Went here for a friend's b-day party and loved it !!!!
The service was slow to start at the beginning but was well worth waiting for. It was a ten course meal of the yummiest food, from the appetizer plate of jellyfish, to the creamed lobster, rock cod with egglplant, honey garlic spareribs, scallop veggy, two course peking duck, fish maw soup etc. Each dish was cooked perfectly.
The waiter was friendly, yup you can order drinks, great view of the city, free underground parking, if you do't want to go for dinner you can try the dim sum.
Good friends and good food. Life can't get better than this :) -

Rock solid dim sum with a view of downtown Vancouver.
Problem: Saturday morning dim sum craving. Solution: Yelp app. What a great find in my hood.
Free parking underground given you don't have a goldfish memory to remember your stall #. Parking at #88, I knew I was in for a treat (8 is the Chinese 7)
Make sure to make reservations, this place is usually packed.
Starting with some dumplings. Crab & mushrooms was a unique spin. Freshly crafted bites of joy.
Stuffed eggplant, radish cake, siu ma - all solid. No frozen junk here.
Finished it off with a hearty serving of baked sago pudding. Now that sh*t is serious dessert.
Dinner comeback is a must. Especially with that view.Listed in: Chinese Chowdown

Yes, I'm a bitch when I say that the waitstaff in this restaurant are probably not the shiniest pennies in the jar.
From the man who answered the phone with "Huh?" when I made my reservation, to the server who kept bringing us cold water when we wanted two bowls of rice for the kiddies, to the waitress who said that the vegetarian dish, Tofu with Veggies had meat, to the lady who didn't know what fortune cookies were (I am Chinese/English bilingual) to the small and disappointing selection of dim sum... I can say that there are plenty of better dim sum places in Vancouver.
The food wasn't all that BAD (I struggled with rating this restaurant 3 stars), but the spacy service was what made the experience memorable (in a bad way) for me.
Will not be back. -
Review from Justin L.
Our family has dined at Dynasty Seafood Restaurant many times, always with great satisfaction. They offer most of the staple dishes, but dare to push the boundaries with some of their own creations. That's not an easy feat for Chinese restaurants, because customers usually demand strict adherence to age-old recipes and presentations, while expecting the restaurant to somehow distinguish itself from all the others.
A memorable dish from dinner about a month ago was the PUMPKIN SEAFOOD FRIED RICE. This is a wet, saucy rice dish with morsels of seafood and - yes - pumpkin. We all loved it. I was amused when a table next to us occupied by three young Caucasian guys timidly asked the waiter what we were eating and the waiter replied rather matter-of-factly, "Rice."
More recently, since I had to be in the Fairview neighbourhood, I stopped in for lunch. And you know what Chinese lunch, particularly on a Saturday, means: DIM SUM! The restaurant was packed with people, but as it's a large space with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking downtown and False Creek, we were seated right away by our favourite Chinese restaurant manager, Alfred.
Dynasty has a lot of dim sum items not typically offered by other restaurants. It's worth trying something you don't normally order. As with most dim sum spots in Vancouver, you order off a slip of paper. While I, too, bemoan for nostalgic reasons the loss of traditional push-carts, the paper method really is more sanitary, and your food is freshly made-to-order.
A number of items were delicious, which I would order again: PAN FRIED BEEF & ONION PANCAKE ($4.38); FOIE GRAS DUMPLING ($4.88) [okay, it's mostly shrimp, but it tasted great]; DEEP FRIED EGG TWIST ($4.38) [nice for dessert]; RICE ROLL WITH BBQ PORK ($5.99) [not the usual steamed kind]; and an entree order of CHAOZHOU/CHIUCHOW FRIED RICE ($16.99).
Note that even if you're having dim sum, you can always supplement the small dishes with regular-sized entrees from the main menu. Especially if you have a group of people, a rice or noodle dish helps to fill in the gaps.
Chinese DIM SUM is the original cafe culture. You'll see old couples whiling away the time at a nearby table, sipping on tea, nibbling on one dish, and reading the newspaper. I, of course, can't help but order up a storm and stuff my face.
You get validation from the restaurant if you park downstairs. -

