, not even blue cheese). That's really cheesy.
But the wings are great. The also have great salads, awesome juicy, hamburgers and a whole variety of entrees.

    Oh Earl's.

I never have high expectations for you but this time you really sucked the life out of my afternoon.

Saturday we stopped in for a late afternoon lunch thinking that because it was before the dinner rush, it would be quick with decent service. But man oh man, were we wrong. We sat inside despite it being nice and sunny, as we were both hungover seeking shelter from the sun. After being seated in the nearly deserted dining room, we waited for close to 15 minutes before one of the eight waitresses, doing nothing but cutting limes behind the bar, noticed us. Only then because my girlfriend was giving them a nasty stink-eye.

Our waitress, wearing the traditional Earl's skimpy cocktail dress came over and asked if we "knew what we wanted" without any pleasantries or asking for drink orders. Since I was feeling the effects of the night before, I passed on food and ordered a virgin caesar. My girlfriend ordered the chicken tacos, which were edible though uninspiring.

When we finished eating, we had to stink-eye our waitress into bringing us a bill - only to find out that the credit/debit machines were down, which although not her fault, did not improve our crappy moods. She brought us a handwritten bill and we paid in cash, including the taxes that she'd forgotten to calculate in. We escaped without waiting for her to return because one more minute there seemed like an eternity.

While I know it's not the last time I'll visit Earl's, next time my already low expectations will be even lower.

Not to my surprise - Earls has caesars Sundays - like 90% of bars and lounges... for those people who need to recover from their Saturday hangovers... I just wanted a caesars!

What was cool was that there were three options ; Classic caesar, Mediterranean Caesar with Gin and cucumbers, and a mexican caesar, with tequila. I decided to try the mediterannean one.... and thought it tasted a little different, but still refreshing with the cucumber....

and then... i saw a hair in my drink - YUCKO.

So i got it sent back and a new one was brought to me. the waitress was super nice and felt super bad.... so at least I got good service.

not going to lie - still haven't tried the food at earls.. I know you're probably like WHAT?!?!?! how have you not tried Earls?.. but with so many independent delicious restos, I would rather spend the $$ before having to sit in Earls... although I'm pretty sure the food can be awesome. I will --- one day!

First of all, Earls beats the Keg and Moxie's and this particular Earls is my fave as it's sort of out of sight = tables always available. It's located above London Drugs and you'd miss it if you didn't know where to look for the staircase.

Kudos to the Caesar's salad as they use garlic. Ditto the mashed potatoes. I have not had a bad meal here ever.

    Wait staff is terrific, too.

Earl's is a unique phenomenon. I can't decide if, as an establishment, I really like them or I think they're weird and creepy.

They've got the feel of "We fill an important dining niche." but I've never been able to put my finger on what sort of niche that is. Semi-dressy family casual sports beer bar restaurant with mood lighting? I used to think this was kind of a nice place, but last time I showed up there was a 4 year old girl which did not belong to me running laps around my table, so that knocked it down a notch or two. My steak was a bit tough, and it was hard to tell if they'd cooked it correctly given the lighting, but they got me to like beets. Gotta start somewhere, right?

Awesome flatware, however. I'd suggest you steal some, but that'd be wrong.

My search for a venue at which to enjoy the Canucks playoff game with local fans led me to Earl's. Offering a nicely varied menu with very reasonable prices, Earls has ample bar and table seating with TV's in view from virtually anywhere in the restaurant. My buffalo wings were disappointing. After taking almost 30 minutes to arrive, they were dry and not nearly as spicy as I had hoped. But the game was fun, the patrons were friendly and the service was attentive. I'd go back.

I went there for lunch with a former colleague.  Neither of us has been there for over 10 years so we thought we'd check it out for old time's sake.

Food was good.  My halibut in my fish & ships was light and juicy although I was hoping for the real deal - heavy batter with dripping grease.  Although it was good, I'm not sure if I would order it again for almost $18, at Earls, for fish & chips.

Although service was attentive, it was a bit much.  We were asked twice (by 2 different wait staff) to place our drink orders and the 2nd one was less than 1 minute after the the1st one.  During the course of our lunch, we were asked THREE times how our food was by our waiter and someone else.  The first was less than a couple of minutes after our dishes had been delivered.  We had not even taken our first bites yet.  It was like being bombarded by dim sum ladies pushing dim sum carts!

Whenever I'm out west, I try to hit up an Earl's at least once. Even though they're a chain, no two seem alike, and they're always redecorating. When I was at this particular one, it had an upscale, clubby feel, complete with foxy waitresses in skirts and heels. So I did feel inadvertently underdressed.

The other nice thing about Earl's is that their menu is reasonably priced but more interesting than the run-of-the-mill comfort food. I had a good meal consisting of a brie and pear panino with fries as well as a cocktail (one of their great drink specials: a double for the price of a single), and the whole thing still only cost me about $20.

I tried Earls for the first time last night. I had a gift card from a friend, so I figured "Why not?" It was pretty crowded. There was about a 15 minute wait for a table. I thought the atmosphere was ok, but I probably would have enjoyed it more without the loud sports fans. ("Someone who doesn't know who I am just scored a point in a game I'm not playing and have no stake in! I must CHEER! Every time!")

I ordered a bacon cheddar burger. It was ok. White Spot's bacon cheddar burger is definitely better, but this one was pretty good too. The fries were limp and a little soggy, though. My husband had a margarita pizza (I think that's what it was called) and he really loved it. For dessert we each ordered a chocolate toffee "pudding" (re: really moist cake and not a pudding at all). Half of it has chocolate sauce over it and the other half has toffee. I have to say, the toffee half was pretty amazing. I actually exclaimed "Oh my god!" when I took a bite. My husband said he hadn't been that impressed with a dessert since the first time he tried creme brule in Paris.

We'll definitely be back at some point, but probably when things calm down a bit, I'll definitely try something besides a bacon cheddar burger.
