Review from Jason S.
Driving down Highway 101 I saw a sign promoting a winery and cidery. So having a lust for hard Cider just like Johnny Appleseed and his apple love I flipped around and headed towards my adult juice box destination.
Eaglemount is located on one of the original homesteads on the Olympic Peninsula. The trees which produce gravenstein, roxbury russet, grimes golden, tompkins king, twenty ounce and winter banana are roughly 120 years old. Those are some old tasty apples if I do say so myself. They offer a few different varieties of hard cider: Dry, Semi Sweet, Sweet, Ginger Cider, Cyser, which is a hard cider sweetened with honey, and Pear. Most of the fruit they use for cider is from their farm or locally grown so the apple doesn't fall far from the tree here instead it lands straight into your glass.
I didn't try the Cyser or the Sweet, but will next time. My favorite was the Ginger Cider since I am a sucker for anything Ginger not located on a deserted island and this Cider didn't disappoint. It was refreshing with a nice crisp bite to it.
Their grapes are from a vineyard in Eastern Washington since, due to the climate, only a few varieties can grow on the Olympic Peninsula. The only wine of theirs I tried was the Riesling and not only did it smell good but tasted wonderful, a little on the sweet end but still really good.
Overall the cider isn't the best I have had but it's a close second as far as cideries are concerned. I'll be back.Listed in: How do you like these apples?