Weekend dimsum review. Usually I try to avoid dimsum on weekends since noise level at the typical Chinese restaurant is enough to drive me mad. This morning my dad convinced me to go 'early' 11:30 so we drove over to Dynasty.
In addition to the standard dimsum like shrimp dumplings, steamed beef balls, spareribs etc they have some items you should try.
Steamed crabmeat & minced pork dumplings is a mixture of ground pork, crab meat, cilantro Stapleton thin rice dough, very delicious. Deep fried shrimp & chive dumplings are filled with shrimp goodness accented by the flavour of chives and fried to a crispy golden dumpling. Desserts are all good, I recommend the baked sago pudding w/ black sesame.
Nice choice for dimsum. -

Dynasty Seafood restaurant is located on Broadway and Willow street in Vancouver. This restaurant is one of my mom's favourites for our big family gathering dinners and also sunday dim sum. Dynasty serves authentic Chinese food with a twist using ingredients or food combination that is not traditionally done. The décor is classic and elegant and the atmosphere is more up scale when compared to other Chinese restaurants like Sun Sui Wai and Kirin. The customer service is superb, probably the best I have seen in any Chinese restaurant in Vancouver. The staffs are very attentive and pays great attention to details that really enhance your dining experience at Dynasty - for example, they changed our personal plates and bowls for each course - a total of 6 plate changes for the entire dinner.
For Dinner, we ordered
Shark Fin Soup - The soup not only tasted wonderful but the presentation was impressive. It was served in an individual golden globe-shaped bowl and the soup is unveiled in front of you.
Sautéed Diced Beef with Eggplant in Supreme Oyster sauce $18.99 - This dish was ok - it was very salty.
Sautéed Buddha Feast $15.99 - This dish is one of their famous/specialities and also my family's favourite. It's a sautée of various vegetables like bamboo shoots, mushrooms, bean curds, tofu, gluten, noodles, fungus, green cabbage and vermicelli - it is a mouthful of flavours.
Steam Black Rock Cod $ based on lbs - The fish was fresh and sweet but a little bit overcooked.
Overall, their prices are a little bit more expensive than other Chinese restaurants, but given the " Great Food. Nice Atmosphere. Excellent Service." - I think it's well worth it. -

Nothing Special and Very Uncomfortable
So many good reviews from the critic about this restaurant, its worth give it a try. We are not big eaters, so we ordered 2 dishes and a bowl of rice;
Here's what we ordered:
PAN FRIED BLACK COD w/EGGPLANT IN TERIYAKI SAUCE
SAUTEED BUDDHA FEAST
The Pan Fried Black Cod w/Eggplant in Teriyaki Sauce is ok but there is hardly any sauce in the dish, where is the Teriyaki Sauce? The award winning dish SAUTEED BUDDHA FEAST is nothing more than stir fried vegetables; mushrooms and vermicelli with soy sauce. This dish was awarded by CRA (Chinese Restaurant Association) as GOLD with DISTINCTION AWARD. There is nothing special about this dish, what distinction?
The restaurant is small compare to most of the Chinese Restaurant in that class, they only have 1 table for 2; 2 tables for 4 and the rest is for 10. You feel very uncomfortable dining for 2. It appears they are not interest in serving 2 or 4 unless you have a party of 10 or more. Who wants to set next to Fish Tank or the only table for 2 or 4 in the back hallway by yourself? -

This is one of my favour restaurant. It makes a lot of special dishes if you know how to order or special request it.
Also, it is the season for king crab that's why we reversed one for tonight.
I found they charged at least $2-$3 more than other restaurant, but, they didn't cheat on us.
King crab in 2 styles - steamed with garlic and stir fried with aged soy sauce. Delicious!!
Bitter melon with mince pork with bean curd sauce - tasty and quite bitter.
Tilapia fish in 2 styles - stir fried in boneless and deep fried the bone.2 Previous Reviews: Show all »

