The Earl of Sussex patio has to be one of the finest in Ottawa.  The view alone is prime -- looking over Major's Hill Park towards Parliament.

But if you catch this place during a soccer match and you like soccer then you'll be in heaven.  They pull the screens down and there's still plenty of space on the patio.

The food isn't too shabby either.  I was surprised by and thoroughly enjoyed their meat pizza.

This past summer they had drink specials on Friday after work and I found myself and friends starting there after work and staying to almost close.

The inside has a nice authentic pub feel with the tiled floors and solid oak bar.  One of the top three pubs in Ottawa for sure.

We swung by here a few weeks ago when it was really hot out.  We were in shorts and on the patio!

It was wing night so we obviously ordered some wings and they also had cheap bar shots that night.

The atmosphere was ok and the patio was full.  People were outside walking around  and enjoying the day.  This corner of the market is pretty nice.  Depending where you're sitting you can see the National Gallery.

The wings were kind of crappy...and definitely not something I'd order at full price.

The service sucked though even though our waitress was really nice.  I'm wondering if they were just understaffed for such a nice day but it was also wing night!  We walked inside and it looked liked all the would be indoor customers were sitting outside so I don't know if it was just a matter of being understaffed.

A good pub on the edge of the Market. Great feel walking in with high ceilings, brass and dark wood.

The  beer listing is somewhat  small, with only a couple of interesting beers on tap.

The service was excellent - engaging, attentive and good fun.

I expect pulled pork sandwiches to have more meat than bread, so I was disappointed by the offering here. The taste was good and the fries were great.

This is the Earl of Sussex Pub in name only.  Apparently this wonderful landmark changed ownership two years ago.  It used to be a cosy meeting place with Great Food, Super atmosphere and many choices of beer.  Now it has become a Sports Bar - similar to many other sports bars.

Nothing special - just another watering hole to watch sports on big screen tv's, drink beer and eat so-so food.  The college crowd might like this kind of place, but I won't be going back.
