3 stars for having brekkie in the afternoon and for being 24 hours.
i had my usual eggs bennie with home fries. pretty much a casual 24 hour eat, big portions. specialty is the roast beef or brisket. montreal chain. all = average and skip! meh. -

The servers here are hit and miss. The last time I was there the guy was very pleasant, even funny. Other times we've been served by a woman who insists on cleaning your table AS you eat.
We broke open a creamer and sugar package and she came right over to take it away and then she re-stocked the sugar and creamer tray which was in no danger of running out. It was rather intrusive. Our food came and our bill must have had legs because it walked to our table seconds after we finished our food. The waitress hovered until we produced either a card or some bills and then those were scooped up and we were on our way. Another customer through the door!
I like attentive service but there's a limit and this waitress crossed the 'hovering lines'.
The food is pretty good here but I find the menu items overpriced. My friend got a caesar salad (large), a Coke and one of their famous dill pickles and it came to something like $20.
Their breakfasts are OK but again french toast that tastes like it was pre-made should not break the bank.
I try to avoid Dunn's unless I'm really craving their poutine which is really, really good and the place is open 24 hours so it's another alternative to Elgin Street Diner. -

When you're paying $3.99 for a full breakfast, it comes with certain expectations and responsibilities.
First, there's no excuse for not knowing what you're in for. Dreaming of brioche french toast with brie and walnuts? Yeah. You're in the wrong place. But if you want a couple eggs cooked at least marginally close to what you asked for, buttered toast, and your choice of meat product - you're in business.
Second, who really cares about service when you're getting the most important meal of the day for the same price you'd pay for a latté? Yep - it should be quick and polite, but don't go in expecting someone to ask about your day and care.
Third, seriously...breakfast for less than five bucks. Who really cares about the details? -

Don't go here.
The word "Famous" misleads people into thinking that they're in for something special, but they're just getting ripped off. -

I've had Dunn's in the past, but I had my first Dunn's breakfast at this location. It was summer, so the front of the restaurant was completely open without the windows. Everything is reasonably priced, and although their menu is not as extensive as the ones in Montreal, they do offer breakfast, poutine, and some other favourites.
I came here with a couple friends on a Sunday morning and ordered the Eggs Florentine with some apple juice. The breakfast was fantastic! There was a huge plate of food, and it came hot and fast. The eggs were poached just right, there was plenty of spinach, and a ton of Hollandaise sauce, which I absolutely love. I somehow managed to finish everything because it was so good, and I was completely stuffed. They offered us coffee, but I couldn't even think of having anything more than I had, not even coffee. I'd definitely go back for their smoked meat sandwiches!Listed in: Glutton

It's what i expected.... fairly cheap... fairly fast and tasty enough. I have to say that the server we had was great though! We went in, sat down, got drinks, ordered..... the problem was the food took a LONG time. I had a western omlet, friend had veggie omlet.... neither of us complained about the food. We got a lot of food... but also paid about $11.00 each with a drink. It's 24 hours and convient. Don't come here expecting the spectacular though!

I just came back from spending a week in Ottawa. Dunn's was right down the street from my hotel. A simple diner deli that is open 24 hours and cheap cheap cheap! Is the food fantastic? Nope. Did I go more then once? Yes. Convenience is key my friends. The food wasn't horrible, and when the breakfast is under $5 you can't really go wrong.

Dunn's is a pretty good diner with a quality of food between Zak's and Elgin Street Diner. They're open 24 hours and they have locations on Elgin Street and the ByWard Market, which makes them a prime location for people stumbling out of the bars late at night. I'm probably more so a fan of their breakfast than night food since their poutine pales in comparison to the Elgin Street Diner. If you show up early in the morning, you can get a basic breakfast for under $4.
