Review from Frank S.
Our family went to Victoria for the Thanksgiving Holiday and we had a craving for Dim Sum. After a visit to the nearby shops in China Town, we went to Dynasty just after it opened at 11 am on a weekday.
Because we went on a weekday, they did not come around with a cart but we ordered a couple of dishes from a list. We were served hot tea and after about 20 minutes or so the first dishes were being served. They were all hot, fresh, and very tasty. We go out to Dim Sum frequently and this has been one of the better experiences we had. We can definitely recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for Dim Sum in Victoria. -

we stopped at victoria during our cruise. we wanted dim sum and it didn't disappoint. it wasn't the best, but it came close. we also got the beef chow fun, and i have to say that this was the best i've had. overall this place was good.

Review from M S.
At dinner time on a Friday evening, there were about 10 eaters in the restaurant including us. We ordered Dim Sum since the restaurant seemed serving it all day as their specialty. No cart is pushed as mentioned by another reviewer. However, the quantity of food is just not there, and the quality is average. One of the dim sum dish comes with 4 such small buns at the size of two quarters. We had to add a regular dish later. Comparing to Seattle Chinese restaurants, we spent 30% more and walking away wanting more food. The bottom line, go there only when you are not hungry and want a quiet place for a quick bite.

lf you want dim sum you have to ask for the check off menu. The service is good but we were the only people there. Don't be fooled by the area our exterior of the place, it's nice inside and the din sum is good but the selection is limited

My Yelp was not working in Canada, but I had about five hours off of a cruise ship and I had read that Victoria had a nice Chinatown, so I decided to set off at 7:30pm for dim sum. Several of the eateries on the block that is largely Chinatown were closed, a pair were very touristy, one was cool but had no PM dim sum. Dynasty looked clean and friendly, so I walked in. The person who said that they have a limited menu must have seen the picture menu. Ask for the paper one. They have almost fifty items on it!
I tried several items. The barbecue pork bao were great but they were probably frozen/resteamed. Tasty, but not a cuisine indicator. The steamed shrimp & cilantro dumplings were outstanding. The chinese port sausage and rice was simple and tasty. The only minor let-down was that the chili squid was fried and had just a few chili flakes scattered around the lettuce. The breading was pretty standard fare and not bad, but not the spicy that I was looking for. I asked for sauces but they never materialized.
The people were indeed super nice, and the hot pots looked killer, but, there being one of me, I didn't want that much out of one dish. I would highly recommend the place though. I could see that they do a nice variety of Chinese specialties that you don't find at your run-of-the-mill Chinese restaurant.
Prices were in Canadian dollars but plates ran $13-15. The Dim Sum was reasonably cheap at 3.95 - 6.95 Canadian -

I think I'm spoiled by the dim sum in Seattle and Bellevue, so I had an okay dining experience here. The staff were very nice and the steamed shrimp and cilantro dumpings mentioned earlier were great, but the other dishes I got were nothing incredible. They had very minimal ingredients and therefore the flavors were simple.

Victoria, BC
Been here about a half dozen times (mostly for dim sum) and while the selection is a bit slim for dim sum, all the dishes are good to very good. The spareribs are excellent while any of the dishes with seafood are fresh and tasty. The rice roll could use a bit of work - the roll is a bit tougher than I'm used to but otherwise this is one of the better Chinese restaurants in Victoria.
I wouldn't be embarrassed at all to take my Vancouver-based parents here for dinner or dim sum.
Note: The oddest thing I find eating Chinese food in Victoria is that all the Chinese servers don't think I speak Chinese. In Vancouver, it's assumed that you speak it, here it's assumed that you don't. I find it amusing. -

I remember coming here to eat when I was in Victoria, Canada and it was pretty mad. Maybe it changed now, but back then on a Friday night, my family and I were the only customers.

My parents, another couple, and my wife and I ordered take-out at Dynasty. We had the Moo Shu Pork, Kung Pao Chicken, and Pork Fried Rice. We all raved about the food. It was both freshly prepared and flavorful. The ambience is a bit rustic so don't judge the food based on what you see when you walk in the place. We were staying on our boat in the Inner Harbor so we walked to the restaurant and needed a cab to go back to the harbor with the food. They gave us a ride for free! The driver refused to take any money for the ride. Amazing!

We found this place in the middle of Chinatown quite by happenstance, the place rated by Yelp for great Dim Sum was not open because of a private party so off we went in search of a lunch spot and was our find ever a winner! This is a small place but very neat and clean looking. The people appear to be the owners and were very nice and helpful. They don't use carts for Dim Sum so one must order off a menu but the tradeoff is the goodies come to you very hot and fresh. The menu is very small but again very first rate. If your looking for Dim Sum, look here you'll love it.
By the way, I'm a sauce freak with my Dim Sum and this place had wonderful sauces to go with certain items, yummerful! -

The food here is AAMMMAAZING!!! The service was great and the wait staff are super nice. I would definitely recommend getting the ginger beef hot pot... It is delightful and full of flavor. The dim sum is also very good, even though there are not a whole lot of choices. I will definiltey be going back here again, and again.

We had dinner at Dynasty restaurant during our stay in Victoria two weeks ago (June 2011). The food was very delicious and the service was superb! I was especially impressed by the wait staff - I've never been to any restaurant where the entire wait staff was this nice and attentive to the customers. Too bad that we only had a few hours on the Island this time, but we'd definitely go back there again the next time we visit Victoria.
