I have come to realize that the business name "Arts and Crafts" in Chinatown, doesn't necessarily mean what I have come to know "Arts and Crafts" to stand for. Case in point, E.A.A Art and Crafts, which from the outside, appears to be the same as the neighboring Arts and Crafts stores, but it is actually a Goldsmith and jewellery sales store.
The young woman proprietor (whose name unfortunately escapes me! And she ran out of business cards, just my luck right?!) happens to be a Goldsmith and carver of jade jewellery and statuettes and figurines. Her work is beautiful and I find it very impressive that she handles quite a lot of the work that appears in her store. My love of green is obvious enough and jade, being a wonderful, mysterious green stone, is not worn enough. I am just as much to blame for this because I own a gorgeous jade ring that just happens to be in a terribly inconvenient setting and I've barely worn it. This put an idea in my head: could this lovely jade artist and Goldsmith assist me in creating a better ring with the same stone? Absolutely, she replied!
Along with jade carving and Goldsmithing, you can get your ears pierced here and shop for plenty of other jewellery options besides jade.