Review from Renee C.
My mom celebrated her birthday here with a few close friends and relatives. We ordered a set dinner menu fit for 10 people and there was more than enough food for everybody.
She says that it's always good to go to a restuarant when it first opens cuase they want to make a good impression...and Dynasty was quite new in the sense that it was opened a few months ago after another similar Cantonese restuarant closed in the same spot.
As a Cantonese Chinese restaurant they had everything that was expected and more. Live lobsters, fish and crabs were on hand for patrons to choose from to be cooked right away and everything look fresh. :)
Highlights from the dinner included the steamed smooth tofu with fried fish balls and bean sprouts (my favorite), the stir-fried scallops with mushrooms, celery, and snow peas, the soy sauce chicken (#2 favorite), the crab was delicious and it was served on top of fried daikon raddish cakes....innovative because it usually comes with noodles:)
I really liked their dessert, which was a yam and taro soup with tapioca and coconut milk! YUM!
Service was good, they changed our plates almost after every dish was served and gave us hot hand towels twice during dinner especially after the crab dish.
I would probably come again if I was in town to check out their dim sum selections during the day.Listed in: Vancouver, BC!!!!

I used to love dim sum here when it was called Rich Ocean. Long story short, they sold, it turned into a Beijing restaurant (horrible), then was reinvented into Dynasty. I am not sure whether the reinvention involved new owners or not. The first time we went to dim sum was in Dec. 2009. It was good, but it wasn't enough to make us leave Kirin which had become our new dim sum home since Rich Ocean left.
We decided to check it out again today. We arrived about 11:30ish. We were escorted right to the back of the restaurant where they had segregated the caucasians. All the asians were filled up front, anyone who was not, was moved into a little section at the back. We found this very humorous. By noon the restaurant was fully packed (it's a huge restaurant) with a line up to get in.
The dim sum was fantastic! Outstanding! They have refined the menu since our last visit. I believe all of them are about $4.50 each. Delicious. We have put this back into our lunch time rotation. Kirin is now on the back burner! I can't wait to get back to go again next week. We decided we are going to go here til we exhaust all of the dim sum menu.
I reserve the last star to see if it's consistent... -

When you park in the building's parking garage remember the space #, then in the restaurant ask for validation for free parking.
The restaurant has a relaxing modern decor. The service was very good throughout our lunch for 7.
We started with spongy crab cakes & smoked fish. Then progressed to a clear broth soup, followed by a flame broiled lobster. Soon a fried rice, fungi, Chinese cabbage, & deep fried whole cod followed. For dessert we had a chrysanthemum & green apple jello mousse.
All was creatively prepared & presented. All tasted great. -

dropped into dynasty seafood to satisfy a dim sum craving after a weekend in whistler. service at dynasty was very slow to start. after we were seated we were unattended for well over 15mins.
after we managed to flag down a waitress, we placed our dim sum order:
- geoduck jook: pretty good, the jook was well seasoned.
- har gow: the skin was mushy indicating too much time spent in the steamer
- siu mai: decent, the fish roe on top was a bit on the firm side and instead of popping when bit into, they crunched.
- pan fried radish/turnip cake: these were very good. soft on the inside and crisp on the outside.
- braised pork ribs: these were not good. they needed to be braised another 30mins to an hour as the meat was super tough.
- chicken feet: meh. the first couple pieces were good. nice and tender and flavorful, however, the remaining pieces towards the bottom were a bit tough and overly salty.
- mince pork pie: these were meh as well. i personally did not like the flavor combo.
- dan tat: very good. they came out piping hot with a nice firm crust and gooey egg tart center. yum.
- beef fried chow mein: it took a couple people to figure out what we wanted. it was quite simple but a bit lacking in the seasoning department. for some odd reason they could not do the fried chow mein as a combo (beef, chicken and seafood)....we could only order it beef, or chicken or pork.
service in general was decent albeit quite slow.
i dunno, i heard the dim sum in vancouver is the bomb but i left dynasty seafood underwhelmed. perhaps we went to the wrong place because i thought the dim sum meal was below average.
if you park in the subterranean garage make sure you tell the hostess when you walk in. we did not know we had to tell them we parked in the garage until after the meal. when we told the hostess, she brushed us off and said: "good luck, i hope you did not get a ticket"
thanks for your help lazy ass.
pricing is typical of higher end dim sum at roughly $30pp. -

It was the first time I tried dim sum in Vancouver; their dim sum portions are generous (however, the dishes are about $4 each, compared to $2 I usually get). Nevertheless, the taste is impressive. Service, not bad.
